Go behind the scenes of Oscar Night 1976 and watch nominees Lily Tomlin, Lee Grant and Ronee Blakley get ready. Join us for fun daily polls and weekly Oscar videos: ru-vid.com?sub_co... @oscarman42
Thank you! We get different kinds of 'behind the scenes' coverage by major news outlets (ET, Access Hollywood). But this 'unfiltered' type is much more fun!
Lily Tomlin 💯% but Ronnee Blakey was a very close second. I love Lee Grant but just thought Lily and Ronnee were better. Thanks so much for posting this ❤
Squeezing hugs for this gem 😍 What a queens, legends! Fabulosity 💅🏼 I adooore Lee’s win, might be my favorite of all time. Wish there was a room for more Nashville girls for a nomination (Harris, Chaplin, Welles)
Squeezing hugs back! Glad you enjoyed it. Harris and Chaplin did receive Golden Globe nominations. And I did a video recently that included Welles' excellent performance!
@@oscarman42💕💕💕 Globes made that right, just not with pathwaying Vaccaro her presumed Oscar win on the night (and their personal!); sure, as fun and trashy their noms with Miles are, it would’ve been bolder and much reasonable to give more love to the Nashville gals. the voice and images of Harris in the film is basically the first thing I associated with Nashville, she’s the crying heart of the collided picturesque.
Omg. It's like this took place in another dimension. Looking through what you already had in your closet to find something to wear to the Oscars. It's like this took place on a different planet. Although, it would have been hilarious if Lily Tomlin had actually won, and worn clown makeup and clown wig, and then given a speech about how she's happy to finally be taken seriously as an actress.
@@oscarman42 i love her so much, i only discover her recently, here in Italy very few people know her, but thanks to Grace and Frankie, now we know how much talent she has. Thank you
This doc has a raw look not just because of the type of video at the time but it has a bland, and ordinary feel. Its lived in . This is as far from the manfuctured glamour of Hollywood as anything ive seen. Sadly you will never see. Anything this even on PBS let alone on cable tv Everything is commercialized heavy on the glitz , extra serving on the glamour . Youll never see an ordinary look at oscar candidates again.
I completely agree! This is definitely a symbol of the past and not something we would see on ET or Access Hollywood (btw, this documentary originally aired on PBS).
She was the favorite going into the ceremony (and the applause from the audience when her name was read seemed to signal her win, which of course didn't happen).
I ❤️ Grant but Lily Tomlin shld've won this. The Nashville ladies probably split the votes n Grant slips in. Grant wld've been a better winner the following yr for Voyage of the Damned
Good afternoon, so sorry I am late Dis n dat I suspect Lee Grant's win (or at least the deciding factor) was the fact that she was blacklisted for many years. I would have voted for her for the Best Supporting Actress award for 1951. She was memorable for role of the shoplifter in DETECTIVE STORY. I will admit that I remember her performance in DETECTIVE STORY better than the winning performance of Kim Hunter for A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE; I thought Hunter's performing was underwhelming compared with her co-stars in STREETCAR. One has to wonder what Grant's career might have looked like had she not been blacklisted. WHET Ronee Blakely? I, among the others, thought she was going to have a major career. I will admit that I was bored watching SHAMPOO and NASHVILLE; Brenda Vaccaro's performance in ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH is pure camp (as is the entire movie); and I never saw FAREWELL, MY LOVELY with the fifth nominee Sylvia Miles. Had I been a member of the Academy (HA!), I would have voted for Vaccaro with whom I had a schoolboy crush.
Completely agree about Grant. It was an "apology." Unfortunately, she won for the wrong film - there was nothing in Shampoo that was Oscar-worthy. Blakley was a singer/songwriter, not really an actress, so I don't think she actively pursued a film career (I would have voted for her). Vaccaro was hilarious in a hilariously bad movie.
Between all the fur and the Hudson Brothers, it's so dated! LOL...But really, all these women are still with us, someone should do a doc and interview them now...Poor Sarandon as Ronnie Blakely...reminds me of when that turd Robert Duvall insulted Shelley Winters when she was up for the P. Adventure. Drama!
@@oscarman42 I'd love it if the Oscars brought back BSA losers as presenters!...Imagine Katherine Ross, Mariel Hemingway, Diane Ladd, Tuesday Weld, Dyan Cannon, Brenda Vacarro, Ann Margret, Lynda Blair, Candy Clark, Talia Shire, Jane Alexander, Candice Bergen, Cathy Moriarty...I think they're mostly alive..lol...I'd go see this movie, if some genius would cast them.
@@losfeliz3485OMG YAS 👏🏻 please how their long forgotten nominations doesn’t seem such badly done is also a testament to the time and perspective. I lol’d at Cannon’s briefly cut performance in HCW and she’s a driving force in B&C&T&A breaking the ground 💅🏼 Tuesday Weld, Penelope Milton are amongst those who’s been rarely discussed nowadays, shamelessly. Jane Alexander’s mystical turn in AATPM follows the same step, what a treasure to reminisce on once again 💎
