As a parent, it’s the little things you do each and every day that can help your kids grow up to be kind, confident, and conscientious human beings. Welcome! I'm Lori, and I founded Teach Through Love because I'm passionate about helping adults resolve daily conflicts and nurture children's development by using conscious communication.
Parents, teachers, and caregivers are the most influential people in a child's life. My Conscious Parenting Courses and Communication Cards have helped thousands of parents and professionals break free of reactive patterns and unconscious beliefs about "discipline" that keep them stuck in negative cycles with kids.
I want to help adults increase cooperation and connection by communicating in ways that help kids feel heard and capable of change. We can help them reach their full potential, and learn to solve conflicts and collaborate with others when we shift how we respond to their needs and feelings.

You know, I figured out a few things: I'm watching this video as I go through my backlog of emails that I have of stuff that might be useful from a few subs (yours, some about anxiety, pain) and in the back of my mind I have all the things that have been in my backlog in the house (getting rid of a lot of stuff that doesn't get any use but clutters space and mind, repairs...) and I started watching this with a "clearing the backlog" mentality but I realised that I do collect all of this stuff, but when I relax into the talk I am giving myself a time to listen to things I'm genuinely interested in because of your presentation it almost feels like sitting with some like-minded people and there's a good effect just from that. I also realised that, despite my inner critic, I already do some stuff "right". Usually at pick-up I just walk back with my son and ask him about his day, or if he doesn't want to share that then I'll just listen to what he wants to share about what he's going to do and draw. I think you're a bit a vehicle for this kind of reflection. I don't think I've commented before, but I just wanted to let you know that when you post this videos you give me a lot of perspective and there's this good thing for me to listen to that makes me feel a bit less lost (I might buy this book, I've actually started going through Calm the Chaos, which you also recommended, and it's given me a lot of hope). And my biggest fear has been attacked too! I saw a Ted Talk with an exercise where the host was asking the audience to imagine their parents calling out of the blue and just listening to them and then asked to imagine how it would feel and proved that it's never too late. I found it shocking. I think I'll go through the rest of my backlog without worrying too much if I finish it today or not. If there's info that's useful I'll take it, if not that's OK too. Thanks!

For my aims and my children. I dont think its possible to raise them without punishment. They forget the lessons every single time. A good hit drives the lesson home. Sometimes permanently for better or worse
