Just wanted to make a short little update for you guys, this week i'll be working on most of the weapons. Fr this time... Part one was very scuffed, it was pretty much unfinished. It was barely functional.
So what’s the end goal for this project, are you remaking one of the games or is this like the sonic dash engine where you’re providing a framework for other developers to make Ratchet and Clank Fan Games?
@@vlc-cosplayer same thing was done with Jak & Daxter called OpenGOAL, no one was striked, there's alot of projects where classic PS2 games are ported over to a seperate engine, usually if it's a classic sony won't intervene in any way "💀💀"
@@vlc-cosplayer well if it just so happened that his work gets leaked by somebody else, that wouldn't technically be his fault, and he wouldn't be legally viable, correct? Let's just hope nobody leaks his work online fore everybody to use.
I will say you have done a amazing job recreating the game and physics. If only insomniac wanted to do the same. Also those clouds in the background are amazing.
I hope one day all this progress will allow us to create our own R&C Fan Game also we need more Old school R&C soundtrack, the once in the new games are shit
If beta tester or anyone other developer ever decides too make a fully dedicated ps2 style fan game I would 100% put my name forward too compose original music in the style of the ps2 games because the music in the original 4 games is some of the best OST I’ve ever heard
I'm so glad that there are people that care so much about ratchet and clank. This is genuinely filling me with so much hope that the ratchet and clank I remember may flourish again
This is absolutely amazing! Even when things go wonky, they go wonky in the exact way they would in R&C! Aside from maybe the gravity bomb physics but tbh I kinda like how it’s affected by gravity like that
Aww, shit. I knew you had made some progress, but implementing the dynamic gravity of the Gravity Boots is impressive progress to be sure. I can't wait to see how further this progresses, because you're doing a phenomenal job!
I just searched up Ratchet & Clank fangame and one of your older videos was the first result, this is absolutely phenomenal! I love the quality of the animations and such being implemented. Have you done anything with this framework recently? Do you plan on moving it to UE5?
Hey ! Love your work, im in GameDesign school and I have a Game group projet about a little robot who can grip and walk to surface. A mecanic really similar to yours. Any chance to have a break down or the projet file of this test level ? Keep the great work :D
How can we join the project? I'm a solo game dev, and I set out to remake the old 2002 RaC game because I've been drinking nostalgia like it's apple juice. Is there a way that I could help you with the recreation, or if I could get access to the UE project and build upon it. It saves me time rebuilding everything. And I could jump into the level creations. I know this post is old, but im hopeful
Wait this ain't the PS2 game? I thought it was at first. Clank's head rotation needs an improvement. The way he's looking left and right has some frame issues.
What's the name of the music? Is it from RnC2's soundtrack? Nice project btw, RnC was my childhood franchise, I'd love to see more ppl trying their hands on a fangame.
Not sure if we're ever gonna get a full level that contains various collectibles, enemies, and puzzles. Ratchet's controls here were programmed so smoothly that they can't be put to waste like that 😔
Awesome! How was this achieved? Are you using your own movement system? A few years ago I did this with the character movement component and it was not fun scouring for every little function and edge case that took character orientation and gravity into account. Coincidentally my little project was inspired by Ratchet and Clank as well.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--Vrvxfjbq-8.html Very early version of my scrapped project that has the magneboot function. I can post the source if you want to steal some ideas, the latest version before I stopped had the magneboots refined unlike my video.
I used a plugin to get a new character movement component that supports directional gravity. I had to change everything that had to do with like directions and orientation… that was pain
@@BetaTester Yea it's kind of a pain in the ass, especially if you decide to have ai that want to pathfind on walls as well. If I ever get my old pc here I can post some source you're free to steal from.
@@BetaTester Are you porting some things over from the ps2 games like models, animations, and maps, or did you recreate everything from the ground up? It looks freakin amazing btw!!! What Impresses me the most is how you captured the gameplay feel, like the movement and timing of all the animations is so tight like the originals and it looks like you really pay attention to the small details. Not even the ps3 games gave me that same tight movement feeling like you have here! I just stumbled on this today and now I'm super excited to see what's in store for the future of this project, really great work!
