Andrea Pronay no that would kill the whole point of Rammstein (although I might be a bit biased here because I’m from Switzerland and can understand German)
Actually, he didn't just volunteer to be eaten - before being butchered, Armin did cut off the guys penis and they ate it together - only after that was he butchered. That's what the title "Mein Teil" ("my piece") refers to. When the police entered the house a few days later, most of the guy (the parts not yet eaten) were in Armin's freezer. And yeah - it's a true story that was all over the papers in Germany.
Rammstein is the only band that can give you a sunburn at an indoor show. Their live shows are simply incredible. I just got my ticket presales for the Chicago show in September!
As someone has pointed out, the song is about Arwin Meiwes, a german who placed an personal ad in a paper to meet someone to eat. The met, the cut of a soft part that can get hard, cooked it, and ate it. The Wikipedia page has some more info en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armin_Meiwes here's the wiki page for the song: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mein_Teil And that is one hell of a live show, their concerts are a lot of fun, and a lot of flames :)
I have seen Rammstein live 7 times. They never disappoint. Jamal, and fans, they put in their all. From sound, choreography, pyrotechnics, lighting and nuances from the songs as stories, they are one of the best live shows to see. The energy from the band and crowd is palpable. They change up their show every album. Some elements stay, but a new stage setup. Love @rammstein!
During the version of Mein Teil I saw, every time Till (the singer) would hit the pot with the flamethrower, a giant pyro would come down from the ceiling and explode.
Rammstein is my favorite band and Mein Teil is my favorite song from them. "You are what you eat and you know what it is." The official Rammstein channel has the music video and the "making of" video, which will shed a lot of light into the song if you want to go that route. It's also a helluva song to see performed live. If you want more of a traditional metal song from Rammstein, check out Ich Tu Dir Weh. Industrial metal songs, my suggestions would be Du Reichst So Gut, Links 2-3-4 Mein Herz Brennt or Sehnsucht.
[Intro] “Looking for a well-built 18 to 30-year-old to be slaughtered” The Master Butcher [Verse 1] Today I will meet a gentleman He likes me so much he could eat me up Soft parts and even hard ones Are on the menu [Pre-Chorus] Because you are what you eat And you know what it is [Chorus] It is my part - no My part - no There that's my part - no My part - no [Verse 2] The dull blade good and proper I'm bleeding heavily and feeling sick Although I have to fight to stay awake I keep eating while in convulsions [Bridge] It's just so well seasoned And so nicely flambéed And so lovingly served on porcelain And with it, a good wine And gentle candlelight Yeah I'll take my time You've got to have some culture [Pre-Chorus] Because you are what you eat And you know what it is [Chorus] It is my part - no My part - no Because that's my part - no Yes it's my part - no [Verse 3] A cry will ascend to heaven It will cut through hosts of angels Feather-flesh will shriekingly fall From the top of the clouds onto my childhood [Chorus] It is my part - no My part - no Because that's my part - no Yes it's my part - no It is my part - no My part - no Because that's my part - no Yes it's my part - no
There's also a pun in this song. In German, "mein Teil" can mean 'my part', but it just as well can mean 'my penis' (cf. English private parts). Fits well with the theme of the song :')
I'm pretty sure Rammstein mean "my penis" when they say "mein Teil". The lyrics are based on Armin Meiwes and Bernd Brandes better know as "der Kanibale von Rothenburg" and his victim. Meiwes was searching for a young man to eat in the www and Brandes wanted to be eaten. They met and before Brandes would be killed he wanted to eat his Penis together with Meiwes. And well, that's what they did. That is the reason why Till wrote that he continues to eat even though he is in pain. When they say "weiche Teile und auch harte" (Soft and hart parts) they also describe a penis which can be soft and hard (and Meiwes also said, that the penis got very hard and chewy when cooked)
I seen a translation video by a German Rammstein fan and he explained Mein Teil as My Thing/fetish. Also have heard a german pop song called Teil fur Mir, which I'm assuming would translate to 'Thing for Me'. Possibly with hidden meaning being penis for me, which I assume isn't German kid friendly 😂
There is a problem with reactions to deutschland. Almost every reaction to a rammstein "not live" video will be taken down in minutes. Unfortunatly there is no live performance to deutschland yet.
This song is about a real case of cannibalism that happenned in Germany. React to live songs like Engel, Sonne or Amerika in Madison Square Garden or Paris. It´s epic!!
This song is about a man who put out an add for someone who wanted to be eaten. another man replied to the ad and thus this really amazing song and live show became a reality. Side Note: they are all trained in pyrotechnics so the keyboardist is wearing a fire retardant suite while he's being lit on fire. They had also been banned in the state of Colorado for many years because of the insane pyrotechnics.
