I don't think this song was suggested because it's a good example of what Patton can do in one song, but because he's doing something completely different from the other FNM songs you've reacted to so far. The best way to see what Patton can do is have the Trash Talkers make you a 5 - 10 song playlist from all of his various projects and go through them one after the other (and release the videos whenever, the important part is hearing him do different stuff). Alternatively, there are compilations of all the different stuff Patton's done that you could react to. Not so much a single song, so it breaks with your usual format somewhat, but it'll definitely give you an idea of what we're talking about.

Agreed, you'll see what we're talking about after hearing these. He's not a frontman who sits there and is like "hey listen to all these things I can do with my voice!" in every song. He adds what's needed to each song to make it brilliant. RV isn't a song that needed a break for some operatic vocals or whistle-tone screams 😂

There are so many other songs that would better display his abilities. I've always felt "Last cup of sorrow" to be a kinda meh FNM song. Even from that album, I'd say "Stripsearch", " Ashes to ashes", or maybe "Collision" would be better. Saying that, I think it'd be difficult to get a grasp on Mike Patton's talent just from a few songs. His work spans 5 decades now, and his influence/range is unbelievable to say the least.

I think what makes him (to me and many others) the best rock vocalist is his versatility. He can be gritty, clean, smooth, and he can belt. He can do absurdly high-pitched screaming, and death metal growls. There’s no single song that encapsulates his range. I’d recommend the live version of “Flashback” by Tomahawk - he’s the lead singer.

Mike Patton hands down better than Serj. Also you need to listen to the Real Thing to get a good sense of his vocal abilities. He is so much more than clean vocals.

Yeah, totally. Mike has a seemingly infinite range, he can go from opera to jazz to insane punk and rock then back again if he so chooses. Serj is a great vocalist and front man, but he has a set range and style, Mike on the other hand does WTF he wants and does it well.

He belts in Faith No More’s cover of The Bee Gees song I started A Joke. He also shows his range in Faith No More’s cover of The Commodores song Easy(Like Sunday Morning). Then there is the Faith No More song The Real Thing, Paths of Glory. You also need to dig into his other bands. He does an album with The Dillinger Escape Plan... Try the song When Good Dogs Do Bad Things. He hits some high pitches in that one while also going Low. Bird’s Eye with Mike Patton and Serj is a must, though.

It's hard to have 1 song to show the range. Always wanted a reaction channel to actually have a week of Patton projects to show the range Faith no more Tomahawk Mondo cane Peeping tom Fantomas Mr bungle Dead cross Them across 7 days I think would be brilliant or even a longer video where you watch a concert. The faith no more download festival 2009 set is on RU-vid in high quality (plus I am a bit biased as I was at that show) Could also do one of those Patton vocal range videos that others have reacted to, personally Im a bit bored of those videos but at least it would show you the range

I've been binge watching y'all since I found your first Tool video, and it's so awesome to see you discovering so much music that I love, and in turn falling in love with it as well. Not just Tool but it seems like every song you guys end up loving is one of my favorites. Saying that I think there's two songs above all others (outside of your continuing Tool exploration) that should be listened to next. #1 Puscifer - Green Valley. It is the most spiritual and deep Puscifer song, and a great show of Maynards abilities. #2 Deftones ft. Maynard - Passenger. Just another opportunity to hear Maynard do his thing outside of his regular work, probably the best song by Deftones too imo. Awesome late night driving song

Although definitely not one of the songs that shows off his vocal talents :) (try searching Mike Patton vocal performance) And while he actually DOES have the largest vocal range of any man ever recorded, his true talent lies more with his ability to morph his style to literally any musical style (he has an album of friggin Italian opera, for God's sake lol). He also has one of the most versatile voices, ever. The amount and variety of noises he can make with his mouth, is 2nd to none

The breath of Mike's work is so wide that it takes years to go through it all. He has a contribution as a vocalist in every genre of music and he makes music and sound effects for films too. Check out Mike Pattons band Fantomas where he is the band leader, so to speak. Fantomas - Omen, maybe?

