13:17 YES, FINALLY! some recognition for neptunia RPG, the story, art style and music are awesome in that game. It is kinda hard before you know how the game works but as long as you understand type advantages in that game and how equipments can give you permanent skills once you master them the gameplay too is a solid 8/10

I kinda like the protagonist in Hyperdevotion gives us a better idea of how they might act around a normal guy as most of us are Also here's hoping for a Super nep sequel that has the candidates

Really interesting tier list. I guess I agree with quite a few of the rankings on there. I myself haven't played the PS3 games, but it seems that the people who have played mk2 and Victory generally like the original games more than the remakes. I would have ranked 4GO maybe a rank lower because of all the technical issues I had with the game. Super Nep RPG is either an A or S and Sega Hard girls I liked so that would be B I guess. Also since I've only played the Re;Birth games I guess they are all an A for me while not ranking the originals. So yeah, not all that different. Really nice video. You went really in-depth with every game and talked about pros and cons which was particularly interesting. I liked the video a lot.

Im going to throw some other Compile Heart games outside of the neptunia series just because they are really good. S: VII, Mk2, Death End Re;quest, Fairy Fencer F remake, A: RPG, Neptunia 1, Mary Skelter 1 and 2 B: Sega Hard Girls, Victory, 4GO C: Neptunia U, Megatagmension, Hyperdevotion Noire D: Producing Perfection

Compa's grandpa, Gust, the way IF (at least to me) comes off as the main character, the Clunky yet crazy powerful custom combos, the clever references and the writing in general. There was a lot I hated about the first game but these few things kept me hooked and how I became a fan. I wished Blanc vs zombies kept the clothes break mechanic. Nep PP I liked exclusively for the dialogue and for Nep's song Good tier list man

Personally ReBirth;1 is my all time favorite. Something about it being not only the first game, but the lesser amount of fan service and more story elements to it make it outstanding. The gameplay is very fun, it’s story driven, and the fighting mechanisms are way easier than the originals.

Yeah I'm part of the crowd that was introduced to the series via the Re;Birth games and would definitely rank them higher than you did. I plan to play the originals at some point but for now the extent of my knowledge of them comes from this channel, it does seem some good things were lost. Especially Compa's grandpa lol.

Not a bad list, I agree with about half of it. I would say the rebirth games really helped the series, giving it a great touch up and I never really thought the dialogue stopped being witty and funny, but I did miss the compa grandpa jokes. I will say that I loved rebirth 3, I tend to see most of the fandom be 50\50 on it, either is one of your favorites or one of your least favorites.

The R/W Discs were a lot of fun in the first game for PS3. The crazy skills in MkII and V were also great (Legendary Seven Skills)

Great vid YSN, I can totally see what you mean and get your opinions. Mine is very similar except I haven't played neptunia RPG yet but am greatly looking forward to it. I'd probably say the 1st one on ps3 is my favourite. I adore it quite a bit and it really seems to be where most of my love for the series comes from. I like them all but that one really is the one that sold me. Great content as always :3 any plans to do other tier lists in the future? Like possibly for Senran Kagura or Disgaea? Eh eh

i completely agree with S tier. mega and rpg are easily my favorite nep games.

U made me fantasize about a VR only title where you can play one of the goddesses with their powers and weapons in single player or with 3 others in co-op.

One thing I adore about Blanc Vs Zombies is the enemy designs. Man I wish there were more cartoony enemies in the Nep series as I think it fits well to the aesthetics.

Almost 100% agree with this list. The only thing I'd change would be the rankings of the original PS3 trilogy. I'd put 1 and 2 below V. 1 in C tier, because of the dungeons and combat, and 2 in B tier only because I wasn't too keen on the 3D character models during cutscenes. Other than that, totally agree!

I'm glad that they added overworld encounterable enemies in Re;Birth1. With the way that the original handles encounters in dungeons, it looks very annoying to deal with. Megadimension Neptunia VII is the game that introduced me to the Neptunia series. And to say that I liked it would be a HEAVY understatement... I LOVED the game! So much in fact that I sunk in 89.8 hours in under 2 weeks while getting all 3 endings the game has to offer. I used to hate character interactions in gaming, but Megadimension Neptunia VII made me love character interactions due to the amount of 4th wall breaks, game references, etc. I got the Bad Ending first by complete accident and I still think that it's complete bull to have to go outta your way to get any ending, and then I went for the Good and True endings in New Game Plus.

