#ettajames #reaction Rapper FIRST time REACTION to Etta James - I'd Rather Go Blind! She's the GREATEST! wow Join this channel to get access to perks: / @blackpegasusraps
The amazing difference between Etta n the "nowadays" singers is the clothes they are wearing!!!. Etta doesn't wear skimpy clothes, nor twerk etc,...... She just stands up on stage fully garbed, respectfully, and belts out pure, unadulterated music from within,,, much respect to one of the greats🙏🙏🙏
No doubt, Etta is a great great singer, but you bad mouthing other artists bc of what they are wearing is ridiculous. If you don't like it, don't look.
@@whowantstoknow4168 I am not bad- mouthing other artists. I am only commenting, as I see it... And for your info ; I don't watch these so called artists. Their pictures/ videos etc are everywhere, you cannot help but have a glimpse... I am sorry if I made you angry. Wish you a peaceful day 🕊️
I keep wondering how will these young ones maintain longevity after the beauty fades and the bodies are overtaken by gravity. I so agree with you, I'm here for the music, and none of it matters if you don't have the instrument to carry it off. The voice is just as important as the percussion, strings and horns. Fully clothed(my preference) or naked, if you don't have it, don't bother.
@@alicecobb7763 You are a very gracious woman. You are entitled to YOUR OWN OPINION. An opinion that I fully agree with. Thank you for your kindness!! ❤❤
Sorry but I don't agree with your statement. Her voice and soul were directly connected. No pipes, no arrangement, no mixing, no interference... Just pure divine Light and human emotions ❤ Thank you Lady Etta James. May God bless you for your overflowing love 🙏🏾🕊💖
"I'd Rather Go Blind" is a blues song written by Ellington Jordan with co-writing credits to Billy Foster and Etta James. It was first recorded by Etta ...
What a voice! What a singer! It doesn't get any better than Etta James. She should be the biggest legend ever. Shame on the news media and the record executives who didn't promote her like they should. She should be a legend worldwide among all generations.
Right. I was so hurt when Beyonce sang "At Last" for the Obamas. I couldn't BELIEVE they didn't consult The greatest singer Etta James for her own song.
My German born Grandmother loved Etta, and when I went to see her in hospice on her literal last day I played "At Last" and she was semi conscious and reacted very positively to the songs I played for her. I was told not to come by my mother, Aunt, and Uncle, but they never understood the connection I had with her. So I drove from Philly to NYC to see her at 6am that day, and it was the greatest farewell I've ever had. I would have never been right if I didn't get to see, and feel her that day. She passed at 7:30 that evening. Sometimes family can be your worst enemy.
My Irish Grandma passed away from Alzheimer's complications, eventually, and she had a discernable positive response to two things almost to the end: Irish Folk Music and little doll baby's she could hold or lay next to. It was an amazing thing to witness
@@katiegwynn4495. I had the same experience with my mother. When she could no longer speak we I brought Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and other great vocals from the 40’s - 60’s. That is when I could see my mother peeking through. Gotta honor the music of their youth that brought them joy.
I am so happy that you got to see her. Got to see her on her last day on earth. I didn't get to see my mother on her last day on Earth. I really regret that. She died from covet and they wouldn't sit with her. I'm hungry
@@sfguidry1959 I'm so sorry to hear about your mother passing. Covid caused so much loss so quickly, and to be unable to even be there is heartbreaking. I truly believe she knows how you wanted to be there, and remember inside of us all our loved ones live on.
Man we had such talent back then, no bells and whistles just pure raw talent and emotion, maybe this is why a lot of us in our '70's grew up so well... we listened to every word of these phenomenal singers, felt that emotion and played the records till the grooves wore away... Wish you could have been there.. such great times. Thanks for this memory, from an old white woman in the UK...
There is still hope cus we do have Angelina Jordan :) and she covers them all ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pK8mMXQb3_I.htmlsi=BFVuSwymyasXk_Sj
I saw her many times. The last time I saw her was on the blues cruise a year before she died. It was clear she was suffering from dementia. Her guitar player would lean over and whisper the lyrics in her ear. Her band clearly lived her. I went to all three performances and sat in a corner where no one could see me cry. Hearing this today gave me chills. Bless you for sharing this wonderful woman with us.
When I was 14, I got the chance to see Miss Etta James and BB. King @ KU band camp. To say in real life it was 10X more powerful. BB.King was in tears when she preformed
@@lashondacarr1873I realize there is one person who when she sings, she reaches me in places of my soul. I loved SRV but Derek Trucks and his wife Susan, I've been there in live performance and weeping because they reach me in my soul
Ms Etta James was an absolute LEGEND!!!!! What a pitch perfect voice this beautiful lady had. Love her. Please listen to At Last well worth your time. Love from your 70 year old fan ❤
You should check out Beth Hart's version. Beth Hart is fire. She's absolutely off the hook and I guarantee you you thank me for turning you onto her. Start with fire on the floor , caught out in the rain , Love is a lie and then strange fruit. Trust me you're going to be addicted to her for a while
Buddy, you seriously need, without delay, to listen to Etta sing At Last. As moving as this performance of I’d Rather Go Blind is, well I can’t come up with words that will do At Last justice. You just really need to react to it. Her voice is beyond beautiful.
