@CASSIE Lovera No, that is simply not true. I don't condone violent or extreme behavior, and I certainly did not say all of you are being close-minded. I never claimed EVERYONE in this thread and comments section had the intention of portraying ALL vegans this way. I feel like you jumped the gun on that one. It is frustrating to have this conversation because certain people just follow along with how the media portrays vegans (i.e. extremists, violent actors, even terrorists). Remember that abolition of slavery seemed radical, women's right to vote seemed radical, but why is this any different of a movement?

The best no longer vegan video I've ever seen. You explained very well the reasons why I quit veganism. Loved that guy saying he needs steak or else he gets anemia, that's what happened to me and no supplements or lentil plus vit c can make you strong enough to lift bags and take trash and do chores and stop napping during the day and grow your hair and nails fast. I was mostly vegetarian all of my life because of poverty and vegan for 4 years, during which I developed ovarian cysts and endometriosis and daily bleeding and my period was irregular. Liver has stopped the daily bleeding and many of the symptoms, my period is regular and I finally feel normal, I'm not always fatigued! Thank you for speaking about this! Much health to you!

It's worth noting also that fruit sugar (fructose) is broken down by the body into two separate compounds. One of which interferes with the efficacy of your satiety hormones, meaning that your brain is impeded from telling you that you have eaten enough : fructose promotes overeating. It comes down to us from the time when fruit was available in small amounts only once a year so evolutionarily speaking, at that time of year when animal foods were becoming more scarce - herds moving on, flying South, going into hibernation - it was a survival advantage to glut on any available sugar, which the body will utilise for energy (The Randle cycle) in preference to fat.

Same. I was vegetarian for 25yrs, vegan for about half of that & raw vegan for 1year (until I ended up in the hospital w severe electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, vitamin & mineral deficiencies). Vegan works well for some people but I became extremely weak & ill the more “pure” I ate. Health gurus in the community kept telling me I was simply expelling toxins & told me to keep going & avoid western medicine (even though I was severely ill). A few years ago I finally let that lifestyle go & went full keto. I recovered quickly & dramatically (no longer keto but still eat meat). I still have issues absorbing iron & require periodic IV infusions, I think it is a result of the bowel damage done when I was raw vegan. Bottom line: listen to your body.

It is worth noting that, while Hong Kong is the world's largest consumer of meat, per capita meat consumption has risen greatly there within the last 10-20 years (incidentally, its vegetable consumption has also risen, but still not as high as the global average). So the current high meat consumption is clearly not the main reason why current Hong Kong elderly people got themselves to the long-lived state they are currently in.

Excellent video, thank you for sharing! On a side note: Vegans often suggest that veganism is similar to Christian Orthodox fast, to make veganism appealing to Christian Orthodox people/countries, and they even say that it’s the diet of Mount Athos, which makes veganism sound legit for people who really don’t know what they eat in Mount Athos. However this isn’t true, they are not vegan in Mount Athos, and as for the Christian Orthodox fast, a) it completely distorts its meaning, as it is a restriction of the diet for certain days that has a completely different meaning and it’s not a doctrine by itself and b) we can have honey, seafood, tarama which is (very nutritious) fish eggs and even fish some days. It’s also clear that Christian Orthodox fast does not want you to be malnourished. You are not supposed to fast if you are sick or breastfeeding. I believe it’s time for us people who come from a Christian Orthodox background to expose this distortion and finally clear this up.

I started eating meat again at the advice of an Ayurvedic doctor (no, an Ayurvedic diet is NOT a vegetarian diet - although most Ayurvedic practitioners are promoting it as such). I was very lucky and I KNOW what meat does for the human body because I experienced the difference first hand. So will many of these militant angry and misguided people. I hope they wake up before they do serious damage to themselves and the rest of us by supporting those Totalitarian psychopaths who are trying to ruin our world. (When Bill Gates started promoting veganism, that sealed it for me!) Learning about the cycle of sustainable farming and the necessity for animals to restore the earth, was the final convincing argument.

