NJPW is definitely making a push to be a top promotion again. WrestleKingdom 18 was great, and even New Year Dash ended up feeling must-see for the roadmap it drew for the upcoming shows.

I usually clown on Meltzer, but these star ratings were fairly similar to my opinion

Honestly, I think Noah’s New Years Show was a lot better than Wrestle Kingdom, especially Kenoh vs Manabu Soya title match. Too bad that Ibushi match was the main event, didn’t seem like Jake Lee, and Kaito were happy with it

I just cant watch tanahashi anymore. Not only does he go in ultra slow mo, hes gut a little gut in him and his tigh pants falling down...he was amazing, just time to call it quits.

I don't understand why a match has to have more time to be good. It's like people are rating based on their idea of what a good match "should" be. Rather than by how good it actually was.

Will we get star ratings for TNA and New Japan as well as The Fed and AEDubya? Just gonna be a lot of pro wrestling drama this year, feels like 2015 picked back up again all the sudden eh friendo

I realize Davey M and wee bryan LOVE ANY wrestling in Japan… But can you guys predict their salary by AEW and tiny cuckhan to give the ratings he does??? And how he skews EVERYTHING in their favour??? My guess is $3M per year… What do you guys think??? $3.25M??? 3.5M??? 5M???

I got 4 out of 11 and I am ashamed.

Length of match and star rating is one place where I've always differed from online content creators (not just Dave). I see no compelling reason why a squash match can't be 5*'s or your typical 5-8 minute tv match if its good enough. I get that you can tell a more complex story and insert more emotion in a longer match so obviously something that's 20+ minutes is more likely to score better...but it shouldn't exclusively score better. Then again I often find longer matches either exhausting to watch or unbelievable (this is meant to be a fight at the end of the day)...so at some point my ability to continue to believe in the story falls off where I know most fans are still completely invested.

Bryan vs okada was super over rated it wasn’t better than angle vs cb

Dave even has his bias for japan when it comes to getting out the star ratings way faster lol Thr only star ratings that matter to me are from going in raw.
