i have a fun fact for you: this is not a full version of they team, they have 5th, 6th, extra ranger, spirit ranger and all of them is very cool (trust me), just enjoy slowly
I don't think you're wrong, brother, in making the comparison. You grew up with power rangers. As an Asian guy, I grew up with super sentai. When I first saw power rangers, I didn't like it as much as super sentai. But I hope you'll watch some sentai. I believe you will definitely like it.😊
@@pepethegenderequalityfrog9536 rpm was the exception not the rule so my statement stands, a last ditch effort before the changing of rights ownership.......🤚 ........................ ........................🎤
Depends on what Asian region you grew up in. People from Far East probably more accustomed to Super Sentai but for me, I'm from Southeast Asia, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was more prominent than Super Sentai. I grew up with both because the TV channel during my childhood ran a few old Metal Heroes and Super Sentai shows like Jetman and Liveman, but MMPR was very prominent, and its merchandise was everywhere.
@@reggielacey2235unfortunately toei Spider man exists so.........yeah.........and he's the actual reason super Sentai started to use giant robots......and he even had a tag team with Kamen rider V3 as well.
donbros is a fun show, but peak? no way. it frequently contradicts it's own worldbuilding, the cgi rangers look terrible, and it's all around a bit of a mess
The thing is the Sentai has those epic moments with music and stuff when its like a climatic moment, or like the Final Boss. The rangers are generally all beaten up and when they change with the music in the background it makes THAT moment epic.
you are the only one youtuber that i want to watch entire reaction video, because you show your respect and favorite places to these series, make a lots of resonance with my opinion。sorry for bad english, this is not my main language
50:16 Since this is 45th anniversary, Zenkaiser (white) based on Goranger and other 4 rangers based on the megazords from previous Sentai. 🔴 Daizyujin (MMPR Megazord) 🟡 Gaoking (wild force) 🔵 Daibouken ( Operation Overdrive) 💗 Magiking (Mystic Force)
51:30 legend, singular. they're all based on the tale of momotaro, with red taking the role of momotaro. blue, black, and pink all take teh role of his animal companions. and yellow takes the role of an oni also you get used to the cg rangers, donborothers is a fun show
@@Skywolfhd20 The name Don Doragoku is a multi layered pun. The Dorago serves for Dragon, but the Goku is for Son Wukong, the monkey king. His country-side friends represent the rest of the animals, like the pig and the horse (it's kinda easy to see who is who because stereotypes). There's an unpopular book that served as a sequel to Journey to the West that is basically a dream jail for Sun Wukong, which pretty much is the plot of Jiro's village too. There's also the interview with the staff where they revealed details about the production of DonBrothers. The beta concept was fully Journey to the West, but they ended up scrapping it because they felt the team would have looked too similar to Dairanger, so they changed it in favor for Momotaro; but Momotaro has very few characters, so they ended up settling on using Journey to the West on the extra.
Its a bit unfair but the Sentai transformation video you're probably looking for is specifically the Final Roll Call/Henshin clips, a lot more explosions and main themes in the background for those. Sentai always saves the best for last.
48:40 fun fact : zenkaiger's henshin is based on each super sentai series, seen in the number on his head. Main character "45" based on the series celebrating anniversary of super sentai
16:59 Ironically enough, it was recently announced that there will be a Kakuranger 30th anniversary film 50:20 Close, for the base team, each one is based on a certain team based on that team’s number, with Zenkaiser being the mandatory 45 to represent the team. Design wise, Zenkaiser is based on Goranger with the color scheme of Big One from JAKQ, while the rest of the base team take their design from the respective teams’ mecha, Zyuran is based on Zyuranger’s Daizyujun, Gaon with Gaoranger’s Gaoking, Vroom with Boukenger’s Daibouken, and Magine with Magiranger’s Magiking. And for extras, the sixth member is based on the Gokaigers with allied robots that give him Shinkenger and Ohranger themed side forms, then there is the rival who is based on Battle Fever. 50:42 Yeah, this one is not the official role call, but one from a commercial, heck the Donbrothers don’t even have a proper roll call scene until way late into the series, when they’ve gotten more allies added to the team.