I'm still confused about this. I did 2 years on vegan diet, and there were pros and cons of it. (However I did a lot of research first on what would be the best way to eat for a muscle head. Cause I saw many people handled this unwisely). My anxiety faded away after eating eggs again. But I also see now that I was getting a lot of benefit from some plants. I swear by leafy greens, fruit, nuts, seeds and avocados. I think I'll try those plants + 15 eggs a day. As I'm not a huge meat guy.

I have read a lot about The blood type diet, which Can have an explanaition to that question. In that theory blood type 0 thrive a lot better on meat than blood type A, who thrive better as a vegetarian. So for my little study would you reveal your bloodtype for me? For years, I've attempted to have a long term plant based vegan diet. I've been vegetarian for 16+ years and I'm healthy. But I noticed that whenever I'd eat plant based vegan for more than a week, I started having a lot of issues...but especially gut issues such as constipation. I truly thought that a strict plant based vegan diet was the best and healthiest diet for us. But I've seen people who eat a vegan diet die from diseases that veganism claims it prevents. But then people who eat animal products regularly live to be in their 90's with no significant health problems.

Went to several vegetarian Chinese restaurants in Vancouver. Many of them pretty tired up with some small Bhuddist temples. They found ways to imitate almost everything with soy. Beef, pork, chicken, fish, ham, ham it. The.food was good and tasty with a peaceful atmosphere. However why this obsession with imitating every form of meat with artificial coloring and flavoring? Would they loose all their clients if they dumped a pile of soy protein in a plate? Or if they shaped it as banana or pineapples instead? I decided to try the carnivore diet for 10 days to see if I would get gout or any nasty issues meat is supposed to give us. I am on day 8 and I am adding another 10 for sure. in the end, diets can heal not by what we add but by what we subtract. There is nothing wrong with some healthy soups and dishes straight from an organic garden behind the house. What I am looking for are foods with 1 or maybe 2 ingredients in them. Weight is dropping pretty good. Dropped 25 pounds recently on a non keto but low carb diet. Going for another push as i was not able to drop my abdominal fat that much. A buddy of mine cleared his pretty quickly even at 54 years old. Great post btw.

Validating. A Chinese acupuncturist suggested I go vegan to help cure an illness. I can't eat meat, but agree farm animals can be good for ecology, if the farming is done right. I became severely, even dangerously anemic after a few months on a vegan diet. He also said don't eat too many raw veges or salads which I agree with -- too hard on the system. Although salads are supposed to be "healthy", they are actually not for some people. Imho, the Earth does not have a gender, although it's kind of like a "mother" to us. Please don't use demeaning, disrespectful terms for women and call the Earth "a sexy young woman" or an "old hag". The Earth is sacred and complex (and so are women).

But I've never heard of a PURELY adult vegan who never had any animal product (save for maybe their mother's breast milk). I've heard more stories of babies dying or getting sick of malnutrition because of a vegan diet.

Good for you angel! Glad your on the other side =) My family have always eaten a Mediterranean diet and Iv grown up to that aswell - So we usually just eat dairy occasionally and meat but its always been apart of our diet. I remember when the vegan trend became huge while I was younger I considered it - and my family would always say "We are all part of the food chain, you think if a lion saw a zebra its going to shake its hand and say hey dude lets be friends and eat grass together? No, its going to eat it. It needs food, and so do we. We live of the land, fruit, vegetables, animals. We need it just as much." It really made me look into how we do really need it! P.s (my great grandmother is in her 90's and is still super healthy, and her diet does consist of meat) BUT YAY! Your out of that 'cult' haha!!!! Much love xx

