Every guy in America had a crush on Linda Ronstadt . Men Women we all loved her and it only grew as she continued her career. She sang everything. A true vocal artist.
Linda's dad was German-Mexican and her mother was German-English. She grew up in Arizona near the Mexican border. Her Mexican Grandfather was a big influence on her and she grew up singing the Mexican songs he taught her. Her whole family was into music and her dad was actually a big band (swing) leader at one time. Linda is an amazing talent and a master of many musical styles including Rock, Country, Broadway and show tunes, Mexican Folk, Big Band, as well as soft easy listening torch songs. You should check out the albums she did with the Newson Riddle Orchestra. She was the highest paid woman in music at one time and was the most successful Female artist in the 1970's.
She has three Latin albums, two rancheros and one Latin salsa the name of the salsa album is Frenesí. Which is on RU-vid live version on the Jay Leno show.
Linda Rondstat one of the best voices of ALL TIME!! Check out Linda and Aaron Neville duet...I Don't Know Much!! Watch the video from the CMA awards years ago!!! OUTSTANDING ❤🎉
@@mariebishop7357 did you know that she & Aaron were an "item'' at the time??? That explains why it is so good - they really did love each other at that time!!!
The birth of the Eagles came from playing back-up for Linda Ronstadt in 1971 before both acts became hit machines with platinum records and sold-out concerts.
If you loved this one, you absolutely have to react to her rendition of "Desperado". The Eagles wrote and released it, but (as the story goes) after Glenn Frey heard her do the song he allegedly told her the song was hers from then on. Not sure if that's true, but once you hear her version of it you have to believe there could be some truth in it! Go immediately to "Desperado"!
@ConspiracySmurf They have been doing it since they were 14, about 12 yrs ago Several Ronstadt tracks. They must have about 150 covers. The dudes can flat out play and sing, too. Another.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P-EpGKXmoe4.htmlsi=g2DiCHVTLTtctE9b
@ConspiracySmurf I've got another rabbit hole for u to go down. Elia Wood. (may need to add drummer to miss the actor) Was Twain's drummer 2015-2022. Has about 20 drum cam videos that are linked to the live 21-22 LV residency shows. One of the GOAT power pocket drummers to sit behind a kit. From a music family and the playing arrangements show. All 4/4 Mutt Lange stuff, but the fills are crazy. The cymbals, the drumming patterns. It's mind boggling. Enjoy. Here is one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IBsoJqN90p8.htmlsi=yVXvNWbJctK1IIZj
Linda was not inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until after she could no longer perform due to her medical condition preventing her from controlling her vocals well. Asked what took them so long to induct her, comments were made that she sang in so many different genres that it was difficult to classify her into the rock genre. Glenn Frey of the Eagles was the person introducing her to the ceremonial audience and was asked for which genre should Linda receive the HOF award. His reply was: "ALL OF THEM"!
Linda sang everything under the sun. She rocked out(Tumbling Dice), Mexican ballads and Mariachi (Lo Siento Mi Vida, L Charreda), old school country (The Sweetest Gift with Dolly and Emmylou), American Standards (What's New with Nelson Riddle), Light Opera (Pirates of Penzance on Broadway), Motown, lots of Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison, and even Gospel (Mighty Rivers of Babylon). She was the best selling female artist of the 70s, which was something ehen you consider all the women of the era.
She was always one of the best at starting soft, growing into a full belt, and then dialing it back again seamlessly. She was also the best at conveying emotion; making you feel the song.
Willie Nelson said of her ~~ ""There are 2 types of people in this world ~ Those that Love Linda Ronstadt & those thathave never heard of her"" Very high praise indeed!!! Loved her since day 1!!
One in a million voice. I grew up with her In the 70s. Remember the eagles were her back up band before they went out on their own and formed the eagles. She supported them leaving her. Actually encouraged them. And we know tbe rest of that story. Sad that Linda had to retire years ago when she developed Parkinsons Disease . Yes, her father was Mexican heritage. That album is so good. I have no clue on what's she's singing though. She list has a big band album of songs by Anderson Riddle.
Never met anybody who didn't love Linda Ronstadt. Don't think I want to. Listening to her introduced me to Emmylou Harris so there's that too. Flowers to Smokey. He's one of the best singer songwriters ever.
In the 70's we had Linda Ronstadt and Olivia Newton John. Great voices and easy on the eyes. Today's ears call this country, but we called it soft rock and was considered part of Rock. These type of songs were common and just pure talent. Great Reaction.
Linda Ronstadt joined with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris for an album, maybe more. You won’t regret listening to them. The Sweetest Gift Those Memories Telling Me Lies To Know Him Is to Love Him
Everything she sings is silk. Her version of the Stones Tumbling Dice is really good. You should check out her first hit with The Stone Poneys, Beat of a Different Drum
You'll never know how many guys in the '70s had that "conversation" with Linda. Of course, she sang "Long Long Time" and "Love Has No Pride" just for me.