Interesting fact. Till, the lead singer, is certified. He is one step away from being able to demolish building, and is meticulous. There have been times when other band members forget where they need to stand in order to avoid pyro, and you can see videos of Till rushing over and pulling them out of harms way. There is never a time when a pyro effect is going off that Till doesn't have timed to perfection, and you'll notice, if there is loose flame, he is the exclusive controller of it for this reason. And the best part is, he makes it look so easy.
Rammstein puts on some of the most elaborate, entertaining concerts I've ever seen. Plus their sound reminds me of a band I really loved way back in the day, Hanzel und Gretyl.
You would love Sonne by Rammstein especially when they did it live in 2010 at Rock am Ring. Such a good song. You can find the 2010 Rock am Ring live performance of the song on RU-vid. Highly recommend it!
It's always a pleasure to be a part of someone's first Rammstein experience. These guys have had a regular rotation in my music since the mid 1990s. I've had the extreme pleasure to see them twice. The first time wasn't hugely extravagant, but I did see them again a few years ago. Took my two then teenage kids who were raised them. It was a great time to share with them. Lol, and no, no signing anything to go to one of their shows. One more thing thing, this song Mein Teil, in case you didn't know is about a German serial killer who also happened to be a cannibal.
Absolutely thrilled that you're checking out Rammstein. This is the very first song of theirs I heard and watched live from Japan. Hooked from that moment on. Even have learned some German. Mein Teil is My Part in English, btw. If you want to know what a show is really like, they're playing L.A. in September. Please check out "Ich tu dir Weh' (I hurt You), live. This will give you the precursor to the keyboardist's treadmill from Du Hast. Oh, and love your other reactions, too. Especially Living Color! How about checking out Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds or solo Nick Cave. So many songs, so I'll give you one of beauty and one older one that's just damn scary! "Into My Arms", gorgeous and sad. For the waaaaay back, it's The Birthday Party (still Nick Cave), "Sonny's Burning". No video, but the lyrics will provide plenty of visuals. P.S. Indie DJ here, love what you're doing and I'm a wellspring of bands from everywhere!
The first Rammstein reaction of yours I saw was Du Hast and immediately though, “oh dear, I hope he didn’t stumble across Mein Teil.” Well, here we are. Lol. The actual music video is really creepy.
Been a Rammstein fan since hearing Du Hast in 2001. How wonderful it is to watch someone react to hearing their music & seeing their stage personas for the first time. You are a joy to watch.
Good music comes to all ages...btw.: Actually Till Lindemann is 57 years old. I am listening to Rammstein for more than 20 years now and seen them several times live and he seems to stay young. Btw.he fought Corona a few days before including one or two days intensive care. This man is a undestroyable beast. He is also doing some lyrical project as a musical solo career and is one of the most polarizing acters in Germanys modern music scene, who likes playing with provocation and stereotypes. Against the claim of being a facist ,what especially the lyrics of " links 2 3 4" clearly deny, his musical career startet in a ultra-left Punkband "First Arsch" in eastern Germany. And it seems he will be going on the next decades so you will have definetely the opportunity to see Rammstein live. Long story short: You are never too old to rock'n'roll !!!
This song is about Armin Meiwes who posted an ad on a cannibalism forum called The Cannibal Cafe with the ad stating as follows: "looking for a well-built 18- to 30-year-old to be slaughtered and then consumed." Bernd Brandes answered the advertisement and arranged a meeting time and date. When they met in March of 2001 in Meiwes' home, they made a home movie showcasing Meiwes amputating Brandes' uh..."part" and the two men attempting to eat it together. Brandes later collapsed due to blood loss and was subsequently killed by Meiwes who later portioned out all of the body parts and kept it in his freezer for consumption at his own pace. Meiwes consumed up to 44 pounds of human flesh before he was arrested after advertising for more victims online and was reported by a college student who happened upon the ad.
Have listen to Rammstein since early 2000's. First song I heard was Du Hast that played on the radio. When I heard the song I looked them up and have listen to them since. Very iconic band, with great meaning. They don't sugarcoat anything. Though watching their live stuff is amazing, look up their in studio recorded with music videos. Look up the song Mein Herz Brennt.
Jamal, my man.. Thank you.. just thank you.. I have not laughed this hard in a while. Can’t stop smiling at your reactions. “What is going on!” was my exact reaction for years and years! I just finally stopped questioning and just enjoyed.
LOL I've seen Rammstein three times, and I always knew what was going to happen here because it's in the song. ;) Dinner time! hahaha Definitely the best band to see live, hands down.
