God damn...you never realize how much the little things matter. The new hair REALLY brought this game back to the modern age for me. Glad the reclaimer finally got it's claw and the massive buffer it deserved. Salvaging is truly going to be one of the best loops now. 🙏
yeah it definitely gives the characters in game a much more realistic appearance - even the npcs have the new styles too and its so cool seeing them walking around :D
I first discovered this game a little over a year ago now and the reclaimer was the ship that made me fall in love with SC so seeing all the work being put into salvaging and the reclaimer recently makes me so goddamn happy. I'm still yet to build a PC and play for the 1st time but I've bought my game package and am so keen to play!!!
I started playing with a ryzen 2400g 4 core cpu and 16gb ram with a rx580 8gb gpu. You can start with something pre built for like 1200. Its worth it in the long run, good luck!
I play on a 5 year old pc, Intel 8700k, 32 gb ram and swapped out the 1080ti for a Radeon 6900xt last year. It runs 4k now playable Maybe you can get something similar second hand
Once again love the content and the banter. As you mentioned crashing a ship I was in my Reclaimer and I had a lot goods to sell but ran into an invisible asteroid and blew up. All that time spent and goods lost what a PITA.
haha yeah when the next caterpillar video comes out you can see my handiwork in the asteroids too :D I tihnk it happens to all of us, but the invisible ones are the worst for sure!
It blows my mind how impatient people are being about the claw. It's literally an unfinished place holder. The fact they added functionality is amazing. They now have a base they can work on and build up from, while giving the player base a working tool to help address the issue of the gazillions of wrecks and abandoned ships strewn around the verse and adding to the salvage play loop. As always, very GG to Kate 'n' crew for the great content. Loving the PTU experiment vids showing the can and can'ts of the upcoming content.
I have Reclaimer of my own and after like week of thinking and researching i finally named it, and i christened it as Honest Mistake its also pink so suits me perfectly
The first thing I thought when I saw the changes was.. Munch away, convert to boxes, much away again to fill the buffer then go sell basically two times in one sell trip.
yeah you can totally fill the ship then fill the buffer and sell all in one go! gonna make a huge difference for both ships but especially the vulture i reckon - giving maybe 40ish capacity to the vulture now will make solo salvage really viable :) also great to hear from you Hawkes! its been a while :)
Citizen Kate thank you for doing this video and I love the whole thing since the Reclaimer is one of my favorite ships and I am looking forward to making use of it now. Also, I love the way you stacked everything in the cargo area. As for the claw goes I agree with you that CIG is just using this version right now until they find time to make it as it was intended to be on the concept art that they provided years ago to us. I also suspect that CIG might allow us to use different versions of the claw mount with different attachments in the near future. Furthermore, we mustn't forget that the drones still need to be activated in the ship as well and one day we will see those in operation as well. Thank you for doing this video and again it was an amazing one to watch and thank you for making it. God bless to you and your entire family and keep up the good work you are doing
I absolutely LOVE how the reclaimer filler stations were pumped up. It really makes it fit into it's role of heavy salvage better. I adore that the bigger stations allow different sizes of boxes. If it didn't cost so much, I would 100% buy myself a reclaimer and run it solo
I do beleieve you can sell at scrap yards/breaker yards like Orinth on Hurston- thats where ive been going. lotta pirates hang around there though, so make sure to check the roof and look around inside before approaching the terminal
I love how you tell stories with each video :-) I have a really fun time following your adventures! And I get new ideas of things to try in the PU/PTU.
@@KyrainMcLeod while i dont have the ship the gap to the cargo hold doesnt look like it fit for the 16 scu. unless cig make it big enough. if i had a full buffer i would try a 8 scu either the gap or the elavator. either it fit or i go size smaller and fill the cargo hold then 16 scu the procceser hold
Love the update. However, other than the cargo grid fixes, what that Salvage Room really needs is an internal tractor beam on the ceiling controlled by a single control panel on the upper floor. The same panel could be used to operate the salvage compressor stations as well. Centralizing the control for heavy lifting, while having someone on the floor itself for fine tuning, would do wonders.
that is a really great idea! love the idea of a station (have you seen the engineer station in the hammerhead or Carrack? ) that overlooks the slavage deck and has a tractor beam and master controls. good thinking ;)
They definitely need to do some work with the cargo grid. Make it so it's only available for the scrap the ship puts out, because there is so much empty space that is so hard to use without a grid
Another great vid Kate. Overall good to see salvage progressing, but yes that munching thing needs some more interaction and visual stimulation other than the magical fairy dust that gets vacuumed lol. Knowing its place holder gameplay I'm sure CiG will take on board the "feedback" they get and improve it as it has the potential to be one of the most popular gameplay loops. I personally loving the bounties that you can now go loot for cargo and even free weapon upgrades! I can see that with your own hangers coming that salvage will be the great first step after a wipe. Go out in a salvage ship to get income and components/weapons for ships! I mean we are even finding npc bodies around wrecked ships, who needs shops! NPC ship/loot farming will be the way.
me too! I think the Reclaimer is now at a point where it can really be that rue Multicrew experience :) there are a few niggling bugs and obviously it doesn't have all of the modern comforts of something like the Corsair - but in terms of things to do its there!
Great video and I cannot wait for the rework of the reclaimer the cargo hold and cargo deck desperately need more height to stack up the boxes better. Love that they made it so you can make 16scu boxes to that’s so good!
