A true legend, a master of music and multiple instruments, one of the only vocalists I think I’ve seen aggressively chew gum throughout an entire concert 😂took over the world with Nirvana RIP Kurt Cobain then took over the world selling out every arena with the Foo Fighters. He’ll play full energy for 4hrs if they don’t cut him off. Also RIP Taylor Hawkins the foo fighters drummer. “Everlong” acoustic was my wife and I’s first dance. Much love.
When I was maybe 14 (im 39 now), I found a book in my attic that references Foo fighters. Probably before I heard the band. I wish I knew the book name now. Never read the whole thing. I love sci-fi
Found this on the internet ‘It's not an uncommon question for those interested in the Dave Grohl-led rock band who may not be familiar with the original inception of the term "foo fighter," which was used by Allied aircraft pilots during World War II to describe the unidentified flying objects they had spotted in the sky.
The “pretender” is the record company represented by the swat team. The only way they would play his music was if they owned it. He didn’t want to become “just another one of your plays”. So he started his own label and licensed his music to record companies, who were not happy about it.
it was also a protest song against the Bush administration. Dave and the Foos have never been very specific with their political songs, but a lot of anti-Bush anger went into this song. A lot of Dave's best songs have multiple meanings like that
Foo Fighters are amazing live. Dave really cares about the audience. Broke his leg and was carried back on stage to finish the concert. Brings people up on stage to play. Stops concerts to stop fights. Their live energy is off the charts. I saw them last year.
Yes…. I had tickets in KC to see them. He broke his leg (at a show) a few weeks before the concert. I was worried it would be canceled BUT they didn’t. Dave performed with a cast on his leg. They are the most interactive with the audience band I have ever seen. It is very common to see them pull an audience member on stage to play with them…. You should check out “Kiss Guy” a guitarist from the audience he pulled on stage. He also got a drum challenge online from this little girl named Nandi Bushell I believe she was 12 years old or something. She blew him away she was so good. They ended up flying her in to perform with them live. That video is fantastic! RIP Taylor Hawkins 💔 Absolutely love this band!!
Drummer died two years ago. Foos did tribute concerts and included all the great drummers and musicians who knew Taylor. The highlight was Taylor’s 16 year old son killing those drums to There Goes My Hero. Not a dry eye in the house.
Foo Fighters "THE BEST OF YOU" (original video). 🔥🔥🔥 The lead singer of the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl, was the very talented drummer for Nirvana before Kurt Cobain died and Nirvana was no longer. Unfortunately, the drummer for the Foo Fighters (with the blonde hair), Taylor Hawkins, died a few years ago. 😔. Taylor was also the drummer for Alannis Morissette when she was HUUUGE, back in the day! 🙌
@@lisamareepritchard6375 I’m happy for you that you got to see them before Taylor passed. Sadly, I missed the boat on that one, and regret to this day. Learned a lot of appreciation for the man and the band, grateful for that. RIP Taylor
Foo Fighters are legendary. Dave Grohl is self taught and a musical genius. He tripped and fell off a stage in Sweden, broke his leg, had them brace it backstage, then went back out on stage on a stretcher and had a MD hold his foot in place while he finished the show. He’s an incredible musician and seemingly top notch human.
Foo Fighters are a MUST dive. Dave Grohl (lead singer) is a legend & has the same reputation as Keanu Reeves as being one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Everyone loves him. After Kurt Cobain passed away he took a short break but came back into the studio and laid down the first FF album playing every instrument BY HIMSELF & turned it in to the record company not as Dave Grohl - but as FF. We all knew him a "the drummer of Nirvana" but would they like him also writing, singing, & playing lead guitar? I think Dave being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame not once but twice answers that 👏 he has lost 2 best friends in his life - Kurt & Taylor. "Everlong" is INCREDIBLE but the video is very distracting - do the lyrics "Learn To Fly" "Best Of You" "My Hero" "Times Like These" "Walk" "Monkey Wrench" ....good starters 😂
So Dave Grohl was the drummer in Nirvana, and after Curt Cobain died he started the Foo Fighters. He is insanely talented. On top of being the in Foo Fighters he also did the drumming on a Killing Joke album which was 🔥 and did the Drumming on the Queens of the Stone age album "Songs for the Deaf" which is another 🔥 album and lastly formed a Super group "Them Crooked Vultures " who consisted of Josh Homme, lead singer and guitar player from Queens of the Stone age and John Paul Jones , base player from Led Zeppelin. I strongly recommend him side projects like QOTSA song "No one knows " . His drumming is awesome in the song and a cool video. From Them Crooked Vultures song "New fang" . People forget how great of a drummer he is because he's the lead singer of the Foo Fighters. Thanks for the content
Look his drum battle with nandi Bushell, a kid from England who challenged him on RU-vid. He eventually brought her to the states to play with them in Los Angeles. He's known as the nicest man in rock, often cooking for people on the streets without publicity.