Her Spanish songs are AWESOME - Her "La Charreada" or ""La Cigarra" will blow you away!!! She is of German/Mexican descent from Tuscon Arizona!! She sings in so many different genres it is hard to place her except to say there is a reason the simply call her ""The Voice"" - every female singer wanted to be her & every guy & some gals had a crush on her!!! She also released an "easy listening" album with famed band leader Nelson Riddle who worked with Sinatra, Martin, Darin & most other crooners of the 50-60-70's This is "Great American Songbook" music!! She also did Broadway & Light Opera!!!! She is "The Voice" can't do better than her!!!
Her father was Mexican and she grew up in Arizona near the border. She has a lot of family in Mexico. 70 years ago (before Republicans started using immigration for political purposes) the border was a much friendlier place and her parents and siblings traveled back and forth frequently. Her Mariachi music is amazing and well worth a listen. Great reaction. Love your channel 🌺✌️ That guy with the reddish hair and beard singing backup is Andrew Gold. He’s a talented musician and songwriter. One of the songs he wrote is “Thank You For Being a Friend”. I notice you use a version of it on your channel and, of course, it was the theme song for the sitcom “Golden Girls”. 🌸
Linda's voice was extraordinary. The power, octave range, accuracy, clarity and pitch were all world class. Among the best ever. What sets Linda apart from any other female voice I have heard is the exquisite feminine sensitivity and emotional expression she conveys in her songs. Her voice is able to reach into your soul and transport it like few others.
This song is originally recorded by” smokey Robinson and the miracles” but of course Linda!!! could sing any style so that’s what makes her great❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍
Emmylou Harris had a big influence on Linda so that folk music flavor is what you are hearing! Her voice is so smooth and velvety but clear as a bell at the same time. You need to check out her duet with Aaron Neville called “Don’t Know Much” I think you will love it! Really enjoyed this one! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
Linda rules and we love her. Yes, she has the Latino Lifetime Achievement Award, and sings like a bird! Never a bad tune and she brought you the Eagles after a fashion. You need to play this song below, it's a good one Pegasus but not very long! Kid Rock and Hank Williams - F word
You have to listen to her live version of Desperado and Down So Low it will blow you away. So many to name dig deeper into catalog. Her father was Mexican.
I've been a fan of Linda's from her first album, 1960's when she was in the group The Stone Ponys. I was a teen, I'm 68 today. I'm a Southern California native and was able to see Linda MANY times in concerts over the years. Linda, always perfect, always GORGEOUS, her voice NEVER failed her, no matter what genre she sang!!! My ONLY regret was not attending her very first Spanish concert tour!!! I have seen it on RU-vid all these years later, impeccable!!! I am and always will be her FANGIRL for life!!! ✨💖✨ 🇺🇸
Those 2 guys singing with her one is Don Henley and the other is Glen Frye from the Eagles they started as her back up band then with her blessing they went out and for 10 years straight produced hit after hit theres another song by Linda called Mad love I used to listen to when I was young its awesome as well😍🤙
It's hard to explain how popular Linda was & still is. It didn't matter what genre of music you listened to, Linda was included in you're music(just like Karen Carpenter). I loved my Country Music(not the stuff they call country today) & Linda, l considered country. Everyone claims her! That's what happens when you have an outstanding voice. YOU MUST LISTEN TO Linda, Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris sing together. They are angels with amazing harmonies. They did 2 albums, Trio 1 & Trio 2. Not one song on these albums is close to being bad or just a song to fill the album. So it doesn't really matter what you pick, they're all that good. Even if you don't want to do a reaction, do yourself a favor. Listen to every song on both albums! You will think you died & went to Heaven. There's a funny story. Linda was going to sing with Johnny Cash on his show. They said Linda doesn't like to wear underpants. Well, June Carter Cash, Johnnys wife made someone go out & buy her a pair of underwear. June said "if you're gonna sing with Johnny, you're gonna wear underpants!" 😂 l can just see June saying this!
YES ITS DOPE !!!! "Canciones de Mi Padre" Album by Linda Ronstadt ...Canciones de mi padre is American singer Linda Ronstadt's first album of Mexican traditional Mariachi music.
Saw Linda Ronstadt in NYC at a concert done entirely in Spanish !!! It was promoting her album "Canciones De Me Padre" Songs Of My Father. She does NOT speak Spanish but learned verbatim the pauses, the inflections, the forcefulness, the softness in all the proper places ...my sister in law from Mexico wanted the "casette' at the time for her Mexican Mother ,thats how good it was. I didnt understand the lyrics to the songs obviously ,i dont speak Spanish. But it was so beautiful and sung with such passion i was teary throughout most of the concert! She was girlfriend to Gov of Ca back when...Jerry Brown!
Glorious important pure pipes. In person she was transformational for tough guys. No one came close vocally, surrounded by devoted players, she had a way with our hearts.