23:43 these clips dont have the explosions, but they do have explosions behind them sometimes, though it's mostly reserved for crossover movies between sentai teams to make it more special ig
@@diamonshade7484 Same, I was looking forward to see his reaction to it the most seeing a kid transform and seeing that they use this white ranger suit in mmpr
Personally, I dont mind the comparisons with PR. It's very interesting to hear your take between both PR and sentai transformations. Watching PR back when I was a kid dino thunder was my gold standard for what a transformation should be but ever since I started watching sentai I kinda prefer the simplistic nature of their changes/roll calls. It feels more naturally integrated in the show than PR (in my opinion). The action in sentai gets to ramped up alot so their simplistic change/roll calls are perfect for the series in tone and "vibe". And I definitely agree that PR feels same-ish on their roll calls after a certain point. But overall a great reaction as always and if you were to start reacting to a sentai series you should start with magiranger(the one with the capes).
what I don't like about these setlist video is that, they ignore the full teams for some reason. Like no Big 1 in JAQK, No Black Bison and Green Rhino in Liveman, etc. they just take the first henshin roll call, and call it a day...
40:31 on this whole topic: it _is_ probably your nostalgia but that doesn't make it wrong, you like the pr transformations better and that's fine imo. it's just a matter of taste
Kyoryuger brave was a Korean sequel series of Kyoryuger and the original name of the series is Power Rangers Dino force brave cause in Korea they do call it PR they even did dubs of some pr series with dubs of Sentai series as well
So Lupin Vs Pat is cops and robbers, Lupin ranger while they do have magician aesthetics theyre based on Arsene Lupin the Gentleman Thief. They're phantom thieves, theyre whole thing is stealing from the rich giving calling cards and making a show out of the whole process. In terms of modern media for this trope i highly suggest Persona 5 since thats the whole theme.
Fun Fact: Battle Fever J, Denziman, and Sun Vulcan were co-produced by Marvel Comic when Marvel and Toei had a partnership (its where Japan's live-action Spider-man series originated). Stan Lee loved Sun Vulcan so much he wanted to adapt it in the US Power Rangers style: Sentai stock footage with American actors out of suit. Sadly he couldn't get the green light from Marvel
there's occasionally cross-over special episodes/movies between kamen rider and super sentai (ToQger vs Gaim is my favorite), that might be a good watch because they don't expect you to know anything about either series since its made for people who may be fans of one or the other
Really enjoy your reaction. Unfortunately though, the transformation footages didn't include the extra rangers outside the main squad's three/five rangers. In short, you missed the chance to react to super sentai's Tomy Oliver 🥲
The bonus reel is Akiba Ranger, the Unofficial Squadron, whose powers work on imagination/delusion. This is a parody semi-season and the characters and plot are very meta/referential.
Fun Fact about AbaRanger you can spot them in episode 19 (Lost and found in translation) of Dino Thunder where the trio is watching Abaranger on Hayley's cafe.
You gotta admit when they stray away from the just a morph suit like kingohger's chest piece and "leather" (was it leather?) and boonboomger's track suit, the suits just POP more
just throwing it out there, PR shows do have the callouts/rollcalls after morphs, it probably happens most of the time in first morphs as like a intro, prob what this is a first henshin. should def be a PR video just like it that id love to hear you react to it!
If you want another intense(fun to watch) sentai video look for the final henshins. Honestly, I sometimes rewatch on my own already haha. In my opinion the sentai transforms and then hypes you up with roll call vs power Rangers where they try to shorten the time by combining the transformation and roll call together. One place this really makes you notice is for jungle fury and gekiranger
Maybe now you can react to all the 6th Super sentai team members transformation and roll calls, since they tend to be kinda different, plus its a shorter video
The boukenger clip they used here is the very first. They changed it massively like 5 episodes in and that was the one they used for the rest of the series.
Yes for Power Rangers series, the changing sequences is the best part of, but on Super Sentai the best part is kept to the roll call every time they change. Thats why they put really effort into these part. This is also why on power rangers we only know red ranger, blue ranger and whatever color ranger they are, in super sentai every series ranger has different name, thus different team name.
Power Rangers couldn’t shift to using the Dairanger suits without disrupting toy sales and confusing parents and/or children, so by maintaining brand consistency through sticking with the Zyuranger costumes they kept up the hype and could ensure a continued flow of money through the resultant profits, of course that meant a lot of finicky editing to make it seem like the Zyuranger suits were battling the MOTW from Dairanger, with original footage also being filmed where such practises wouldn’t be possible, rinse and repeat for season 3 and 3.5. They were able to get away with switching Tommy to being the White Ranger because they’d made his powers and their continued existence and the eventuality of said powers running out a plot point, thus giving them the ability to make the switch.
Linpinrangers are inspired by Arsène Lupin, a gentleman thief. Thet’s why the outfits are more flashy and have a cape. They have bow ties while the Patrangers have neck ties and their outfits have the tie and vest look.