For me, this song was part of what kept me going (and still keeps everytime i hear it) after battling with addiction. 2 voice`s in my head the one tells me i should go get a drink, then the second voice is the one i refuse to hear is the voice that tells me i shouldnt do it. The addicition voice is the pretender and i will never surrender against it. I AM the face i have to face mirroring my stare, my head is the enemy and i will bring it to its knee`s. The first part to me sounds like the booze kept me in the dark and is the pretend. Send in the skeletons are the pains i had to deal with sobering up. This song makes me want to fight it and stand up against that little devil voice in my head and here i am now, 3,5 years sober and still going strong.
Foo Fighters name taken from Foo fighter, a World War 11 term for unidentified flying objects. They are really popular band in Australia and love touring here.
Dave taught himself drums on pillows! Played in a punk band before being recruited by Nirvana. He was their fifth(?) drummer! RIP Kurt. RIP Taylor. RIP Virginia.
Dave knows how to bring the ENERGY. Their discography is a roller coaster of emotions. I highly recommend watching their live performance of My Hero with Shane Hawkins on the drums. I'd be shocked if you didn't tear up watching it.
You should really check out his live videos where he interacts with the crowd ❤️ he has some LEGENDARY ones! He brings people on stage to sing and play the music with him. The one with "Kiss Guy" is HILARIOUS! His guest appearance on hot wings is also the best episode they've done 😂 would love to see you react to it! Dave is also good friends with Rick Astley, and he frequently pops up on their tours and runs out on stage and Rick Rolls the audience 😂
I saw them at Leeds Festival in 2019 and they were amazing, The Pretender was actually the first song on their set, Taylor Hawkins was awesome and did a big drum solo on an elevating platform. RIP Taylor ❤
You have almost 30 yrs of Foo to catch up on. Last yr marked my 30th Foo concert. Not a single song I’ve ever grown tired of. And an incredible live show. Watch some of their vids from their Wembley performance. Over 80,000 ppl. Some amazing stuff. Others have filled you in about Nirvana and Taylor. Dave’s had a tough ride so far…and it’s only made him better for it.
Acoustic everlong is always on repeat in my play list. My favourite FF song. I see this song as a call for people to stop being sheep. Pretending to be someone they're not just to fit in.
Foo Fighters were my second concert that I ever went to 16 years ago in 2008... and my first mosh pit. That song 'The Pretender' was insane. I was right by the stage and almost got pulled under the crowd. Everyone was jumping, you just had to go with it. It was incredible, they played right into the night. Saw them again in 2019, and was at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert. One of the best live bands in the world. RIP TH 🦅
Love the reaction, I recommend also watching the Foo Fighters live version of My Hero featuring at the time 16 year old Shane Hawkins at the memorial concert for Tyler Hawkins, Foo Fighters drummer (and Shanes dad.)
Seriously they have so many great songs…. 100% worth going through their song library. Learn to Fly - Best of You - Everlong (live version is best I think) - Walk - and of course my favorite song My Hero !!!
Dave Grohl was drummer for Nirvana. After the lead singer/guitarist committed suicide, Dave founded Foo Fighters in mid 90s (a lot more happened, too long to list). The Foo Fighters have remained a close knit family. When the drummer Taylor Hawkins passed from a heart attack at 50 two years ago, the band, especially Dave surrounded Taylor’s wife and children with love and comfort. A video that brings me to absolute tears every time, is watch the tribute to Taylor at Wembley Stadium in London, 9/22/22. Shane, his 16 year old son on the drums, playing the drums with the skill of his late dad, and the angst of broken hearted child mourning his dad. It’s…!
If you are going to react to more Foo Fighters, highly recommend the live version of Everlong and the Taylor Hawkins tribute of My Hero with his son on the drums. Great reaction!
This makes me very happy. In the top 5 live shows I've seen. Dave is as down to earth as they come. You can relate to every one of their songs. RIP Taylor ❤ There's also a "making of" video of this that's fun.
