This is a video mostly about making a pattern for cast iron pouring on a metal lathe. In Addition I show how I prep straight edges for painting and problems with the Safe Weight Reciever Hitch. Straight edge is used for restoring my Bridgeport bed and other precision metal work.

Wrap a string around your cross feed wheel and let the carriage movement unwind it for a steady feed. Put some sort of winding cylinder with steps in it on the wheel to allow various taper rates. Or use a steel cable for less stretch.

I was rushing everything to make it and get it over to Clark's the last trip but it just didn't work out... I have been to clarks three times now and put in a lot of time working on patterns making them smooth enough to pull and I put everything I learned into this pattern... Should pull just fine :) We will see!

It looks like you teleported from Dons shop, to working on Bob, over at your place. You've always got some interesting things going on. Those plastic strings can be nasty if you have anything loose around, and they grab ahold of it.

I have the weight safe hitch, but it has a ball on top and bottom. You pull the lock and flip it over. Works great and has had no problems. I would call weight safe and see what they say, they are easy to work with.

How does it measure the weight if it passes through the hitch and does not rest on the bottom of the ball? Some type of fork?

Look out for Rust Converter used in the body and car restoration industry it converts rust back to an inert base and you can paint over it when dry

I use Permatex brand rust converter, it turns a nice deep black.

This does after a while but it sure not the same as it was years ago... EPA probably got involved :(

Hi Steve, If you have time, do you think you could do an autopsy on the old trailer hitch, I'd be interested to see how it works and/or if it could actually be repaired?

That looks like UHMW. I hate turning that stuff because of the way it wraps around the part.

If you machine Teflon in Don's shop, does that make him The Teflon Don? Or does that only stick (pun intended) if Don himself does the machining?

All that and you didn't even tell what the pattern was for and we didn't get to see Clark's reaction to an all Teflon pattern. Come on... 😂

IT's for a top secret project that is coming soon... I would hate to have to kill you :) Clark was so damn happy about all the remodeling work on his shop that he didn't have much reaction :)