I was SO jealous of Linda when I was in my teens and twenties. She seemed to have it all. Gorgeous face, good physique, unlimited voice, and she looked beautiful when she was singing (some people do not look attractive while singing!). I do not think I have ever seen you be so mesmerized by a woman before. She had all of America mesmerized too so you are in good company. Great reaction. 😍
Linda may know Spanish. I remember someone close to her entourage saying her pronunciation and inunciation was exactly on the money! But notice too her amazing breath control! She was a master vocalist that knows no heir!
Such a beautiful woman, voice, and song. She kills it. My favorite song of hers is a live version of "Long, Long Time." The expression on her face as she sings it will melt your heart.
This woman has always been one of my top five idols I’m so thrilled that you have discovered her voice. I grew up with her from the 60s. The saddest thing is that she now has Parkinson’s disease and cannot sing anymore. Probably one of the worst things that could happen to someone that has had such an amazing voice and impact on Music over the years and now that is taken from her that’s really sad. But she has left behind some amazing music and being an old white woman that Grew up with this type of music I am just so happy that y’all have discovered it may God bless you all
Linda Ronstadt's cover & John Rivers' 1967 original are both terrific! I've always loved her voice and was saddened to learn that she's having to give up singing for medical reasons. Thanks for playing this & your comments.
That be so, but for the record - “The Tracks of My Tears” was written in 1965 by William “Smokey” Robinson, Jr., Warren Moore and Marv Tarplin, three members of the Miracles. The group recorded it in Studio A of Motown's Hitsville USA facility, with the Miracles' lead singer, Smokey Robinson, as producer.
By mid-1971, Randy Meisner was recruited by John Boylan to become active in Linda Ronstadt's roster of backing musicians, which included Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Bernie Leadon. Thats how the group Eagles was formed.
YES, you need to react to; I believe it's called La Charrada. If you thought Linda was bringing it in the two you've watched, that one will totally blow you away. It's in Spanish so I don't understand a single word, but her performance just puts it WAY over the top.
An absolute International Treasure. Thanks for reacting to this BP. Her grandfather Frederico Ronstadt was Mexican and a huge community leader in Tucson.😊
Linda Ronstadt , as a young gearl, she was one of the furst women we heard on the radio, Karen Carpenter, Stevie Nick's... she was big.. We thought WoW women can be as good, cool and groovy as the dudes of rock ... They, she, opened the doors for every little gearl jamming to her songs on the radio !!! Childhood memories
Lordy, Black P, you are really branching out into some SUPER MUSIC lately. Us Baby Boomers are gonna blow up your comments.....we love the Carpenters and Linda Ronstadt is a staple in our life....her duet of "Somewhere Out There" is a classic and so lovely.
So many of Linda's hits of the seventies were of the country-rock genre, rock songs played with country instruments. Which by the way made her the most successful female artist of the decade. If there had been a group photo of the musicians that developed the genre Linda would have been front center. Linda just applied her winning formula to some MoTown and achieved a fantastic result.
I was listening to her Mexican music a couple of nights ago but what surprised me was in the morning "Tracks of My Tears" ran through my mind although I haven't heard it in years! Smokey did a great job and I grew up listening to that one and his other hits. For Linda to have the guts to cover it and do such a great job blows me away. I wonder what Smokey thought of her version. I think she did him justice. Too bad they never did a duet, because breaking up, like falling in love is a two way street. Some show it, others don't.
Ronstadt family history Ronstadt's father came from a pioneering Arizona ranching family and was of Mexican descent with a German male ancestor. The family's influence on and contributions to Arizona's history, including wagon making, commerce, pharmacies, and music, are documented in the library of the University of Arizona. Her great-grandfather, the engineer Friedrich August Ronstadt (who went by Federico Augusto Ronstadt), immigrated first to Sonora, Mexico, and later to the Southwest (then a part of Mexico) in the 1840s from Hanover, Germany. He married a Mexican citizen and eventually settled in Tucson. In 1991, the City of Tucson opened its central transit terminal on March 16 and dedicated it to Linda's grandfather, Federico José María Ronstadt, a local pioneer businessman; he was a wagon maker whose early contribution to the city's mobility included six mule-drawn streetcars, delivered in 1903-04. Ronstadt's mother Ruth Mary, of German, English, and Dutch ancestry, was raised in Flint, Michigan. Ruth Mary's father, Lloyd Groff Copeman, a prolific inventor and holder of nearly 700 patents, invented an early form of the electric toaster, many refrigerator devices, the grease gun, the first electric stove, and an early form of the microwave oven. His flexible rubber ice cube tray earned him millions of dollars in royalties. Peace out.
That was a great history and thank you! I remember hearing that she first sang with either her uncle and dad or brother playing guitar and piano/keyboard. Was hoping someone would elaborate on some history. Sure appreciate hearing this. 👍
