Notice how when Po sees the scroll he says “It’s blank,” and when Tai Lung sees it he says “It’s nothing.” Po sees himself as a place for something to be made, whereas Tai sees himself as worthless without what he thinks he needs.

Teachers who are genuinely passionate about what they do always try to adapt - I've had a lot of them, and it's clear to me which ones really wanted to help students learn, and which ones simply fancied being the expert. My old teacher who still tutors me sometimes tells me how hard it is with the classes at school, but she still never gives up, and if one lesson plan fails, she ultimately tries again with a different one. She's admitted how hard being a teacher is, but she recognises that it was her commitment and considers it her responsibility to teach the kids. I honestly hope I'm ever as dedicated to whatever job I decide on as some of the teachers I've known. And hope I do better for those relying on me than the ones who let me down.

This movie does so many things right. The characters, their development, the fight choreography, the lessons, how well it depicts ancient China, it's all so great. One part I really like, and often see overlooked, is how after Po lays out his insecurities to Shifu, we see that Tigress heard the whole thing and finally started to soften up and feel sorry for him, and realized he was actually taking Kung Fu seriously, not "treating it like a joke" as she previously stated.
@nicolasbaron4506
@nicolasbaron4506 Год назад
I’ve always found it funny that one of the film’s main themes is about subverting expectations (in a good way). In the movie, nobody has any faith in Po, but he is able to persist and find success. The actual film had a similar reception where nobody thought a movie called Kung Fu Panda would be any good, but we actually got this excellent film.
@kuronaialtani

Not only that but the entire time shifu and the lot are mocking him, trying to get rid of him, the works, Po still stays and does his best But the moment that Tai Lung is actually coming, shifu immediately tries to keep Po from fleeing while Po can only think of fleeing And they finally have confront each other on the problems they've been having, forcing shifu to accept that he isn't in control and Po needs a teacher more than ever

@@kuronaialtani Yeah, I like Shifu's confession that he doesn't know how to train Po. He first blurts it out from the sheer exasperation of Po pressing the answer out of him at all, but then immediately turns introspective over it: if he can't train this student, the failure is _his._

One thing I've noticed is a lot of people tend to say Master Oogway's death was random. However, had he stayed, Shifu would have continued to use his presence as a crutch, as would Po (he literally tried the next scene). Because of this he removed himself from the equation so that they would be forced to fulfill their potentials. On top of that, the future movies, which I won't spoil, explain further that without him living to his potential now, future threats would have not been defeatable.
@theadaptationstationmaster
@theadaptationstationmaster Год назад
I don't think the criticism is that there's no dramatic reason for him to die. (There definitely is.) It's that there's no setup that he needs to "move on" except for him saying he feared he wouldn't live to see the Dragon Warrior. Still a great movie though. Maybe my favorite Dreamworks movie that didn't involve Aardman.

One of my favorite scenes ever, the music, the petals, all of it was beautiful. And honestly, death doesnt always call before coming. It is as you said, Ooway left when he had to, and he knew, he knew that Shifu understood what he just told him about the illusion of control. He knew he wasnt needed anymore and left in such a special way, as special as he was

_Kung Fu Panda_ is one of DreamWorks Animation’s best films from the animation, story and the stellar voice cast of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, Jackie Chan, Ian McShane, and the goat James Hong. Plus, the film with a very important message on "believing in oneself". When Po describes it as "blank" it’s because he considers himself an empty slate capable of learning and improving, compared to Tai Lung who despite mastering thousands of scrolls of Kung Fu he think very little of himself. Even Mr. Ping (Po’s Adoptive Father) revealed to Po regarding the secret ingredient in the the Soup that "It’s Nothing" which also ties to believing in oneself. Finally the 2D animated sequence of the Dragon Warrior Po was done by former Disney animator James Baxter and it’s crazy that it’s almost been 15 years since the film came out and next year would be the 4th Kung Fu Panda film. Looking forward to the next two _Kung Fu Panda_ films, James and Nobu.

