2022 is over! Gone and forgotten, never to be thought of or remembered ever again. However, there are a lot of watches from this bygone era that we need to mention. Today the boys are looking at the best and worst watches of 2022. Did Rolex drop the ball that Omega promptly picked up? Will other brands start making cheap plastic watches too? Do Michael and Christian think the UP-01 is dumb and stupid? Yes. That's a wee obvious though.

Matthew McConaughey didn't wear the Murph. He wore some other Hamilton. He gave this watch to his daughter, who's name was Murphy, which is actually the reason this watch is called Murph.

I must say you two remind me of LAUREL AND HARDY from the 1920s-30s. Funny, witty, but foremost very knowledgeable about watches. I am one of the fortunate that received THE CALL from my small AD . I bought a BLACK BAY 58 three years ago for my son. That was my only purchase until Nov. 2022. Iasked for a PANDA DAYTONA. Fast foward 3 years still no luck. In March 2022 after watches and wonders. I called and left a message stating I would love the new 2022 GMT LHD. 8 months later I got it. Still over the Moon about it. There are still MOM & POP ADS that care about us . I was very fortunate to have found one. Keep up your excellent videos.

You're wrong about the Hamilton at 7:50 (I'm sure others have noted). The dad wears the Khaki pilot day date (42mm) and his daughter ("Murph") wears the Murph 42. Very different watches (pilot vs. field, and day date). First released both in 42, now the Murph is in 38.

Since they didn’t know lol Changes from XVIII to XX are lug shrunk from 51 to 49.2, a color date-wheel to white, added in-house mvmt (that was mentioned) PR jump from 42 to 120!

The Jupiter Moonswatch is still badass. Didn’t ride the hypetrain and got one when the prices dropped to retail. If omega dropped that design on their regular speedies it would do really well

222 is a killer watch, comes across as the most elegant of the integrated bracelet category. PP and AP counterparts are too subdued or too aggressive/toyish for me.

Love your views, great work. I just brought the VC 222, you really want to get it on your wrist for a few mins etc. The bracelet is simply magical and better than any other bracelet, in my humble opinion. The gold just radiates class and quality. It may not have the hype of some other watches - but try and get one now, the waiting lists in most AD's are now decades long (just crazy). You highlight many great watches, which shows just how great the whole watch market is - so many great models to choose from. Have a good day.

Great discussion. Nice stats on Omega Christian - so that does make the Moonswatch a success - even if their rollout was an epic failure. Solid list - although R putting the crown on the left wasn’t exactly earth shattering.

Sprite is for us left-handed people. I think it is pretty cool. It does look a little different…like you are seeing your watch in a mirror. BUT when you wear your watch on your right wrist…this makes all kinds of sense!

My best was the Grand Seiko. After that, and not mentioned, the Omega chiming Speedmaster. That innovated in entirely new ways and looked fantastic.

the reason the "Moon-Swatch" worked was the theming, with the history of the moonwatch the colorful planets motif works, but i can't think of any other brand that could pull off all of that type of color variations with out it coming off as a cheap gimmick

Great video as usual!! Christian, the jacket looks great, but when I see it all I can think about is the metal button inside the cuff scratching up your watch and bracelet! I literally take all of my coats/jackets to the tailor and have a piece of fabric sewn on the inside to cover up the metal. It can't be just me that thinks this way...

I’m biased but I think the Tudor Black Bay Pro deserved a nod. Thickness is way overhyped (no thicker than the bigger Tudor gmt) and it’s gorgeous, accurate, and I think just enough like the old explorers and just different enough to ride the retro/modern line perfectly. Just my .02.

222 agreed taper that and release a steel version drop the price, have one in white gold. two tone and I think they have a winner on their hands. I would want the 222 in steel and white gold. very cool watch. I don't know why it just speaks to me.

Pelagos 39 in Rolex's mint green would really be something. Blue is the obvious choice and would certainly be successful, but that mint green would not only have a lot of people buying it but probably more people talking about it for net more publicity.

3:33 Michael, you do know that Omega has been offering Speedmasters in fantastic ceramic cases with their updated co-axial chronometer chronographs for a few years - right? Guess you didn’t. They offer Black Ceramic, Blue Ceramic, Grey Ceramic, and White Ceramic so far - sure there are more to come…

I had my tudor pelagos 39 for 1 day and sold it. Was extremely underwhelming. It films beautifully, but in the metal the bracelet felt like a cheap plastic toy with sharp edges. The dial was less interesting than the regular 42mm Pelagos. There is absolutely no comparison of a pelagos 39mm to a Submariner no date. Aesthetically, the Rolex looks richer, more vibrant in everything and the hour marker indicies have white gold that reflects the light, superior bezel action and looks etc... Pelagos 39mm was IMO just a smaller version of the regular one and is still a tool watch.

As a left-handed pool player who loves rolex, I would love to see more left-handed watches from all brands. I can not play pool with a watch on my left wrist because it feels so odd and weird, so I always move my watch to my right hand. But if the lefties get more recognition from all watch brands, it won't seem that weird that rolex has a lefty GMT

The RM is incomparable to the bulgari octo finissimo ultra. The Octo is volumes-wise way smaller than the RM. But most importantly, the Octo is a complete functional stand alone unit. The RM needs a externally component to wind the watch. By the RM standard you could just take a thin plate, put two hands on it, move them with a tool, or you finger, every minute and call it watch. bulgari octo finissimo ultra is still the thinnest fully functional watch.

Yeah the date didn't actually move. It's just the numerals on the dial are printed further in (like the tribute to Mk11 and 39mm spitfire). Date is at the same place.

Short term gain does not mean long term success! 🤷🏼‍♂️. It did cheapen the brand. You use to hear omega and Rolex in the same sentence. You never hear that now. Will it hurt omega as a brand? Long term I believe it will in reputation at least. Now you hear Tudor in comparison with omega. Just my opinion. 🤷🏼‍♂️