Here's a translation of the Lyrics... Tonight I'm going to meet up with a gentleman Who has me over for dinner Soft parts but also the hard ones. Shall be on the menu charts Because you are what you eat And you know exactly what it is. It is my own part Oh no! It is my own part Oh no! There lies my own part Oh no! My own part The blows reverberating good en powerful I'm losing blood and I'm feeling unwell Do I have to battle my own powerlessness too? I continue eating while cramping up. But it's so nicely spiced with a light flambé And served on porcelain in such a loving way To the side we'll have a lovely wine and candle light I'm glad my final hour will be cultured. Because you are what you eat And you know exactly what it is. It is my own part Oh no! It is my own part Oh no! There lies my own part Oh no! My own part The screams reach out to the heavens Cutting through the angels' wings Their feathers start falling down from the clouds As it rains down on my childhood with loud shouts It is my own part Oh no! It is my own part Oh no! There lies my own part Oh no! My own part
White actually, this was a real case in Germany 10 years ago. The cannibal did an ad in the newspaper, that he is searching for someone, who wanted to be eated. There was one guy, who agreed this pact. The whole ritual was filmed by the killer, and the guy was eated. After knowing the story, you will better understand, what Till Lindeman is singing about. Horroristic.
I just watched Du Hast reaction, which I remember back when was new, and then went to this reaction. These two reactions got me to look up the Paris concert, I hope I got the right one, and ordered the Blu-Ray. I am looking forward to it once it arrives.
@@OneDewaholic I don't understand you say "death of music" music is alive when it is played by real musicians and plays real instruments. well ... maybe you'd like Justin Bieber.
THe number one best part about this particular performance is just that raw passion and energy that Till puts into the section after the second chorus, that breakdown before the fire show. EPIC
A little "tip" for future Rammstein reactions: you pronounce the band's name like you pronounce Frankenstein. ; ) PS: the song's name is pronounced like "mine tile".
It just occurred to me how long it's been since I saw Rammstein in concert. You want to see something neat, look up how they perform their song "Rammstein".
this song is about as psycho as it gets, the story its based on is so psychological that i listened to nothing but this song for 1 full week and i had to stop the experiment because i realized it was making me insane and my mental health was being de-stabilized thats how heavy Rammstein gets when it comes to story-telling i think i might even still have sequels from that experiment to this day and that was at least over 10 years ago
I saw Rammstein in 2011 at the Air Canada Centre, Toronto. At first I was disappointed by being up in section 321, but after feeling all the heat from the pyro way up there, I'm kind of glad I wasn't closer. :-) I still can't believe the city let them do all that pryo inside.
Seeing this live was one of the highlights of my concert life. The story of this song is totally bonkers. Flake is always the fall-guy in their vids and shows LOL
I don’t know if it’s true, looks right to me, but Flake was supposed to play more keyboard as in the beginning, more like nine inch nails. But he found himself with little to do and started getting in the way on stage, thus the Treadmill.
Hayseed Dixie did a cover of Mein Teil. It sounds kind of goofy, but it's fun to listen to. Edit: And, no my friend, the crowd knows eeeeexxxxxactly what is about to take place.
That was my request, too! Watched Jamal react to Du Hast from Paris and his questioning Flake's treadmill. Thought live Ich Tu dir Weh (I Hurt You) would be a great follow-up. Plus, steel bathtub, etc. Awesome.
My favourite driving tune! That song coming on and putting the peddle down on 350 horses can really cheer me up after a crappy late night at the office.
Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London or Lawyers, Guns & Money are a couple of my favorites. I don't think i've seen anyone else react to it either. Great musician. Very underrated.
Till Lindemann who is the singer of Rammstein once punched a hole in his mouth so he could put a light through for a song. Thats that :D They are amazing. I love these guys so much. They are so critical of the society we live in and show that in their songs. "Wiener But" for example, which is about the case of the Austrian Josef Fritzl who held his own daughter captive in his basement for 24 years.
So glad I got to see them last summer,,, 👍 I'm afraid no concert ever will measure up after that🔥🔥🔥 Im almost balled but my few hairs was constant in distress😂😂🎶🎶🔊🔊
I was born in Mexico..when we first had the internet..I remember using Google to translate the lyrics into Spanish...when I moved into the US I had to use google to translate from Spanish into English! that's how I know what they're saying.. this band is the best! awesome video! Keep it up!.
Till Lindemann is a Pyrotechnician, the singer prepares and checks every single pyrotechnic, i have seen a trend on bands with this specific.. Lordi for instance. Mr Lordi is the same