Maybe the 3 rebirth games would be more fun to play though if the lvling and whatnot carried over from game to game, but then they might as well have been one game combined I guess.

you are actually the only youtube so far that i follow on the "niche games" subject (i still just call them anime games), and i just got curious. Have you ever played or at least seen a game called Honkai Impact 3rd? Its a free to play phone game... a phone game?! what, me, playing a phone game. I have never liked any phone game since usually its just some low quality pay2win crap. BUT this one surprised me, after playing for a while i could actually compare it to many PC games that i play normally. Plus now there is an actual PC port, which works pretty well. But anyway, the whole reason i had this question come up is because i was recently playing 4 Goddesses Online with a friend, and i realised how similar the gameplay is between these 2 games. I even kept mixing up the combat strategies XD So simply im just curious what you think of the game, or have you ever played/seen it

just started playing the first Rebirth never had the original games Loving the humour and the Characters are awesome and funny and you actually care about them as character not just how waifu some of them are, the next series im gonna play through is Senran Kagura

I kinda agree with your list, the only exception is Sega heart Girl I would put in the E section. Only thing I didn't enjoy of that game was that it was time based. You have to fight the final boss within a few days otherwise the longer you take the stronger it gets. So unless you want to fight a Super Hard Final Boss you need to fight it within a time limit which doesn't let you explore more of the worlds or interact with the other Sega Girls.

I'm fairly new to the series. I finished the re;birth trilogy as this comment and VII. Haven't gotten the chance to play the spin offs yet. But I'd say my favorite from what I played are 2>4>3>1. I found it surprising that you rank the original trilogy higher. When looking into the series I always heard playing the re;birth games were better. So I never touched the PS3 originals.

Love this idea and a different perspective on the games. While I agree with the mainline series (I didn't mind the first game gameplay and I never played the remakes, never liked buying games twice if I already have the original) I have different opinions on the spin offs. I think both Blanc's game and hyperdimension u should both be C as I like them but I do play a fair amount of action games so they just might feel underwhelming to me. Cyberdimension I'd probably put at B just because I'm not really an MMO guy (on how the combat feels). And I would put Noire's game at A because I love tactics games. While I haven't played disgea I love Fire emblem and Final Fantasy tactics and while it's not as deep as those games it is still fun. I didn't really see the guy as a self insert (probably because I'm more of a Blanc guy lol) but I liked their interactions. The story wasn't amazing but it was enjoyable. Looking forward to hearing more in the future and it was cool to hear this. Continue to spread the love of hyperdimension my people!

Great overall! You've got there bro! Rebirth 1(Official Superdimension) and Megadimension Vll are the best Neptunia mainline. They are from separate or different dimension, and 4GO is the only best Neptunia spin-off game. Neptune is the most cutest protagonist and Noire is my top favorite Neptunia girl, that's why they are best girls. Hyperdevotion Noire and PP sucked due Secretary and Self-insert, they deserve lower rank to F! Subscribed!

Great video. I just finished rebirth 1,2 and 3. I enjoyed the stories a lot but felt the end of 3 dragged a lot. I skid think the games would be better if they dropped some of the silly enemy types (like floating screens and Mario pipes) and went more with dungeon matching enemies. I also hated the move to special moves being all tied to SP in 3 and so much being locked behind the challenges. I am excited to now play megadimension. It ref feels like I have eaten my veggies and now it’s time for desert.

IMO, I need to revisit the series. MK2 was my start and I liked Nepgear's progression into leading role. Victory warmed up to me cause I guess I can't accept certain things as Ultradimension shenanigans, but I wished Ploot was better executed. Her sadism is obviously uncalled for and I thought she should have been called out on it more. Haven't played Megadimension, guess I go with VIIR since that is the recent one. Also, wtf is with Compile and remakes. Just port the damn things to PS5 like it is, the brand is popular enough that people would love to play the old stuff.

I wish there it was a way to play the original Neptunia game, but with the all the gameplay goodies of the rebirth remakes (even better using the VII gameplay) but it seems Im stuck watching the story on youtube

Very enjoyable video! I don’t really agree with the main line rankings when it came to the rebirth games. I haven’t played the PS3 games. I’ve only watched videos of them, but I will say the way the story is done is much better than the rebirth games.

My favourite game in the series would probably be Vs sega hard girls And I'm pretty sure Blanc Vs zombies world setting was based off of a short lived manga? I thought RPG was pretty good, the game play and art style are fun and cute. But I thought the story was a bit lack luster

I agree with most of the rankings, but I'd swap Super Neptunia RPG with Cyberdimension 4GO since I had more glitches while playing Super Neptunia RPG believe it or not (mostly the magic glitch). And yeah, the AI is obviously janky in 4GO so I agree it isn't perfect either, maybe it's just me, but it somehow never crashed for me and I just liked it more overall.

I think Super Nep RPG would have done better if they ever put it on mega sale like they do with all the other nep games.