I love the flex of not using the mike 👏👏👏👏Her singing this with Dr John was just beautiful ❤ she was such a power house vocalist and we got to see her in tiny bars and clubs it was ridiculous . In the 70s the Master Blues Vocalists were barely making a living . Thankfully the Rock Crowd honored them and brought them back where they belonged, as our honored Artist ancestors ☮️
Etta James was very influential to Ms Janis Joplin. You can certainly see how! Etta is one of the nanny goats from back in the day. "At last" please. It's amazing. She's amazing...what a talented woman
Etta is the greatest vocalist of all time! Crazy, I just sent Etta's Stormy Weather to my daughter 2 days ago. Told her to grab her best ear buds, lay down, close her eyes and just soak in the greatness of that song!! So please more Etta! Any song, any time. Every single performance she does is perfection 🥰
I was blessed to see Etta James live at the Hollywood Bowl in the late 90s. She rocked the house, even though she was suffering from a couple physical ailments. She was funny and engaging, and her voice was as strong as she had been decades before. RIP Miss Etta.
Etta opened a whole world of music for me. I was a 20 year old rocker when I won tickets on the radio to see her at the Club Bluenote in Toronto. She made me realize that there was great music everywhere and my musical tastes expanded to so many genres starting that very night. Thank you Etta James.
My goodness, she is amazing! It always surprises me that one or two generations later have never heard the earlier music. So many wonderful artists are waiting for you!
Live blues are the best blues. It is all about the feels. There are fun music clubs for dancing and throwing down with friends. Start there to burn off some energy, but always end the night winding down with soul food and live blues like this.
Love, love, love Etta James!! If any of her songs were to sound familiar to u, it would prob be At Last! A few of my other favorites by her are, A Sunday Kind of Love, Stormy Weather, Something's got a hold on me, & Don't cry baby!
Another great performance is Christine Agularia sang at Etta’s funeral. It’s So loving and fantastic. Etta’s song “At Last” was sung by Beyoncé at President Obama s inauguration at his request. Also a beautiful moment. Etta was so loved by so many. Keith Richard’s of the Rolling Stones writes about her with such pain and love
Always loved Etta James. Never saw this before. So glad I got to share this with someone - you - that "got it". Can't do nothing but cry watching her perform this. Your reaction actually enhanced seeing this for the first time.
You should check out the documentary "Muscle Shoals" and also "Session Men: Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section". Etta James recorded this song at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. This small little town of 8,000 people in Alabama became the center of the music recording industry. You will learn a lot of music history.
Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone ... heart breaking, inspirational talents. Feel so blessed to have been exposed to these women at an early age.
💙💙💙💙💙🙏🙏🙏... Awesome reaction... I knew it would be!!! I was blessed to see Ettta James in the early 2000's at B.B. King's in NYC... and let me tell you, I will never forget it!! She was just as powerful as she was back then!!! At least one of her sons was in her band, but I think it was two. RIP Queen!!!!!!!🥀🥀🥀 Tears...Chills...(Had to come back to say... your reaction was beyond touching!!!!! Very sweet!!!) I'm SO looking forward to you going down the Etta James rabbit hole!!!
Now you will love a lady that sings for the group Alabama Shakes " Hold On" was a hit for them. It has soul form her heart. Hope to see you reaction to it. Thanks B P
I saw Etta James perform late in life, about 5 years before she passed. She was mesmerizing. She had to sit down for most of the show, but she still had that power in her voice. And let me tell you, it seemed completely effortless for her to belt out those songs.
So bizarre that people in America haven't heard Etta James! Never lived there, I'm over 60 and heard her music since I was a child. I guess better late than never.
Just the same way Americans call one country in Africa and immediately think that one country is the whole of the continent..it’s so irritating..this’s how it feels.
I had the privilege of seeing Etta James live once and it was beyond miraculous. She was something else. (I don't have the words to describe it. She's amazing)
I LOVE Etta James! If I had to crawl for miles to see her in concert, I would. She is, by far, my favorite soul/blues singer. No frills, just straight awesome voice. I use to have her albums, but burned them to CD's so that I can play them in my car. TY TY TY so much for reacting to Etta!
I came home after an 6 month patrol in the Navy.. Trying to surprise my Mom. She was pretty much deaf. I walked in and she had the state of the art stereo I sent home - up loud this song.. I listened in awe before I let My Mom know I was there. Shared Janis with here
EVERY time I listen to her it brings TEARS to my eyes. Doesn’t even matter what the song is about, it’s the depth of her soul that’s going straight to my heart. Se must have been an incredible person. Can’t believe her presence.
I had the privilege of seeing Miss James when I lived in London England in the late sixties. It was the most incredible performance I have ever seen. She is long gone but her music lives on in my heart 💗❤️😢
Oh yes Ms Etta James , thank you bro , loving your reactions… Angelina Jordon has covered this song and At Last these legendary Artists are all her mentors since a baby one day you might like to check them out …Outstanding for a child , shows you her respect for them
My all time favorite singer song writer - she is a powerhouse of a voice and spiritual being. she can cover Billie like no other on the planet! This woman has moved my soul since i was in the womb!
This isn't in the studio singing...this is raw, deep in her emotions, and making us feel where she's coming from. I grew up hearing singers like Etta James records playing in my home because that is what my parents and older siblings listened to and even though I couldn't relate because of being a preteen and younger, I enjoyed the music. I just feel blessed to have been around in the 60s and 70s to feel the spirit of those decades.
Imo, the absolute best female singer of all time. She was the epitome of class but wasn't afraid to be herself and just slayed every lyric that left her heart and soul. Peace ✌ all.
Etta had some dangerous wild energy in her voice that I’ve never experienced from a female singer! She was so Gangster and I love her! “At Last” is one of the best songs I’ve EVER HEARD! It transcends all music! She really should have been as big or bigger than Aretha! Bro! I’m so glad you’ve discovered Etta! She truly is a religious experience!❤
