I feel like Imposter should at least be in the "dunno" tier (for now). Calvin genuinely doesn't know anything about him yet. But if just the fact that he looks like Togami during the time period Calvin has seen him is enough to go in "go home" then that's Calvin's choice. 🤷‍♀

And you're clarifying here that you're ranking them* based on the "Ultimate Imposter posing as Togami during chapter 1" character that you know, which makes sense, and is totally fine. It's just that the argument could be made that you still haven't met the actual Imposter; I won't clarify what happens where, but there's still Danganronpa media you haven't seen where we get more insight into the Imposter's true character. It's not totally clear in the video that you're judging them based on the persona you met, seeing as you put Mukuro in "dunno" instead of judging based on her Junko persona, but you're making that clear here so it's all good! (* I said "he" in the previous comment, and Imposter seems to prefer male-presenting disguises so I don't think "he" is necessarily wrong, but perhaps a gender-neutral pronoun is most correct.)

#4 How about not convince Monokuma to give everyone a reason to go into the virtual world when you know in advance Miu is planning to kill you there? He spotted the trap and decided to push Gonta into it rather than avoid it altogether. You can't tell me there wasn't a way around this by getting others involved, even if trust in Kokichi was low. Just getting Gonta to accompany him to the roof out in the open would mean Miu couldn't kill Kokichi without a witness who she didn't have a plan to kill. Kokichi didn't even have to go to the roof at all. Something had to be done about Miu but this was NOT it, no one HAD to die

@@yeeyee2985 kokichi knew that he was being targeted, and this was a blessing. if he didn't kill her, she was guaranteed to try something else, and kokichi didn't know if he would be as lucky with figuring out the plan beforehand. kokichi wanted to create a group that was trusting of each other (proven in chapter 5) and other than him, miu was the weak link. he likely figured neutralizing miu was inevitable before even finding out about the plan.

@@macIanky group morale was already high following case 3 and even though Miu was the exception, why is the first thing Kokichi tries is killing her and sacrificing someone else the group trusted for it? Kokichi could've tried talking to her with others around or the group could've restrained her. Miu's inventions were an integral part of his plan and Kokichi was shown easily manipulating Miu's emotions especially throughout the game. I think it's silly enough that Miu made inventions that could fight the exisals (at Kokicki's request) and then decided killing everyone was the ONLY way out, but Kokichi definitely could've told her about how he had a plan to "save everyone" that didn't require killing. Of course, he couldn't tell her everything, but surely enough to dissuade her from killing. I just can't disagree more that Miu and Gonta dying HAD to happen and it was the right thing to do. Someone posing a problem to the group doesn't justify killing 2 people without trying ANYTHING else first. I get the appeal of Kokichi but I like him because he's a piece of shit. People often insist he was ultimately a good person but I just don't see it. The game encourages you to make your own conclusions about his intentions and that's mine.

​@@macIankythat's an assumption not the truth. Kokichi has no backstory to expain his actions. He acts as a plot device to push the narrative of lies vs truths.

I think that Gonta was still useful but he knew that he wouldn't be able to explain the virtual world stuff to the group and that's why he chose to make that sacrifice (that and because Gonta was literally the only one who would be willing to listen to Kokichi and work with him unlike the others... Poor boy...)

Mukuro written by Kodaka is quite different from the Mukuro in IF though, so I wouldn't really cite that as a good source for her characterization. It's very good authorized fanfiction and definitely worth a read! Just not really true to canon.

@@mcduncan9505 Haha, it sticks in my mind because I wrote a fanfic based loosely on IF once, and the day I sent it to my beta reader to check it just happened to be the very day that the episode of DR3 with Mukuro's debut aired, so my beta (who largely knows Danganronpa via anime and stage plays) immediately called me on her characterization lmao. 🙃

To be fair, the DR3 anime wasn’t written by Kodaka either, right? I haven’t seen the anime yet personally, but I’ve heard many… bad things about how Mukuro was written.

@@mcduncan9505 ?? Kodaka wrote the anime. He didn't finalize the screenplays, because he's not a screenwriter, but he wrote the drafts and was chief supervisor of the story.

@@dianapl6432 It seems like a lot of people binge-watch it and don't take the time to look for the clues that meant that the conclusion it was headed towards was the one that made sense the whole time (and not an "out of nowhere cop-out" like I've seen thrown around far too often), when really it was best consumed at the exact rate that it was broadcasted. Its a list of who Calvin likes, who is me, he annoyed me and I didn't like him so why would I put him Higher. I played the game and understood everything, that doesn't mean I have to like him. Sometimes people with different tastes is not "Oh they don't understand" sometimes its just "they have a different opinion"