Dave recorded FF debut album completely solo, playing the drums, guitars and vocals bit by bit then putting them together in the studio. Then people wanted FF to tour so he quickly realised he needed other members. He is a very talented artist, underrated outside of the rock genre
After I lost my husband of 34 years, I felt like the howls of grief were trapped in my throat, and my puny vocal cords couldn't let them out. I felt like this song was written and played and sung and screamed and pounded out just for me, and the lyrics were both the event of his death challenging me on my views of life, and my own grief howling back into the void. So I think this song is about grief and profound loss that tears you down to your bones.
The term foo fighters was used by Allied aircraft pilots during World War II to describe various unidentified flying objects or mysterious aerial phenomena seen in the skies over both the European and Pacific theaters of operations.
Oh man, you beat me. I looked like Arnold Horseshack sitting in my chair when he asked what it meant. If you don't know Arnold Horseshack, google Welcome Back Kotter, the old 70's show.
Dave Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana who lost his front man Kurt, and now as a front man lost his drummer Taylor of 25 years. This man is a rock to have over come these loses. I think music has become his therapy. I love all their music, and one of the best concerts.
Lets not forget how epic dave grohl was how he finished a concert with broken leg after falling off stage then did the entire American leg of that tour in a custom rock god throne cause he didn’t want to let down the fans
iv been to dozens and dozens of live shows. i went to a Foo Fighters show once, with no drugs or alcohol, and the energy these guys gave us had me high as fuck. it was crazy. Never experienced anything like it before.
Dave Grohl also played drums for Tenacious D, one album with Queens of the Stoneage, a few tracks off the Nine Inch Nails album “With Teeth”, and he has a handful of other side projects worth checking out. Of his side projects, my favorite is Them Crooked Vultures with Josh Homme (QOTSA) and John Paul Jones, the legendary bass and keyboard player from Led Zeppelin.
Cool shirt... Stay proud. Fun story I saw foo fighters when they first came out for 5 bucks, they played my hero for the first time live at that show. Good times.
Freakin’ love your channel BP! Your love for music is awesome and now you’re on to my favorite band! My Hero at the Taylor Hawkins tribute show (with Taylor’s son on drums) is their best. SO touching and emotional. You can hear the whole freaking arena lift him up.
You really have to do My Hero-Foo Fighters WITH Shane Hawkins. Just months after Taylor Hawkins died, his 16 yr old son Shane stepped in for him on the drums at the tribute concert for him. As a dad, you'll see how powerful it is and this kid, at only 16, is amazing.
Yes, Yes, Yes. Love this song, it's message, Dave Grohl presentation of the message & Taylor Hawkins on drums, is absolutely sick in this video. Rest in Peace Hawk
Dave Grohl said the meaning of the song is meant for the _listeners_ interpretation. Same with all Foo Fighter songs (for the most part.) Those guys were/are poets - letting our own emotions dictate "the meaning." (I am paraphrasing a quote he said about this song and it's meaning.) I've watched tons of reactions to this song - and every one has a different take away. Amazing! "Oh, it's just grunge/anger rock," say those that do not listen or _feel_ what the music is about... to you. _True poets, indeed. RIP TAYLOR! 💔_
You can never miss with Foo! Best live show ever, I've seen them so many times, and everytime is powerful. All my life, Everlong live, Times like these and skin and bones are a few of my favs... You can also see Dave drumming on the awesome Queens of the Stone Age track No One Knows.. (well, and of course in Nirvana)
Dave Grohl is a POWERHOUSE! He is half deaf at this point but stil refuses to wear ear protection on stage because he says he wants to hear the music clearly... He has great moral values and was raised by parents who were also skilled musicians. -I wonder what they were thinking when he was in his teens nd formed Nirvana with Cobain... Yet he went on to he a long and legendary career so far!
Hi there. Just subscribed to your channel because I enjoy what you do so please keep it up because you do it so well. I’ve just watched when you did. Elvis singing (in the ghetto) absolutely fantastic. A little bit of a fun fact (not really fun, but for want of a better word) Elvis was set to do a concert in Las Vegas, but because his backup singers were three black ladies the hotel wouldn’t let them on the stage and Elvis then refused to do the concert without them, so he was told by the casino that they could perform with him, but they would have to come through the kitchen entrance to perform to watch, Elvis refused once again and told them that if his backup singers didn’t arrive with him through the front door he wouldn’t perform. The casino did finally agree to let them come through the front entrance with the rest of the band. Another fact about Elvis is one of his backup singers turned out to become a solo artist herself. I might be wrong, but I think it was Dionne Warwick. Thanks for doing the videos that you do because I think they are fantastic. Please keep it up. Take care and blessings to you from England.
