The sad thing is that there could be dozens of other families like this in the US but they just aren't caught yet.

Ah, yes. The Turpin family. My dad actually knew them back when they lived in California briefly (I don't remember the exact date, I'll ask him later). This was back when the oldest child they have was an infant. He lived in an apartment below them. My dad's always had a green thumb, and he used to have a planter with a bunch of plants. He remembers that every time they would hose off their balcony, the water would run down into the planter and kill all his plants. That was odd. Then one day, they just up and left. He didn't even notice right away, because they were never too friendly (other than the wife sort of flirting with him one time after coming over because an earthquake had scared her). Then he gets a knock on the door (can't remember if it was cops or the landlord, I'll ask him about that later too), and is told to come over with them to see the house. It's an absolute shithole. There was so much crap stacked waist high, and only small little pathways around stuff to get around the house. They kept dirty diapers. They kept their dogs in cages 24/7, and only let them out to hose down the poop and pee that would build up. That runoff was what would always kill his plants. When these sick bastards finally got caught and news started spreading, I remember my dad calling me and my mom and telling us "these are the people that lived above me with all the crap in their home! I remember their faces! These are the people that kept killing my plants!"

am i the only one who finds it painful to watch them reacting to the video, I love the commentary but pausing the vid every 10 seconds to add like 3 mins of dialogue is just really hard to watch. I feel like before i watch this i should go watch the original video theyre reacting to in order to understand the context. Love the podcast though, longtime fan just not sure if its just me who feels like this.

This has been the most intriguing podcast highlight I've seen on this channel. There is great commentary banter for a very interesting topic. I was unaware of this story and it was very shocking to hear about it. But I definitely think more unsettling topics of news should be looked into because they are reality. This is the first comment I've ever left on RU-vid and I will be watching "Room" soon Erik!

This is clearly not as bad as Logan Paul making fun of the dead guy but this seems kinda distasteful

i could see this video easily raising controversy because of how everyone on the podcast approached the topic. don't get me wrong, i'm a huge fan, but it'll spark some similar reactions to a logan paul type situation because they both revolve around dark topics. i myself find the podcast pretty harmless, but some parts can rub people the wrong way with what could be considered as insincerity towards the subject. again, i'm not complaining here, but i expect h3 to get a decent amount of backlash for this one, whether it be justified or not.
