Kwan gets no love. First two years in the league has two gloves, walks as much as he strikes out and is a .300 career hitter, likely will win the batting title this year. I think there is crazy value for this dude, especially if he can continue his defensive dominance.
In two mostly full seasons, he batted .282 In 69 games this year he has batted .352 which brought his career average up 14 points to .296 C is a fair grade. Especially given he plays for Cleveland, so he isn't getting any hobby power from that. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a really good player. But this is about whose cards are the best investments. If he wins the batting title, another gold glove and/or shows out in the postseason, I would move him up to a B.

Judge is generational, and although a lot of players decline around after age 32, IMO Judge is built to keep putting up incredible numbers for several more years, and finish out his contract, ending up as an all time great. Also, seeing how the Soto contract sweepstakes plays out will be really interesting.
I thought about B for him, but it felt a little too early. I think he deserves to be above Duran (which I mention in the video). Hopefully Greene can keep developing. I really like him! Thanks for watching!

That was Josh Naylor, not Bo. And while I wouldn't put him B tier or higher, he's the best active Canadian player which will make his cards valuable to a subset of collectors. That's worth a D at least imo.

Salvador Perez has 34.9 WAR. 9x All Star, 5x Gold Glove, 4x Silver Slugger and World Series MVP in 11 full seasons, 13 overall. Could very well end up with over 300 HRs, 1k RBIs and 2k hits in his career.
I think there is an argument for him for sure, but I am currently not sold. Fwar is usually prefered for catchers since it includes framing date, and he only has 17.2 fwar. On top of that, Jorge Posada was a one and done on the HOF ballot. Posada leads Salvy in every category currently. He also has a 121 ops+ vs Salvy's 105 ops+. Posada has 42.7 bwar and 40.9 fwar compared to Salvy's 34.9 bwar and 17.2 fwar. I just am not sure Salvy can accumulate enough to get in before he declines. I am rooting for him. We will have to see how it plays out.
Nice list Scottie, good fun. I would put Soto in with Ohtani with one caveat…if Soto resigns with anyone but the Yankees or Dodgers I would drop him back to an A. And I have Mookie also creeping up on S status as well, people still don’t give him the respect he deserves IMO
Hey Scott, can you do a vid on here or spit ballin cards ranking graded cards? Like where does a BGS black or Gold Label 10 rate up against a PSA 10 or SGA 10 CSG, HGA, TAG etc....
I think Judge and Soto are S tier plus they are super collectable for the long term. I think Tatis should be A tier because he is the face of the Padres and makes them electric to watch with his personality which sometimes baseball lacks. He has flair. Tatis just needs 1 crazy good season for his stuff that is a great buy right now to explode.
I think most is pretty well thought out. Bobby is an A more than Gunnar. Bobby has a more likable aspect to him than Gunnar. I think Judge should have been considered for S tier as a Yankee for life but an A for now is fine.

I think trammell and sweet lou have some collectability. Lou is a good buy imo. He will make the hall eventually. Kirk Gibson's cards have risen a ton also, but most people don't associate him with the tigers.

I suspect you put mookie "only" at an A because you worry you might be biased. He is an S. And wrt investibility, he's actually cheap by comparison. About Paredes: this kid is on his way to superstar. Hits for solid power. Has a quiet charm. Defense isn't awful and if it improves, watch out. His cards are dirt cheap. Bought a true blue auto for $30. I'm with you on Elly. Admittedly, he looks unstoppable, but guys get stopped all the time. It's too early to tell.

Problem is his age. He started late at 25 and he'll struggle to make it to 500 home runs. Without multiple rings it will be tough to make a hof case for him unless he plays like this for another 5 years

Soto is S tier. Barring injury he has a legitimate shot to hit 600 career home runs. He'll be top 10 all time in home runs for players before their 26th bday by the end of the season--and thats with being on pace to set the walk record with a career ops of .950

Bohm will be great for the long haul I think if he keeps playing like he is right now. One of the best 3b man in the league. Young stud that makes amazing plays and hits well…a D lol we shall see though.
I mean he is 27 years old and has 3 war. He is having his breakout season late in his career. If he was in his early 20s it would be a different story.
I think Riley Greene has very good potential if he stays healthy. Issac Paredes should have some fans from being young and a Mexican MLB player. Paredes rookies and autos cheap. Although not an all star this year Ezequiel Tovar seems undervalued.