Its hard to put one song by patton because he do so many different thiongs and projects, but there is couple good "mike patton vocal compilation" videos on youtube where is little snippets of all his projects (fantomas, peeping tom, live shows, mondo cane etc)

He does literally more than 100s of musical projects, both as lead and backup,... plus being the instruments and sound effects on various ones, doing voice acting, etc. For more traditional singing by him with FNM I’d suggest the covers of Easy or I Started a Joke BUT I’d suggest moving into some different areas some more: Oh his personal project Mondo Cane the songs Ore d'amore or Che Notte (Best is officially recorded live video performance in Chile 2011) or also Singer for Eyvind Kang on the songs Lamentio or Aquilas (this song's singing doesn’t show his huge octave range but another technique he’s good at and at very end does show off vocal work that shows more techniques and his upper range a lot for a couple minutes) As others have said, you won’t get a song that really shows off his vocal ability in itself because the very reason he’s considered the best is how large his range is and massive versatility... he does many different things in many different songs and projects/bands, so his singing is very tailored to what is wanted/needed on any particular one. For an example, he does a lot of interesting traditional and non-traditional vocal work on Björk's Medulla album... but while some is background vocals he largely used to sound like instruments or electronic effects). Gotta do a smattering across a wide spread of projects/bands to hear why he gets the listener and professional acclaim he does. Editing to add: If you'd want to hear a small collection of some of his vocal ability examples, I suggest the video Man of 1000 Voices Live and for hearing a good amount of his range is a collection named Mike Patton's Vocal Range (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantômas) .

All right guys here’s the deal - listen to “falling to pieces” next And then the next one would be “be aggressive” and/or “caffeine”. And if you really want to hear his vocal talent listen to his cover of Lionel Richie’s “easy like Sunday morning”. It’s straight fire! Vocally impressive. All these songs are extremely pleasing to the ear. Not overly shocking just good displays of Mike’s impressive vocal talent and range. These are the songs you’re looking for Trust me -David-

Skip over the Mr. bungle stuff for now go back to it later. These songs are the ones you need. Listening to Mr. Bungle stuff first is just too weird. Mr. bungle is intentionally obnoxious. And in some cases intentionally bad but in a good way. It’s musical irony which at first glance and listen is very difficult to objectively absorb. The songs I listed are gold

The truth is that there is no particular song that shows his whole vocal range and capabilities. And when you think about it, you've only heard 3 songs from him and every song has been different musically and vocally. You have to listen to a lot of his songs, from his numerous bands that he has, to really see his capabilities.

This isn't a cover, but FNM has done some sweet covers. You gotta hear their cover of "Easy," which sounds more like the original than the original does. Also, the BBC Sessions that they did in 2015--they do a Burt Bacharach song, "This Guy's in Love With You." Amazing singing on that one. I think "Capt Midnight" by Tomahawk (another one of Mike Patton's many bands) might be the best example of his range, though. I'd say that Mike Patton is way better than Serj Tankian. You can't always tell how hard what he's singing is, but try singing it yourself, and you'll see. While he does sing technically difficult stuff, a lot of his reputation comes from how he can sound like several different people in the space of a single song. He did vocal stuff for the weird album Bjork did, maybe 15 years back, where all the sounds on the record are made by human voices. He's done bizarre experimental work with the composer, John Zorn.

FNM is one of those cornerstone bands for me. Without them, I never discover Mr. Bungle. Without Bungle I never discover John Zorn, Without Zorn, no Bill Laswell. No Laswell, well then no Buckethead, and that would just be fucking tragic. Many others too numerous to mention. All the music that path led down to is astounding.

Yet another great reaction. And Speaking of Living to die. Metallica's "To live is to die" comes to mind. Epic song as well as Fade to Black. My all time fav tracks by Metallica. I was 12 yrs old and when the album dropped I played the whole album on repeat for hours.

You're not gonna find one song that shows off his vocal ability. There is a compilation video out there showing all kinds of clips from various performances and that will probably blow your mind from an artistic and vocal perspective. Mike Patton is probably as close as we have to a musical genius verging on insanity, but it's that line he walks between sane and insane that makes some of the best art, in my opinion.

Patton sings for a band called Tomahawk that sits sonically between FNM and MB; interesting, but Patton is an auteur so there is some sameness (see also, Fantomas (Melvins connection(see also, Melvins))). He contributes to a Bjork album called Medulla, which is a trip and a half. I believe FNM's "Album of the Year" has good examples of Patton's singing, as opposed to his dissonant noise capabilities. His version of "Come to Daddy" on The Dillinger Escape Plan's "Irony is a Dead Scene" is powerful. The guy is prolific and has a memorable presence.

If youre looking for Pattons vocal range in one song, try "She Loves Me Not." Otherwise, covers like Easy, or I Started a Joke for pure singing ability.

Guys you gotta react to Faith No More - “Just a Man”. That’s a song where he use his vocals pretty good. But to really know his different range you just need to keep listening different songs, cause he change so much from one song to another. Peace ✌️
