My brother Corey started this band with Scott when they were 14. Im a hairstylist and used to cut all their hair, even cut off Erics mullet when he first joined the band....Help them get styled up before all their shows, so many great stories. Eric is one of the nicest guys and best drummer. Corey was the best man in Scotts wedding. Scott and I used to talk for hours and he'd ask for advice on life and girls. Scott was a very kind soul. Such an incredible talent. Miss him terribly.

Saw them in the 90s. It truly was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. You couldn’t keep your eyes off of him, he was like Jim Morrison, the ultimate front man. When he came out with the megaphone for dead and bloated with a dress on 🤯👏. RIP SCOTT

STP is my favorite group coming out of the 90's. A group that has such a great sound. Lyrically they write some incredible stuff and the music that surrounds their songs is a vibe. They just know how to create a feeling. RIP Scott Weiland. Song deals with one's internal questions of self and finding one's way with all of the doubt & insecurity that we have and the conflict within ourselves. Self-doubt and apathy about feeling like you don't belong.
@KingLeo-ng5tc
@KingLeo-ng5tc 4 месяца назад
Released: 1992The lyrics of “Creep” by Stone Temple Pilots paint a vivid picture of a person grappling with internal struggles, self-destruction, and a loss of identity. Woven with elements of self-conflict, regret, and resignation, they explore one’s confrontation with their darker side and the journey towards awareness and acceptance of the ‘half-man’ they’ve become due to their actions, vices, or circumstances. The song opens with “Forward yesterday, makes me wanna stay / What they said was real, makes me wanna steal.” This hints at a longing for the past, a desire to evade the present reality, triggered by external influences. When the protagonist states he is “Livin’ under house, guess I’m livin’, I’m a mouse,” it’s a metaphorical way of saying he’s living a small, insignificant existence, much like a mouse hidden away from the larger world. The refrain “Take time with a wounded hand / ‘Cause it likes to heal, I like to steal” is a recurring motif in the song. It’s a symbolic dichotomy reflecting self-destructive behavior; on one side, the song’s protagonist acknowledges healing is a slow process, yet they confess to indulging in damaging behavior (“I like to steal”), almost revelling in it.

I was lucky enough to have seen him live but when he was with Velvet Revolver. I went for Slash but it made me want to check out STP (I heard them in passing of course just didn’t go out of my way to hear them). I remember going to concerts all the time and never worried about the price. Now it’s highway robbery. Back then I saw Shinedown, U2, Kings of Leon, Warped Tour, and a ton more. Wish that it was possible to do that still. Discovering bands from the radio (or now RU-vid) doesn’t have the same “feel”.

I've always seen this as Scott admitting to his flaws and second-guessing his choices. At this time he had a bad addiction that created a lot of stress in his personal life and in the band. He asks to "take time with the wounded hand 'cause it likes to heal", sounds like he's asking Jesus (the wounded hand) for some help. This song always seemed like a cry for help to me and made me a bit sad. Very underrated band. To keep on the Grunge tip, I'd like to suggest "Temple of the Dog", "Say Hello to Heaven". The band is made up of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden members with Chris Cornell on vocals. It was a one-off album in memory of friend, and Mother Love Bone singer Andrew Wood. I'm positive you'd enjoy. Congrats on your daughter. Peace.

Was lucky enough to have seen them live once, back in the 90’s. Killer show. During the support act we saw 2 members of STP standing behind us, watching the support act as well. I told my friend they were there, right behind us. My friend walked up to them and asked if they wanted a beer. They declined after which my friend said, My mum taught me to never say no to free beer! They both laughed and that was it. A short encounter, but I will never forget it.

I never understood that choice. Don't get me wrong, I loved Scott's singing and writing styles, and I loved GnR. But they all left GnR because Axel was getting too chaotic with the drinking and drugs and they couldn't handle it anymore. They told him to shape up or they were done. He didn't, so they left. Only to then pick Scott as their new lead. Not to make light of Scott's struggles, but not the best choice for a lead if your reason for leaving a big band like GnR was mostly related to the drug/alcohol use of your previous lead. Also, never quite got into Velvet Revolver. They didn't change up enough in the new configuration and they sounded like an off amalgamation to me. Same with RATM and Chris Cornell. Soundgarden and RATM were two of my favorite bands at the time, but Audioslave didn't sound like its own band to me. It sounded like Rage Against the Garden, or Sound Against the Machine.

Maybe you're getting "Kurt Cobain vibes" from this Stone Temple Pilots song because of it's dark tone and Scott Weiland's somber vocals, combined with the repetitive singing of the self-deprecating line "I'm half the man I used to be". Note that both Kurt Cobain and Scott Weiland stuggled with substance abuse, and were both diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The major component of bipolar disorder is profound depression, which could explain the dark undertones in many of their songs. Kurt Cobain's lyrics were often very self-deprecating. For example, the somber Nirvana song "All Apologies" contains the following self-deprecating lyric: "I wish I was like you Easily amused Find my nest of salt Everything is my fault" Interestingly, this song ends with the repetition of the following, curious line "All in all is all we are"....

Yea Scott was a heroine addict. There’s always been something special about this song. It’s my favorite by STP and up there with my all times. I used to listen on repeat and my headphones and my favorite was to drive especially at night blasting and singing with them at the top of my lungs. Scott truly had a voice like no other. Built in grit, but many octaves he could reach and sing with such a beautiful emotive sound. As many others, RIP. ❤

I have always looked at this song as portraying the duality of mankind. We all have likable traits but we can also be a creep....just like the same hand can steal or heal depending on you. Its a battle esp when you struggle mentally with relationships and emotions. This is a typical Gen X song The internal struggle with the type of person you want to be while every instinct says "can't show your hand because being venerable doesn't work either"

This came out my Sophomore year in HS. To this day, I have no bloody idea what it's about. Back in the day where grunge was concerned, you were Pearl Jam and Nirvana, or you were STP, Collective Soul, etc. I think bands like STP and Collective Soul had far deeper messages. I was never much of a grunge fan, but I like this song a lot. Not taking anything away from Eddy Veder or Cobain, they were forces in their own right. As far as mistaken lyrics hahahahaha bruh, no one could ever understand any grunge band, we didn't have subtitles in the 90s, good luck understanding Kurt Cobain or Eddy Veder 😂😂😂😂