@scottiebcards2354 I think Ohtani cards are over hyped. He is still producing but he has pitching still baked into his value and I think his pitching career is pretty much over. I've said this before on other platforms and have gotten railed for saying that. He wasn't an elite pitcher. Plus he's such a productive hitter, why jeopardize those at bats with mediocre pitching and potential to lose him to the DL. For this list, I think it's Harper, Ohtani, Soto, and Betts in the s tier. Judge had one monster season and he is doing well this year but I don't think he is up there with the others. Him being a yankee could bump him up there but if he wins anther mvp then he'll go up there. For now he is an A tier for me. You put salvy perez one higher in my book. I would have also swapped bobby and gunner. Correa maybe down a tier also. Everything else looks pretty spot on
Also I'd love to see tatis make a huge comeback. He served his suspension. He paid his debt. I think the steroids thing is taken to seriously. It made baseball fun to watch
Most of these guys are C/D or below. Almost all of these players have tiny markets NOW and nobody is going to care about them in 5-8 years. The only players worth "investing" in are top tier guys like Judge and Ohtani.
De La Cruz prices are pretty high right now. Are you concerned about the wear and tear his body will take having to steal that many bases a year? A lot of players have their stolen base numbers decrease considerably by the time they ge to the age 30. If he doesn't steal as many bases, are you still high on him for long term collectibility? How much more upside do you see in his hitting and you think he will be able to cut down on things like strikeouts? He's extremely talented and one of the most fun players to watch
Trea statistically is lacking behind and has a lot of work to do. JRam is closing in on a HOF career. Trea can pass him eventually, but I do not think he is there yet. Thanks for watching!

I’m wondering why there are no A’s players here. Because every team no matter how horrible needs to have at least one rep. For me personally, I think Brent Rooker definitely needs to be their all-star rep. But if he gets in, he’d probably deserve to make it into C list only. Just my take.
I mention in the beginning that I was only doing position players since it would have been way too many players. Most aren't great investments either. The gold Verlander sounds awesome! Great card!
@@scottiebcards2354 yes, I missed you say it was position players the first time. It's always been a bit of pet peeve of mine how pitchers get no respect during there active playing days. In the longer term however they do for example the 68 ryan being worth more than the bench.
Judge: Top 12 slugger... All Time. Statistically. He is12th in OPS, 10th in Slug and 2nd in AB/HR. So he statistically is no worse than the 12th best as it stands right now. Plays for the most popular and famous franchise that has a huge following in the hobby. Gonna be a two time MVP, ROY and he holds one of the most significant records in the game. How is Judge not S Tier? All I can think is injury history, but then Ohtani is S Tier and he has injury history as well. And his injuries were non contact injuries as opposed to Judges, who have been almost exclusively flukes caused by things like a HBP or poor park maintenance by the Dodgers. It should also be noted that Judge has his RCs in 2017 which had lower print runs than 2018 did. There are less parallels in 2017 where can makes the ones there are, more desirable. I see S Tier as Ohtani and Judge. No other player rises to their level of talent and sheer "must watchability"
Judge debuting late and having injuries is why he is not there yet. I also deliberatly put Ohtani innto his own tier because his cards may be not just the most collected of the generation, but some of the most collected ever. I think Judge can get there with another MVP this year, a strong year next year, and a WS at some point. I just think there is a little work to be done. altuve shouldnt ever be able to get into HOF, if shoeless joe isnt in... both performed very well on cheating teams, and supposedly neither were apart of it. but since the team cheated, they were sadly put in with the teams
I see what you are saying for sure, but I think the difference was that Altuve and his team waere cheating to win while the Black Sox were throwing the world series and trying to lose due to gambling. If Carlos Beltran gets in (the ring leader of the Astros Scandal) then it paves the way for Altuve in the future. I think he will get there personally the way baseball writers speak about him.

What happens with Kwan if he wins a third gold glove (in three seasons) this year and wins the batting title? He flirted with .300 as a rookie in 2022 while winning his first gold glove. He's already at a career high for HR and his slugging and OBP are also at career highs. I don't expect him to hit .350 every year but could easily move up if he continues to play outstanding defense while consistently being a guy who is in the batting race. This is especially true if the power sticks around and he also becomes a guy who hits around 20 HR per year.

@@garygordon3075 I don't think Arraez is a great comp. At the break Kwan is 1 HR away from Arraez's career high. Arraez also adds no defensive value. He's never had a 5 WAR season. Kwan had 5.5 as a rookie, is on pace to top that this year, and is a couple of years younger than Arraez. If the power continues to grow without sacrificing defense and contact the gap gets bigger as he moves into his prime.

Juan Soto is a joke to me. Decent offense but his defense is pathetic. Probably the worst by numbers in the mlb. Plus he’s on his 3rd team in such a short career. You can't deny that he can hit, but he's defense is average and passable, but he's not gonna get paid for his defense, so it doesn't make a difference. Not his fault that he got traded.
To be fair, Soto's offense is significantly higher than decent. Since 1960 Juan Soto has the 6th highest WRC± at 157 only behind Yordan Alvarez (164), Mickey Mantle (167) Aaron Judge (169), Mike Trout (169), and Barry Bonds (173). He is also having a much better defensive year this year. He is an league average-above average defender according to most metrics. He is league average according to DRS and has been above league average according to OAA (1 OAA). This is his third team, and that is a fair critique. Hopefully it is his last teams as well though, and being a Yankee will be good for his cards. Also, he is only 25 years old. That is younger than most prospects. That is why I am so high on him. Lol he's top 15 all time through age 25. He's a net zero to a touch above average fielder. Nobody is collectible because of their defense lol. Speaking of defense, Elly is leading baseball in errors and is a career .240 hitter while on pace to set the single season strikeout record. He's literally popular at card shows because people are told to like him, not because he's an S tier player.
