In this video coach John Shepherd (www.johnshepherdfitness.com/blog) takes a look at the early season training that you could be doing to improve your long and triple jump and sprint performance. He takes you with him to a couple of training sessions and explains why his group is doing certain exercises.
You'll see that the sessions are based on units of drills and that each has a specific theme.
In the main session covered you'll see four such units - which cover:
basic drills, acceleration, plyometrics and tempo work. In another session you'll see some take-off drills and also get an insight into Triphasic (multi-action jump and weights training).
These workouts would suit any horizontal jumper and short sprinter, looking to get off to a specific start to the training year.
In may ways training is more about what you don't do, rather than what you do do. This means that you should not waste your valuable training time doing exercises that are spurious and have little direct relevance to sprinting faster and jumping further.

Mr. Shepard, I truly enjoy your videos. I coach in NYS, along the NY/PA border and we are now into the indoor track season. Can you provide some tips for working with new high school jumpers during the winter months? Thank you!

i am a 69 year old freestyle wrestler and just started doing sprints, i can do in summer 100 meters in 17 seconds

How early before the season should I start training for long jump?

Well, do you mean technique work? If so technique and elements of it should remain part of the programme all training year. If you are doing other sports and then gearing up for the track season, this is more difficult to answer, due to not knowing what specific (or not) condition you are in and how much time you have. If you let me know I will try to answer.
