@@Superfitcouple probably not, BUT better air being fed into the engine on the highway, when AERO Shutters are open, I'm sure it'll breathe a bit better and more so at speed. So probably no hp/tq gains but better 1/4 speeds and fuel efficiency.
I have had mine for over a year with the same CAI system with zero problems. Monsoons, creek crossings, dust, nothing is an issue. Anyone complaining about water or anything else is full of it, or did a really poor job installing. It works well, it increases fuel efficiency at speed, and it is just a good piece of equipment. Stop hating if you haven't even had one.
I will be starting to work on my 2020 rst as soon as I close on the house I'm looking to buy. I will definitely be using your videos for garage inspiration. Keep the vids comin brother.
Awesome truck, I’ve had my stillen air dam in for many months, and am very happy with it. However, if your truck is equipped with the”shutters”, I would suggest removing the top two to prevent them from closing and blocking off part of the air flow when you reach highway speeds. The shutters aren’t bolted or clamped in, they just slide into notches on each end. They bend easily, and bending them slightly in the middle will allow you to slip one side out and then the other. It’s definitely more responsive on the highway with them removed.
All of these upgrades on your channel are awesome! Thank you for that! Definitely doing the CAI, stilled scoop, and the Pulse plug in! Also I have my new JBA headers to throw in as well. Good stuff brah! Mahalo!
Been watching since I got my 2020 Trail Boss. Love the hands on and down to earth atmosphere you put out. Make us all part of the build. Cant wait for more. You keep pushing me to do upgrades to mine!
I just bought my first ever truck! It's one month old and I am so spoiled never going back to a car. Got the 2021 chevy silverado 1500 LT texas edition
I got me a 2021 LT Trail Boss and love the truck. I first changed by reverse, license plate, and turn signal to LED by Lasfit. Man those are bright!!! I also did the Plasti Dip for the chrome bow tie, Z71 badge, Silverado, and LT badging. I get a lot of complements because of you modifications. Next will be the cold air intake. Thanks from fellow Texan!!
Have you looked at the radiator curtains at the front of the truck? When the vehicle get to about 50 mph the curtains will close for aerodynamic reason. The curtains will completely cover the intake on the Stillen and the truck will not breathe correctly. The Stillen Ram Air System is made for the non- curtain version (Custom). Your LT should have the Aro Curtains. Just a heads up as i returned mine after looking at the setup after the installation.
@@80gritkelly20 Actually they are behind the curtains blocking the Ram air entrance when closed. I talked to Stillen and they agreed and refunded my money. Definitely not for the LT with the curtains.
Glad you pointed that out. Quite honestly I think this mod is almost pointless/ potentially hazardous for the engine. Aside from the heavy rain issue, the way the factory one is set up already allows for plenty of air to be force into the intake while the vehicle is moving forward. The air that passed through the radiator is not being sucked by the intake since the scoop sits in front of it. The vehicle at speed moving forward provides more than enough flow/force to “RAM” air into the engine.
Only made it to 5:34 so far, and I hope I'm not too late but.. Make sure you put the handle back on the latch before shutting your hood!!! I may or may not have made that mistake when I took mine off to work behind the grill.. and it may or may not have been a pain in the neck to re-open the hood.
Lots of guys I hear are swapping the 6.2 manifold onto the 5.3 trucks. Also they offer already ported manifolds and bigger 6.2 throttlebody for the 5.3 trucks. Along with hoses and gaskets. They don't set off check engine lights. Please do this mod and review it. Ps..word on the street says it increases mpg 2 and hp around 12-15hp and 15ft lbs tq...bolt on
Have you looked into the Gwatey Performance intake and TB kit they sell? In my case I have the 5.3, so the kit is the 6.2 intake manifold and TB both ported. I did it and it definitely gave it that extra pep!
Not sure if you have gotten any rain lately. But wondering if the next time you are driving in rain if you could pull the air filter and update us on if it got wet. I saw your update on the shutters and that it was one of 2 mods you regret. I'm leaning towards passing on this.
I put in a cai and I got an check engine light about my Emissions. Took it to the dealer was told it was the intake that it was sucking in to much air and that I would need a tune to fix it but that I would lose warranty’s once it’s too new to tune.
@@HockeyRef14 it took about 6 months fir it to pop up so I doubt it and they erased the code so it’s been a week and nothing is piping back up I think somthing was bad and they just wanted to scare me and blame the intake
I saw this product out there. My first thought was, I've seen some stuff about these trucks' transmissions overheating when towing at low speeds. I wonder if this makes it worse since it's pulling less air through the radiator.
My gas mileage seemed to increase tremendously after i installed mine a month or so ago. Long as i keep my foot out of it. It seemed to use a quarter of a tank less on my trips from Nc to Tn.
@@LonestarHawaiian Thanks, I'll check it out! One more Q - is this induction mod something you should do after upgrading to a cold air intake? Are you meant to have both together?
This looks like it would be really helpful but I am confused because I have the 5.3L 2020 LT Trail Boss as well, and the radiator is located between the channel system and the engine. Is the air pulled from the engine side when the shutters are closed or just from below?
Shutters still have room to articulate. Looks like they took that into account on the design. Works great so far. Haven’t run a full tank just yet to see
I have it installed for some reason mine was having an issue touching the shutters so i took a dremmel to the plastic and it worked out. As far as performance nothing has changed but in theory it should breathe better. Good luck out there love the videos
I thought the same thing with the air funnel but then I drove into a foot and a half of water and hydro locked my 6.2 on my 21 trail boss with a factory level as a Nissan Rogue passed right by me. It was pretty embarrassing. Its a big flaw in the design. Im saying this so we’re all aware of small puddles next time. 🤦🏻
Anyone else have an issue with their hood not closing after install? I think i got a defective unit. Luckily Stillen is standing behind and replacing it. Seems too thick.
What about when it rains? I hear so many people talking about hydrolocking their engine or worried about it... I have S&B CAI and I'm definitely considering this mod but I'm wondering how this works during driving in heavy rains
@@mah7843 yeah man... idk hard to find any answers on this or if it's an issue at all? It makes sense to have this mod but same time how does rain affect it? I need to do more research or just send email to stillen and see if they can answer the question
@@MAL-92 man are you serious just a foot and half of water???that's ridiculous... I wonder how and where it entered into the filter? Front grille area or underside of truck and wheel well?
Ooh! There’s a Beautiful black Trail Boss at work with a 9 inch lift and the stock wheels wrapped in 35s! I’m telling you that’s all these trucks need! Looks amazing!
Right on man. You’re on another level with that setup. Should fit just fine, but you can always double check the website for fitment or shoot Stillen a note to confirm 🤙🏽
I have been looking for programming for my 6.2 High Country to install a supercharger as well, not having any luck. Only finding ECU exchange, I'm a little concerned about using an older ECU. How did you get yours programed?
@@80gritkelly20 i called my buddy over at Signature Speed in Lenoir Nc he told me he can install, but my whipple on my mustang is tuned by a well know company in the mustang world(without putting out names) and they cant do it. He told me Ecu would have to be unlocked first which is costly and then whipple can calibrate it.