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Haven’t even watched yet but wanted to say THANK YOU for reacting to the Foos! This is my favorite song of theirs, but since they’ve been together since 1994 they have a HUGE catalog…. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼❤️❤️❤️ LFG!
Bro, great reaction, fun hearing / seeing you figure the song out. Foo Fighters are a great band, they actually love their audiance. Another great song from them is: My Hero. (Even if not for a video, check it out for yourself)
Dave Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana, and Kurt Cobain was the front man who sadly committed suicide. Dave then formed Foo Fighters and became the front man for the group. But then the Foo Fighters' drummer, Taylor Hawkins (a guy that Dave Grohl has called his brother) died from a drug overdose a few years ago. I'd recommend a reaction to the Foo Fighters live at Wembley, "Best of You" and you'll a brief moment where you could see their bond.
The original Foo Fighters album was done 100% by Dave Grohl . . drums, bass, guitar and vocals, was supposed to be more of a project to keep his toes in the music scene after Nirvana ( RIP Kurt ). It ended up getting released and went ballistic . . all of a sudden there are calls for a tour and he realised he needed a band with him. RIP Taylor
Dave Grohl was the drummer of Nirvana and when Kurt Cobain died he formed Foo Fighters and became the lead singer. Unfortunately, 2 years ago the drummer of Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins, also passed away.
Hello, greetings from Mexico City, react to The Warning you will be surprised…Three sisters from Monterrey, MX. The band started in 2012. They became The Warning in 2013. Today they are Dany, a 24-year-old guitarist, Pau, a 22-year-old drummer, and Ale, a 19-year-old bassist. In 2022, they performed over 100 concerts across North and South America opening for Foo Fighters, Halestorm, Pretty Reckless, Three Days Grace and Guns 'n Roses. In 2023 they played 75 shows in thirteen countries, opened for Muse nine times, opened for Guns and Roses and played at the MTV VMAs. In 2024 they will play at Shiprock, Tecate P’al Norte Festival in Monterrey, Vive Latino festival in Mexico City, European tour, Mad Cool festival in Madrid and the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany. They are classically trained pianists; Dany and Ale have played sax in the past. All three sing lead and background vocals; Dany is the lead singer. They were inspired by the video game Rock Band and two of their songs are available on Rock Band IV. They were on the Ellen Show in 2015. They are completely bilingual as they attended a bilingual Catholic school in Monterrey, the Liceo de Monterrey. They all subsequently graduated high school through homeschooling. They attended the Berklee College of Music summer program in Boston in 2015. They started out as a cover band; the cover of Enter Sandman launched his career. They now have 49 original songs on an EP, three albums, two singles and two unreleased songs performed. No bad songs. Their most recent single, More, came out on May 12. At their concert in Guadalajara they debuted two new unreleased songs. They have a rich collection of live videos, music videos, and lyric videos on their channel. There are also vlogs and individual performances. His most legendary concerts with professionally filmed video are: - Monterrey High School 2015 - TEDx at the University of Nevada Reno 2017 - Dakota Bar 2018 - Lunario 2018 - Didi Forum 2019 - Whiskey a Go Go 2019 and 2020 - Quarantine Concert 2020 - Teatro Metropolitan CDMX (4K and HD audio) 2022 - Private show in UK (acoustic and electric, now public) 2023 When they are not acting, they are humble and down-to-earth people. Dany is silly and affectionate, Pau speaks with passion like a machine gun and Ale is introverted and a perfectionist. When you fall down the Warning rabbit hole, you can't go back!!
They are amongst my favorites. Growing up as a kid looking up to them and finally I’m going to see them in concert in May. Can’t wait as they have amazing energy.
Dave Grohl 🥰 was the drummer in Nirvana, who lost his lead singer, when Kurt Cobain passed. Now Dave is a lead singer who lost his drummer, blonde one in this video, Taylor Hawkins. He came full circle.
Singer is Dave Grohl, the drummer from Nirvana. “Foo fighter” was a term first coined by the United States Air Force during World War II. It referred to strange phenomena or unidentified flying objects in the sky before it was replaced by the acronym “UFO.”
Foo Fighters have been around since the 90s. As other said, Dave was the drummer for Nirvana but he's also played with Tom Petty and Heartbreakers, Tenacious D, and Queens of the Stone Age among others.
