@@Lukemasonmedia I play session, and skater xL, I have videos of it. They are just bland and get boring after a while. I’m mostly looking forward to playing online and skating around the city with my boys. I just prefer skating realistically, and staying away from the high speeds, flips, manual combos, flipping in and out of grinds etc.

Why be a real when you can ride your own skateboard in real life.

I don’t want any “realism” setting to be tied to rng. It can be an option but it must be separate. Realism in this game is up to the player to not spam trick and flips but do things with intentionality

Skater XL has a shit ton of mods to add all of that depth and realism, including how the board is caught, the way it flicks, how the arms move, etc. Skate 4 "realism" just looks like Tony Hawk imo.

the graphics and animations on this when its finished will probably make that problem go away

@@twapgooth yeah, people in uncontacted Amazonian tribes who've never seen a screen know this game is pre-alpha. The idea is that commenting it now might influence a dialogue/ultimately influence the developers to polish up them 360s to the best of their ability.

@@_CARKENT skater xl was a fucking godsend for me while waiting for another Skate game. But being a skater myself, I always played skate 3 on hard and would spend countless hours building realistic park and street spots. XL really brought in the fulfillment of skating because of the learning curve and practice required. I'll always have that love for the more laid-back arcade style of eaSkate too. They each have their own place.

Ya that’s what feels missing to me. Add different animations to the landings too. Go watch a real skate video and majority of them are ass to grass on big drops, and many sketchy landings which makes it even more insane.

@@Tycho I played SkaterXL during it's beta phase, granted beta is still more developed than alpha, you can still get a VERY clear idea where the game development is heading. Skate 1/2/3 all have been very arcadey, so looking at past trends, AND this alpha version, Skater 4 will also be unrealistic. SkaterXL with the correct mod setup(even without any mods) beats Skate 3/4 in every single way imaginable lol.

If you're playing on controller press both joysticks while you're on the board and it will change the angle

You could already change the angle in previous games, but now you can even switch it without having to go into the settings

I personally think they should do both movement / options. So you have the option between 2 stick, or 1 stick. I enjoy having 2 sticks as it’s easier to do exactly what trick you want, and I feel a bit more “immersed” into the gameplay.

Dude yes, exactly. Skater xl is sick, and I like the way the controls flip for switch, but skate 3 just has way better flow. Landing a line of tricks in skate 3 feels more like what it feels irl when you're just doing a bunch of tricks that you've ready done hundreds of times. Don't really have to think about it you just do it

The animations here are way better than they were in skate 3 too, which is what I really want to see. The flips looking good and the flow of a line being good > everything else

There might be different difficulty levels, like in s3 you wouldn't get so much air off of pops and stuff...all in all I agree

It still looks just generally very floaty, and I definitely feel you on there being too much pop out of tail slides. It also looks awkward doing any sort of spin like a front 360 with no grab. Something just looks off about that

@@tradeka4206 I think it looks good from 1:53 to 2:07 with the exception that it gets _waaay_ to much pop. What I like is how the board seems to adjust to the incline in the landing. And the 180 nosegrind I think looks great (except again it's _waaay_ too poppy). And yea I agree, 360s don't look good at all. Irl a 360 is very far from an ollie that just rotates around its Y axis. A 360 involves the skater building up angular momentum _before_ the trick, and also it involves a _scoop_ rather than a _pop._ I think the difficulty in that lies in the fact that there's no way for the game to predict that you're about to do a 360 rather than just a 180, or a simple ollie so it has no way of loading up a 360 "build-up" animation. It's a hard problem.
