Austin Bottensek you’re right, should have used new U bolts. I just assumed the kit would have supplied U bolts and didn’t have time to wait for new ones. The ones on the truck were in really good shape, they should be good for now. Famous last words hahaha!

Thanks Joe Dirt! You can definitely do a flip kit on your 96, there are a bunch of kits out there for these trucks. The kit on my truck is made by DJM and it’s a 3/5 drop. Pretty sure you can buy from DJM directly. My kit was bought from Summit Racing but they don’t carry the kit anymore. Hope that helps!

Do I. Need a pinion angle Shim to correct the pinion angle and what type of shocks would work?

towards the front... you want to put the off center hole for the U bracket plate over the leaf spring center bolt towards the front...same with the hole you drill off center for the bottom U bolt plates...this will bring the rear differential back giving the driveshaft the space it needs so it doesn’t smash into the transmission after the rear is lowered...and you will notice the U bracket plates will have one side longer than the other...that corrects the pinion angle so you don’t wear your U joints out...you’ll be able to notice that the bottom of the U bracket plates will be at wicked angle if you put them on backwards... hope you understand what i just wrote...some times i don’t understand myself😂

@Trapper Jay, yes you will need to buy shorter shocks for the kit. Any company that sells lowering kits should have the shocks. Just tell them how much your lowering the truck from stock height.

@Trapper Jay. Oh ok so you need shock extenders for that year of truck, I think I’ve seen them before. They look like relocation brackets. Cool. I’ll be watching for a video of your truck when you finish installing the kit. How low are you going in the rear?

@RIP Revolution, I tore my first car apart and put it back together when I was 15 so you should be able to do a lowering kit. As long as you have the tools. Hardest part was money, I didn’t have much put aside for new parts, ball joints, leaf spring hangers, bushings.....all the little things added up more than I thought.

RIP Revolution you can do anything as long as you put your mind to it homie. Don’t let anyone tell you what’s right and what’s wrong. I’m 17 and I have a 89 f150, I lowered it 2 inches in the rear with shackles but I want it even lower. I’m planning on doing this just need to get a job first lol

Hey Shawn Stanley, the kit uses factory shock mount locations. They give you shorter shocks in the kit. I have a short video of them Installed on the truck in my playlist on my channel.

yeah i did the front too…i used the dream beams…3” drop…worked out nice…no camber problems..

Hi Roydrick Smitnj, the truck drives like a whole new animal! Quicker recovery from bumps and a better bite into the turns on the road!

@Lawnmower16 2012, really happy with it still, truck rides nice, quick recovery over bumps, tight around corners, level stance. Nice squat for launches. Simple kit. The alignment shop liked the camber. We have really bumpy roads where I live and haven’t had any clearance issues.

Still the 302, hooker headers, under drive pulleys, wires, coil, distributor, ac delete, electric fan, custom air filter kit. Weight reduced to 3800 with me in it. Decently fun for a truck, for now. Have a Roller 351W for it, turbo swirl heads with C6 trans. Waiting for the extra cash to come around and refresh them. Cash always seems to be the problem, lol. A 460!!! Yes indeed that is a beast of a motor over top of any front suspension! There is a lot of room under the hood for it! 👍

Torn Faction Videos sweet I might try and make a short video of mine when I get the motor put it it Hopefully in a month or so It already sits pretty low in the front so i think I’ll just flip the rear axle and let the engine do the lowering in the front maybe I’ll get some springs for the front but we’ll see