Hey, thanks for the thoughtful video, watched it all the way. I'm commenting because I think you made some fair points. I've been like 98% vegan for almost 3 years - not supplementing anything (apart from Calcium and B12 etc that's been already put in veg.milks) and not consuming much of the over-processed mock products, either. I've noticed my moods/well-being depends mostly on how much I exercise. Bloating (so basically inflammation in the gut) has been a thing of concern, though, so it kinda goes against the promise of vegan foods being super gut-friendly, even though they contain lots of anti-inflammatory stuff, so that's kinda confusing. During this time I haven't become a skeleton like quite a few vegans (not all tho) have. I think you did a great job when speaking pro-omnivore diet and went a bit psycho when going on the offensive against veganism (the cult talk, destruction of human species, horrible crop production(of which most goes for animal feed, y'know ofc) and showing some crazy people whom I've never even heard of). It's easy to attack on the extremes of some ideology, but being a bit more balanced could actually help the discussion/add value to your points. Mocking (Greta Thunberg) is also lame, that doesn't help you at all ;) I guess we agree that, as the health authorities and dietitians recommend - animal products can be on the menu, but at a much lesser extent than the average consumption is, in order to avoid bringing in their negative health effects (everything in moderation rule). I also agree that consuming such products as you showed can potentially be more natural (local, less processing and less steps to get to the plate) and even benefit the local ecosystem, given we reduce the intake far below current averages. However, in our current society, and especially in countries with denser populations than Estonia, the industry makes it really convenient to cross the line of sustainability/health/animal welfare towards the bad side. So basically this extremely intense industrial animal agriculture is on one side of the spectrum, and veganism is kind of the polar opposite reaction to that. Speaking of which one of those is better overall, I'd give it to veganism, given current planetary circumstances and trends I just spoke about. Veganism seems to have less negatives, not saying it doesn't have any. From a single human perspective, the local omnivore (with lots of plants) diet you were talking about probably is closest to natural (assuming you didn't really mean "ANIMAL FOODS are the way!" which was just to catch the attention). From the global perspective, the local omnivore would be quite a tough mission to achieve (unfortunately!). Neither do I think that veganism can fully take over. Now should we try to pursue towards the most "natural" always? I believe the key to survival is not being closest to "how things should/used to be", but how well a species can adapt. The current planetary outlook is absolutely not great (just being realistic), so for the human benefit, some adaptation/change needs to happen on our side. With this I'd like to point to the "vegan industry propaganda for profit" argument. While this is true that companies should make profit to survive (and also, useless vegan junk foods do exist), one shouldn't simply water down the efforts to advance in food technology, if the intent is to reduce carbon footprint and animal suffering (while combining nutrients and keeping the textures and taste we like). Just like advances in all other fields (medicine, IT, transport etc), improvement in food technology can be beneficial, if done right. Similarly - we don't use horses to plow the fields anymore, only because it used to be so when better tech wasn't available. Despite all the weird ingredients and unnatural actions we take, human lifespan has increased - so technology isn't the magical solution to everything, but neither is it an all-out evil invention. All in all, I don't think it makes much sense to seek for the absolute right answer and polarize/attack on everything else. Times keep changing and the window of optimal solutions keeps slowly moving, too. Right now science shows that we need to drastically reduce meat intake with the increasing possibility of being well-off on a vegan diet, thanks to new technologies. Vegan diet might not be the perfect solution (also people are different), but research shows it is mostly healthier than our current eating habits, not to mention reduced carbon footprint.

@@SkinCoachTanel Yup, it's true that degraded land can be brought back to life with animal herding, I think there was a TedX talk on that with reference to Africa. Living such a country-life can indeed be beautiful and decentralize the relatively destructive intensive-farming industry. However, this is a lifestyle choice and shouldn't be assumed to be to everyone's liking. Earth could probably feed, yeah, even more people than there are right now. Problem is more with resource distribution, not population distribution. The reason there can be so may of us is thanks to a drastic increase in calories produced per hectare, so unfortunately in this case intensive farming is here to stay. Now I don't think you should fantasize about what FFF are or are not going to do, that is just pointless ;) They are pro-humanity, after all :D That movement is actually activism to amplify the voices of well-reasoned professionals&scientists (which are suppressed by...corporate greed...mostly), contrary to some woo-woo opinions which are usually louder (Dunning-Kruger effect). Activism is opposite to self-hatred and helplessness, even though, yes, exceptions are everywhere - many young children don't comprehend all the details of the movement, but the idea is generally right. Oh, and that cannibalism thing - it's crazy enough not to fit in the "socially-accepted" (aka Overton) window, so no need to worry about that :D
