Rare ‘69 Dodge Charger Daytona Brought Back To Life

A RARE classic car was found in a barn after its owner bought it before the Vietnam War - then mothballed it for more than two decades. Ron Smith, 71 decided he wanted to have some fun before being deployed to Vietnam in 1969 so bought one of only 503 Dodge Charger Daytonas. He spent $4776.46 on the car - $30,000 in today’s money - and began touring America before heading off to South East Asia. When he returned from the war he drove the classic car for a number of years before he finally gave up on it in 1980. The car was beginning to fail regularly and was old by the standards of the day so Ron parked it in his father’s lock up where it remained for more than two decades. After being recommended a trusted restorer Ron contacted Marshall Woolery who did not believe a Dodge Charger Daytona could be locked away in someone’s barn.

Powered by a 2.7 L V8.... It's powered by a sebring motor!? The sixties were a crazy time! (Yes, I know it's a 7.2 and yes I know that the Sebring is a hunk o' junk V6.)

2.7 V8....... Man, those tea drinkin' English people sure have a sense of humour. They even spell "humor" wrong. And, props to the guy for doing the right thing, and turning down all that potential profit, if he would've restored that car. He did the right thing, for damn sure.

$30000 for a car that can go 200mph in 1969!!!!!! What value for money!!! What is the cheapest car you can but today that can do 200mph?
@davidthayer6969
@davidthayer6969 7 лет назад
the street versions of those cars would not run anything close to 200mph....probably 140-150 at best.

Man, look at all those vintage decals. This guy is the original Joe Dirt. The impostor Joe Dirt, aka, actor David Spade, bought the $900,000 Daytona which was a genuine Hemi and made even rarer with a 4-speed. Also, it had been a show car with photo documentation of a wild paint job and hood scoop. And, it had a chain of celebrity owners of which Spade now tops the list. Oh, and it only had 6,000 and change miles on it.

The voice over guy must not know much about cars, this is the second video from this channel I've watched with a very obvious and embarrassing mistake in it. Overall the video presentation is good and fun to watch but when you hear a mistake like "2.7 liter V8" slip through to the final cut it just makes the whole package look sloppy. I just find it hard to believe that mistake as well as"naturally aspirated twin turbo" from another video gets past every person involved in making these videos. At least patch the audio, even a bad patch would be better than hearing those kind of errors. There had to be at least one person on the team that watched this before uploading it to the public.

+guyver33 Thank you for noticing as well , people who make this type of crap should be slapped. Some idiot who can't read a script , a final cut editor and a proff and they all know shit about the cars they are commenting on. I like seeing rare cars but this is just stupid and the makes the people making these videos look even worse,or should I say stupiddderrr, lol
