That's what I love about bands up until the mid 80's, they sound almost the same live as on their album. They had to actually know how to play in time and record everything at the same time, in as few takes as possible. They couldn't afford extra time in the studio
That was when they were unpopular. Johnny made it popular but it is a rare guitar on top of that, There are only between 140 and 180 original ones around. The last one on eBay went for $5,000.
could have gone?? they toured for 22 yrs straight over ten studio and live albums and gigs every week...rock n roll hall of fame, johnny has his own sig mosrite, joey his own street, deedee his own legacy, tommy wicked sucessful producer...ect they pretty much did it all man
I went to their concerts 26 times. Goddamit Ramones, why did you have to Die? You ruined my entire life by dying. Goddammit to hell! I know you saved Rock 'n Roll, some day these other people will know it too. There are no words in the English language to describe how much I love The Ramones! Da Bruddaz! ;(
Yes, Seriously. A good way to identify original ones is the bridge - Unmodified ones have a unique tremolo only seen on those guitars and a handfull of the German Carve Ventures II models. (Johnny modified the four Mark II Slab Body models he played)
@101Volts yep too bad! mosrites are fuckin' great guitars, i got a mosrite celebrity bass for a 1000 bucks, and that's the most delightful bass i've been playin' on...
Mosrite guitars... Amazing instruments, Compared to vintage Fenders they're pretty reasonable, Even the Mark II which Johnny played which is the model worth the most goes for under $7,000. (Ironically it was discontinued because it looked too cheap) Compared to, say, a 1954 Strat for way over $50,000 that is a drop in the bucket.
The pitch on this audio sounds between 60 and 80 cents too high. The chords don't sound like A D E, they sound like A# D# E#. Maybe I'm crazy, but Joey's voice doesn't even sound deep enough. All that aside, this is an awesome performance =)
@deathbypowerglove haha ur right man, i just hate that everyone LOVES the beaetles but they dont know really anything of them, it kinda pisses me off but yeah haha sham 69 is the shit
The whole punk new wave scene was a conspiracy. The Ramones are the answer to Devo's concept of devolution, both bands of which whose members met and formed a band between 73 and 74. Is it such a coincidence that both bands dabbled in the debauchery of the Andy Warhol scene? The whole thing was just the CIA trying another tactic to get enough kids into the slacker lifestyle, just like the greaser era, the beatniks and, of course, the fucking hippies. The metal and grunge scenes are no exception, and don't forget rap. Country's no exception either. Realize this people, these categories of entertainment are meant to group people into herds of pre planned personas by those who fabricated it. You know when you see someone dressed a certain way and you might think "I bet that kid likes rap" or whatever stereotype it is; leather jacket ripped jeans (punk), or long hair flannel and skinny jeans. They probably skate right? Hey dipshits, the government planned most of the stereotypes we know today, including racial.
The clash were cliché, terrible song writers who only caught on due to their lame political posturing, the sex pistols were a boy band, THE RAMONES WERE THE ONLY BAND THAT MATTERED IN THE 70'S.