The style of fighting you saw Po using against Tai Lung at the end is actually a kungfu style called panda style where they make their opponents tired with a strong 'Belly' defense, then they attack with surprise moves that appear to almost be an accident.

I'm still not over the story of Tai Lung, even though I've watched this movie a billion times. The way he was in prison all this time, WITHOUT MOVING AT ALL, in complete loneliness - that is something that finally may broke him. All this time stewing in anger, and hurt, unable even to twitch the tail... If only Shifu talked to him sometimes while he was there, I think the end result wouldn't be so disastrous.
@7thsealord888
@7thsealord888 Год назад
Well, we just don't know what happened between Oogway nerve-pinching him and prison. There might have been any number of attempts at talking Tai Lung around or rehabilitation or whatever. Maybe Shifu really tried. He might have tried any number of times previously. Insufficient data.

I believe Po's charm is the fact that no matter what he accomplishes, he's never arrogant about it. He stays true to who he is, remaining a kung-fu fanboy until the end. And I love that most about him. The way he can go from super serious, to suddenly getting overexcited over small kungfu things. He may be the dragon warrior, but the furious five are still amazing to him till the end.

I think Tigress is such a good female character because neither the movie (nor character) harp on the fact that she's a female. She's the leader, the fact that she's a female is never brought up, she gets respect from everyone, and she doesn't feel like she needs to prove anything just because she's a female. She just is who she is and that's enough. It's nice to see a strong female character without needing to act like it's special for her to be strong.
@alalmalal

@dragonsman4733

Another thing that makes her a good female character is that the reason for her stoicism, which is usually a male trait, is actually explained as to why she's like that due to child neglect and constant expectations she faced throughout childhood. She is basically Tai Lungs opposite

A nice showing of the difference in character for Po and Tai Lung is how they view the scroll; Po says it's blank, signifying that he still has much to learn and is willing to do so, but Tai brands it as empty or "Nothing" and throws it away in frustration, showing that for all his power and skill he's unwilling to come to terms with his faults and is too prideful to accept help and guidance from others on how to be better.
@gwenivercall

The saddest thing about Tai Lung is him looking at his own reflection and saying "It's nothing!" For example, I don't thing we ever saw Po's reflection the first time he looked at the scroll, only later, when he needed to see it. I just love this movie, so very much.

One thing to keep in mind for the sequels too is to pay attention to the meaning of the colors choice. Because the creators of the movie said that the choice of the colors have a meaning to a scene or character: gold for heroism, green for wisdom, blue for tragedy, red for power and brown for humility and hard work. It is specially mind blowing when you look at character's eye colors and clothing, so is definitely worth it to keep an eye on the colors when you guys react to the second and third films

Oogway and Sifu both represent different major Chinese philosophies. Sifu is Confucianism, while Oogway is Daoism, and the dichotomy between the two of them is fascinating to watch. It's really so much of what makes this movie... and this whole series so powerful. And... it is nuts. It is a comedy kung-fu movie starring Jack Black as an overweight, out-of-shape panda who is chosen to be a kung-fu master by an elderly turtle. What... how did this movie's premise provide one of the most emotionally powerful foundations... not just to this movie, which is outstanding, but to the whole series that came from it. The second movie is, in very many ways, better. I will wholeheartedly agree. The third one may not be quite as good, but it is still outstanding, in my opinion, and is such a powerful climax to Po's character arc. I can't wait for you two to get to see that one, too. And, at the end of the day, the fundamental message is to know yourself, accept yourself, and love yourself for who you are, because if you can do that, then nothing can defeat you.

Awesome attention to detail you notice how young Tai Lung kicked the training dummy ;he knocked over the weapon on the wall. But when young tigress kicks the training dummy it just bounces of the wall.

"BIG FAAAAN..." still gets me. lmao. I love the design of all of them but tigress will always be my favorite. For someone who actually grew up doing Kung Fu like me this movie has everything I like. It's been ages since they release the first one but I still think it's awesome to make turn the kung fu animal styles into actual characters of the story.