I love that fracturing looks like little twinkling metal shavings- naming my reclaimer "YOUR CITY LIES IN DUST MY FRIEND" was more appropriate than I realized
I've been doing the General salvage instead of Risky. You can pick up a C2/M2 salvage claim for 50k. I have consistently recovered 2-5 scu of gold and 1-5 scu of Quant from each ship, along with 60+ scu of scrap and up to 128 scu of processed food. Of course, I have to leave the 32 SCU containers behind since they won't fit on the Reclaimer's elevator. I typically get around 50 scu of RCM from each Hercules. I may swap out one of the tractor beams for an Abrade to get a better yield off of the hulls, but the construction materials may balance that cost.
Now it doesn't just look cool, now it does cool things too 😆 I know a lot of people have been waiting for this day. Wasn't the reclaimer a ship that was added somewhat early on too?
Really cool new mechanics and toys, but somehow I keep remember that flowing HAIR!!! Crazy how I thought it just wouldn't even make a difference once you're running around playing, but you REALLY notice it! Love the new changes to Salvage.. just need to get the PU a little less plagued with crazy bugs.. lotta people getting shat out of their ship when they jump to QT these days lmao.
🌹 Love the content Kate! I didn't read it in the comments but did you know there's a cargo drop Shute at the back of the salvage processing room so you can have someone down stairs in salvage cargo collecting the boxes you drop down from the salvage processing room 🌹
Oh my, cant wait to take my reclaimer for a spin when 3.22 releases. tons of stuff happening now. Looking forward to spend aloooot of time on salvaging ;)
If they are going to go with particle route for munching, they need to make it so that all particles get sucked in, not just 10% of them. Sound is really cool tho.
Very cool. I hope they evolve fracturing into a skill based thing like mining. I also feel like the reclaimer loop is now too easily solo-able. It's supposed to be a lot more multi crew ship.
Love the hair. I'm glad we got a full salvageoop even if it's T0. It will help clear the PU of stuff the server needs to keep track of.. They said they're waiting on maelstrom so ship munching is a placeholder.
Really cool for the claw to finally have functionality, even if it's not the final version, anyone looked to see if there is some visual effect inside the reclaimer's grinder when munching happens?
Its good to see older ships getting "reimagined" , I hope the devs have some similar plans for ships like the Starfarer, or the MOLE, and some minor redesigns on OK ships with a few annoying defects (like the rear turret still blocking the cargo-bay on the Freelancer). Also, does this means that the SRV is worth getting?
I think they are making is easier at the moment, as I don't think you could fit the crew needed for both engineering and operations on the Reclaimer in the future.
Good video as always, such chill story telling. There is just one thing i wonder..... Why does everybody thing that the change to the claw is only temporary? If it would be they could have just used the standart claw, animated its opening and and emitting a field. Nope, i think this change is final. The physics they'll change is how ships will break apart physically. But i don't think the original concept of the claw will come back. To many points of trouble with multiple physical objects and to many high changes for those to glitch out in the claw. I would not not count on the original claw to return any time soon, if ever. Way to many problems to solve for way to little benefit.
I'm curious to see whether and how the effects of dissolving the ships will change over the next year. I think this will be revised as soon as they find time.
I like the claw as it is, I would like them to change the cargo grid to stack more but I am also guessing that we need base building in before the demand changes for selling materials. It’s a great step forward. I enjoy your content perspective…
The beam salvaging in the Vulture fits it perfectly but on the Reclaimer claw, it’s just looks dumb. You don’t even need an extension arm for beam salvaging, that can be done directly from the ship itself, so the extension arm really has no purpose, it’s such a cool idea and adds to the character of the Reclaimer but the thing doesn’t prove it has any purpose.
Standard Cargo Unit is not neccessarily always cubic meter of actual material. The containers must have some max net weight just like IRL shipping containers have and if the stuff you're shipping is heavy then the rest of the volume is covered by low density filler material.
Looks like the grids on the Reclaimer need another pass as well. The 5x5 and 7x5 don't math with 8x2x2 boxes. Cargo hold to as it is a room of 8 3x3x3 areas. The poor Reclaimer went from pointless, to less efficient than 2 Vultures and a cargo ship, to not really needing a crew with new claw, and finally needing a complete rework going forward.
The claws extending animation is pretty great, though I do really hope the like thanos snapping hull fragments is very much a temp thing and they end up going for something a bit more physical and satisfying.
CIG has indicated it is a placeholder until the Maelstrom damage engine is implemented. They wanted to roll out the change even though it is a temporary fix.
If the smaller boxes seem stable on the elevator....you don't have enough boxes on the elevator.🤣 Keeping with the "star" theme...we've taken to calling it "Star Dust" when the ship turns into dust.
Wait did she just say you can sell directly from the buffer 25:49 That's kinda crazy so you can fill 12 boxes of cargo on vulture then have 12 more in buffer so you'll be selling 24 would that technically mean vulture has 24 box capacity :hmmge:
wow that is impressiv !! i have some question for kate ( or any other that could answer them) : does the claw "power" work on ship that aren t dead/ softdead? does it do DMG to a working ship too? does the desintegration kill player when in front of it ( or here it was because of the conni breaking down?). also i was impressed that reclaimer didn t explode from inside with how those big box were tossed around XD
Hi Kate this was Awsome < I have been using the SRV, For Towing ,TRY This 250 K , Per Tow & 80K., I think you know this ,but the info is here , Have a great day, see ya in the Verse Citizen
