Classic scene. It's like a Frankie Avalon film on steroids. I once skipped an afternoon college class so I could go see the movie. I was a big fan of the Ramones from the day I first heard the Rocket to Russia album. (How many of you are old enough to remember albums... before they were called "vinyl", like they are these days?)
I belonged to a punk rock band in college and we played this song in music lecture hall and I my professor was like Togar: Ugly person in and out. Till this day my friends in the old band still laugh about those times.
1:19 About the fire bomb stunt: "The explosion was created with the chemical compound naphthalene, which reacts based on the applied amount and the temperature-the colder it is, the larger the explosion. Finnell meticulously researched the temperature for that time of year in Los Angeles, which was typically in the mid-50s. That night, however, the temperature dropped to the mid-30s to low-40s. “You can see the breath of some of the people,” says Arkush.” The explosion took place well past midnight and ended up being three times larger than the filmmakers anticipated. In the scene you can clearly see the building getting scorched and the American flag going up in flames. “We may have lost a couple of windows, I don’t remember now, but I think that was… Yeah, we probably did,” says Arkush, abashedly. “We got in so much trouble. The neighborhood was furious and the police were furious because we had broken the permit”
Thanx to the RAMONES for all the energy, the power, the emotions that you gave us! You will live for ever in our hearts, you will never forgotten by all the Rock 'n Roll lovers.......
Still a great song, still hate the adults in the film saying they are ugly people,No you adults in the film are just old as hell, lol 😁👍 and can't appreciate the youth of the 1970s
@Srnigros i'm 15, n i've been listening to this kinda music since i was like 8. age doesn't really matter, what matters is whether you know what real music is.
They actually did dynamite my old high school a few years ago because the town was building a new one up the street. If I could have pushed the detonation switch, I woulda gone back to town just for that!
To add to my comment below: I was an extra in this movie. I was in the crowd during this scene and others. The thing that stands out from this night was that, between takes, Joey Ramone would just stand there, front and center, with a blanket around him, drooling (I kid you not!) and shivering. When the camera rolled, he turned on his act and did great. Then he would go back to drooling and shivering until the next take. The explosion was huge and very hot, even from the distance we were at.