I feel like Oogway's "Totally" when he and Po are next to the peach tree is a subtle reference to Crush from Nemo, because he's a tortoise and Crush, being a turtle, is sort of his aquatic counterpart.

Seeing that whole chopsticks montage made me feel personally attacked. I can't eat with those sticks, let alone have a little Kung Fu battle with them. I always start off so determined to eat with them, but I just end up going hungry 🤔🫣. Thanks guys for the great reaction!

There's also a spin-off from this that is called "Secrets of the Furious Five", and shows the back story for all five of the members, and contains one of my favourite quotes about Kung-fu. Specifically, that it isn't just about fighting, or exercise, or things like that. It is about "Excellence of Self." Being the best version of you you are able to be, and working to better it, and that any activity can be a form of Kung-fu if done with the intent to truly improve yourself

I don't think it's better than How to Train Your Dragon, but of course, at the same level, I think these two films are the best animated films ever.

What I love about Po’s journey to becoming the Dragon Warrior is he learns to master all aspects (physical, mental, and spiritual) of Kung Fu. I can’t wait for the sequel reactions! I want to recommend another panda movie that is seriously amazing and underrated, The Amazing Panda Adventure starring Stephan Lang (Colonel Miles Quaritch from Avatar). 🐼🐲👊🏻🧠❤️

Oogway knew that Shifu would never continue his spiritual development as long as he was still around. By Oogway leaving Shifu was forced to continue his journey and believe in Po. Oogway is wiser than us all. Believe it or not Kung Fu Panda II is even better.

the only movie scenes i ever cried for were when oogway ascended and in the movie coco where that old lady remembers her father again in that climax ....these things made me cry for real . despite them being animated movies , i just realized how heart touching they were and how much emotionally they spread the messages .

I LOVE this film, Tigress is my favourite character. Also I want to yell at the characters, Po is a Panda, Pander shaped, he's fine, leave him be lol An other Dreamworks film that a lot of people tack the mick out of but I think is underrated is Trolls, if given a proper chance, it's great. Songs are catchy, characters are good, it's funny, sad, has it's dark moments! artistically there are a lot of beautiful moments.

It’s honestly insane how well made these movies are whether it’s Pixar or Dreamworks if you’re familiar with 3d rendering. A mjndboggling amount of work just to make them functional, much less an actual good movie. Panda is on the top end too.

KFP is an absolutely delightful Dreamworks film imo! Not only is it a temple full of laughs, but it is also action-packed and has inspirational wisdom too. The characters are wonderful and the voices behind them are great too, especially Jack Black as Po and Randall Duk Kim as Oogway. And let’s not forget the music as well because it is amazing! Honestly, the KFP franchise is among my top favorites from Dreamworks, like How To Train Your Dragon for example.🙂

I’m surprised you haven’t reacted to this yet, but better late than never. The coolest fact about this movie is that the bridge fight was the most difficult scene to animate. Initially, nobody wanted to do it, because it had never been done before. The reaction was “Great! All the more reason to do it!”

I love Kung Fu Panda🤩😆🔥. All three are really good. The animation, the score and then visuals were really amazing. I really enjoyed the first one. Jack Black was born to play Po as he did a amazing job. I adored Dustin Hoffman as Shifu and I loved the growth in his character as he believed in Oogway and trained Po👏👏. Angelina Jolie as Tigress, Jackie Chan as Monkey, David Cross as Crane, Lucy Lui as Viper and Seth Rogen as Mantis were amazing/great👍😆. Loved your reaction and keep up the good work❤️

I remember going to see this movie in theatres with godmother and two other family friends. It was funny and I was in love with it ever since. That's one of the reasons I became curios with Chinese history and martial arts. I even did a bit of Karate activities and I thought I was legit doing some Kung Fu but it was boring to me but still good. I can't wait for the second reaction of this Trilogy we are going through my Childhood.