I do agree that power rangers morphs are hype but I think a lot of super sentai's henshin are earned and probably require context for it to be cool since they do sometimes mix it up on how they transform. For example, they might transform whilst fighting or they sometimes might use their surroundings to activate their transforming device. Very cool reaction video though, looking forward to seeing more!
The gloriousness you speak off is saved for special occasions such as defeating the major generals or main villains. Using epic explosions all the time wears it out IMO.
What I love in Super Sentai and not in the Power Ranger is this video...because their pose/movements does make sense. Example: Kiba Ranger Vs White ranger /tommy Kiba ranger was a kid that's why the movement of the white ranger is like a kid, while tommy oliver his personality doesn't matches white ranger Example 2: gokai pink/goseiger pink Vs pink power ranger. When they switch to pwer ranger in pirate the personality and the pose become deffernt but its the same person gokai pink was a princess that why the movement and the pose was like a princess gosei pink was an angel that's why sge act like an angel...
54:53: fun fact about this, this was actually the first ever Korean Super Sentai/Power Rangers which is an adoption or continuity of Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger even though it's not really canon to the show
50:45 Everytime a compilation video reaction to Sentai henshin always has this for the DonBrothers and as one someone who enjoyed and seen DonBrothers this one does not give them justice cause we all know the true team transformation and how amazing it is and this just does not give it justice.
I'm interested in how the video used defines "Core Team" It doesn't show Go-on Black and Go-on Green's transformations when they are definitely part of the core team (though they do use different morphers). But does show the transformations of the Kakurangers, Kyoryugers, the 9 core Kyurangers, etc. together when those teams also didn't form fully on their first episode. The Gouraigers from 'Hurricanger' are a special case, but I'd think they'd fit here (they're their own team and I don't think they'd fit in some "Sixth Ranger/ Extraa Ranger compilation). I'm assuming the video was made before Boon Black and Boon Orange debuted, but considering the Go-onger point, wonder if they were just absent.
It’s clear that the compilation is based around the members of the team, but specifically the first time they transform, so even though Black and Green are both core members of the Go-Onger team they’re missing since they didn’t transform in the first episode.
You do know why they put so much emphasize on the morphing sequence on PR right? Besides the character storyline and background, it's mostly the most on-set footage that they have control of. Most of the fighting footages are Japanese, the costumes are Japanese. PR adaptation have to work around a lot of these constraints.
You should check out metal heroes openings and transformations in particular winspector, that show had one of the coolest transformations and insanely detailed suit I've ever seen in toku. Also, for some later Toku, Garo stuff
In the past they would reuse all the masked footage of Sentai, splicing in SoCal unmasked footage. Gets pretty weird when you go from Mt. Fuji to SoCal parking lot. I do get upset when they change the theme, but use the same costumes and gadgets, detracting from the original meaning, like with Boukenger. Supposed to be adventurers, with a magnetic compass on the chest, not a speedometer. Also the Power Ranger version was made years later with better computer graphics, so they did have that advantage for a time.
For my sentai fan's perspective, if we comparing a morphin' scene of Zyuranger and MMPR, we can see how Saban can manage the adaptation so very well at the first place. if we talk about cool. Zyuranger is not cool but they have a magnificent look. Because Zyuranger is based on the heroic fantasy story of JRPG game style (like Dragon Quest or the first Final Fantasy) So, Zyuranger is not madefor look "cool" but they're a brave knight of fantasy world. Mixed with a tragic story of family. They feels more "friendly" and "Delightful" if compare to MMPR. And that's a good point of adaptation. Because MMPR is a comepletly different story. Except a sentai footage, MMPR is can present someting really new and make thier own charms for american audience. Have so many "Cool" things like a morphin' sequence, Story, Setting, etc. That's a reason why MMPR is so successful til this day. Personally, i don't like when Power Rangers trying to copy & paste story of sentai. example Time Force. Many people said "Time Force is so good! Story is darker than other seasons" ...but for me, If compare with a Timeranger, Time Force is just a lazy adaptation. Feels like i just watch the same show again more than a new show. (I'm sorry for Time Force fans for my honest opinion lol)
You should probably react to the finishers and also the extra ranger heshins like the gold and silver rangers as they have cooler transformations (Personally)
I think it’s fine to compare some of these to their power Rangers counterparts as it obviously was what you’re familiar with. I also really like for specifically the Dekarangers, they kept the SPD theme and reworked it.
the reason role-calls are comming in most sentai series is a cultural thing, cos to japan its more honourable to announce yourself for battle maybe check out the megazord formations form sentai and the ultrazord formations (they are seperate things)