My first game was Mk2 (in 2017...I arrived late to the series and all I had available at the time was a PS3 :/ plus it was like £10 so even if I found I didn't like it it's not like I spent a lot of money on it) and I really loved it, even if the game ran kind of badly in terms of FPS and using HDD was kind of pointless (used AP every turn, so unless you only wanted to use it for 1 or 2 turns you were basically restricted to low damage rush attacks, which counteracts the increased stats of HDD), it was my first PlayStation platinum trophy and agree with it's A rank. Second game was Victory, it was ok, gameplay was a step up from Mk2, but I found the story less interesting. Also I'm a little biased because Nepgear is my favourite character and she was treated pretty badly there. I think I'd give it a B. Third was VII, which to date is my favourite in the series. I loved almost everything about it, combat was really fun, story was great for the most part, comedy was great as usual, Uzume is a great character, really liked the Gold Third, Affimax and Kurome, art was great (dungeons, new cutscene portraits, next form designs, etc) and the music was amazing. However it wasn't perfect; the way the next forms was introduced in the first fight using them was badly done and the random encounters while fun initially just got annoying eventually as they never posed any potential threat after 10-15 hours or so. Also I usually don't mind fanservice, and actually quite like it (I mean...let's be honest, most of us who like the series are probably the same) but there were a few scenes where it felt unnecessary, particularly a scene in the Lowee route where Blanc, Rom and Ram are in bath towels for like 5 lines then go back to normal, I mean...why? However other than that scene, fanservice is about normal for a Neptunia game. Overall it was my third or so PlayStation platinum trophy (after Mk2 and I think another non-Neptunia game) and agree with it's S rank. Next was Four Goddesses Online, and it was really enjoyable too. A great break from the mainline games I had played previously. Story was fun, but the ending was a little anti-climactic. Everyone was fun to play, but Uni was a bit overpowered and made the game really easy. I LOVED the outfit designs, they look really good and fit with their characters while still being a completely different style to their regular outfits (I particularly really liked Noire's outfit). Would have been nice to play the other characters (Uzume, IF, Compa etc), but it's not a huge problem. Other than the strange AI behaviour for the party members I never had a problem playing it on PS4 other than the 5 or so minute initial loading of the game, although I never tried the multiplayer. Was my 4th PlayStation platinum trophy and again agree with it's A rank. Next was Action Unleashed (finally started PC gaming), and again I had a lot of fun with it. It was different enough from 4GO to still be fun, and although the clothes breaking was kind of unnecessary, it at least did have a gameplay function. Story was meh, it was alright, but kind of forgettable too. Gameplay was fast and it was a blast to just rip through massive hoards of monsters. Kind of felt similar to God of War 3 in that way. I'd agree with the B ranking. Then was Re;birth 1. I really liked this game too. Gameplay was similar to Victory, but the story was a lot of fun and overall I enjoyed RB1 more than Victory. I'd give it an A or B rank, possibly leaning a little more towards A. Then was Neptunia Shooter which was...interesting... Next game was Super Neptunia RPG...which I got about 4 hours into and never finished. It's not that I wasn't enjoying the game, I was, it's just that I was going by quite slowly and then had to deal with some IRL stuff. I haven't picked it up since, but plan to do so at some point. I also have SeHaGirls, Blanc+Neptune vs Zombies, HD Noire, VIIR, RB2 and RB3 which I plan to play at some point, but haven't gotten around to yet for similar reasons to why I still haven't finished RPG.

Is this safe to watch sopiler-wise if I've only played Re;Birth 1 yet? I don't care much about spoilers regarding the spin-offs, but I still have Re;Birth 2-3 and VIIR to play. (Edit: brain farted and forgot to type one word)

I finished and enjoyed super neptunia rpg but i would give it a B as there are loading problems for me and its glitchy I've soft locked the game and other minor glitches multiple times but the combat and story are still very fun

To be honest Re Birth 2 is not favorable that i understand but Re Birth 3 is actually on pair with Re Birth 1 to me i mean it's had a cluster of characters and a very good core gameplay you can say that for me Re Birth 3 is like everything good with Re Birth 1 + fixing mistakes and enhanced from Re Birth 2 and Finally the Megadimension Neptunia VII is the most favorite for me by far, i don't like VIIR though.

ReBirth 1 on PC was my first Neptunia, so that's my reference point for the tone of the series, but honestly, it's 'too playful.' Like nothing that happens matters at all, everything is just an excuse for the characters to have a funny reaction. I don't have a good sense of what the tone was like in the ps3 games.

VII = the best... and I also liked Neptunia RPG I have to confess.. noire + sega on vita also were not too bad. I only disagree on 4 goddesses, I did not like it at all (not even animated skits!!). For me it was unfortunately the beginning of the end for IF given all the crap that followed... RPG and Mary skelter apart ;) Personal opinion.

So V II > V II R which means when I buy *V II on the Nintendo Switch* instead of V II R on the the PS4, it’s not going to be a mistake?

Although I started with rebirth 1 then played the other rebirths and weren’t to happy with them. I went back and played the originals I loved them so much more. If you have ps3 play the originals you won’t regret it. I agree with the whole list except 1 thing I liked viir more then VII.. controversial but I liked then new battle system and enjoyed the new graphics. But I do agree that VII is still S tier. Spin off my favorites would be NepU and Super-dimension but again I like the battle system. I just don’t like the rebirth/mk2/VII battle systems.

Super RPG lacks too many combat nice to haves for me. Too complicated to switch party due to skill setup. Lowers it for me. Buffing also works oddly and not on par with expectation.

It's nice to see some love for Super RPG, I picked that game up for half price and wasn't as bad as I've heard. I can only really compare to the Rebirth games and VII since they're the only ones I've played. I would probably rank them VII > Re1 > Re2 > Re3 and I need to play Super RPG more until I can place it.
