Ramones Tribute concert in 2004 Red Hot Chili Peppers talking about the Ramones + Live Performance Covers. - I Just Want To Have Something To Do - I Wanna Be Sedated - She's The One
alot of people have negative views about this, but its literally a band showing respect to one of the greatest punk rock bands of all time. i find it dope.
The RHCP always makes tributes, because they`re so glad that bands like Ramones`ve existed, so they want to show respect to them. Stop saying stupid things, guys
Amazing to hear respect the Ramones deserved for many years but as a band never expected or demanded...true pioneers ands artists... influencing others without expectation of compensation nor recognition just pure passion for their love of producing music that meant something to them and was so meaningful to those who appreciated their sound....I only saw the Ramones live once but it was life changing...seems I was not alone
I saw Ramones in the 80s, it was crazy. I loved it. It was in Lisbon Portugal. I was still a teenager. I saw RHCP in 2002, also in Lisbon. I was so high that I don't even remember, I know I had a lot of fun at the show. That's the most important.
forget green day, the peppers nailed every song. anthony puts in an effort to sound like joey and john actually plays in johnny's style using all downstrokes. these covers are amazing
It's nice hearing these tunes played at the proper tempo. Groups always knee-jerk speed up the tunes--as the Ramones did live. I'm sure it was a really conscious effort.
who cares if it was good or not , at least they showed up to pay there respects to a band that should have gotten more then they did . so show some respect
its cool just paying tribute, goes to show how they shaped the music world,Love the peppers an love the Ramones way more. Its all good.been a fan since 79
I used to play bass in bar bands and this was one we played a lot. The drummer liked to sing it. The bass line is so simple but now I can say that Flea and I played the same song!!!!!
I normally can't stand bands doing covers but lately? I'm changing my mind. I appreciate that they didn't try to make the Ramones songs too different (Like this is OUR version) Anyway most excellent and liked seeing the energy that has to be the signature of the RHCP. You guy killed it.
Red Hot Chili Peppers is my favorite band ever and this show was one of the best in the career of the band. Ramones is one of the biggest influences of Peppers RHCP & Ramones =)
I think, no one can compare the peppers and the ramones in the way, which band is/was bigger. They played in different times. And the situation is, that both are some of the most influential bands of their time. And its amazing, that the peppers showed their respect for the ramones with such a concert.
jajajaja es verdad...no hay nada que hacer con el publico argentino sobre todo! saltan desde el primer sonido hasta el ultimo....por algo editan dvd en vivo aca EN ARGENTINA! RAMONES FOREVER!!!
@@davidschmitt2362 they just had different styles, Kiedis can sing but must his own songs, and anyway he has a better voice that much new "singers" of now
Te quiero ver tocando como johnny, a una velocidad insana, todo para abajo y parando dos o tres veces por show no es fácil. Pd: Amo red hot Mothers Milk es el mejor disco de la historia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have never ever seen this before All I can say is WOWWWWWW , I've seen both bands twice in my Lifetime I wish I was Sober though for the Ramones shows 🥴😵😡😞
Are the people who comment serious? In what universe is Johnny Ramone a better guitarist then John Frusciante? C'mon, complaints about this not being punk enough? Guess what The Ramones is the original and quintesential Punk band. Cover that with more punk please. RHCP is on all levels a more skilled, versitile, and creative band then The Ramones. Don't get me wrong, I love the Ramones but seriously "They suck" "awful...pure shit" Thats the dumbest thing I've heard.
+Jakob Werme Johnny never ever claimed to be a great guitarist. Yet he invented the downstroke technique. Nobody had played like him till then. After that, thousands of bands came out trying to do the same. Red Hot Chilli Pepper haven't got half the creativity The Ramones had. The Ramones made hit after hit. Listen to The first 6 or 7 albums. The Ramones left a legacy that very few bands left and will ever leave.
I hate that shit.. invented downstroke technique.. Hendrix invented hammer ons, Van Halen invented tapping. Maybe they never claimed but seriously it's because it was so long ago and electric guitar was only around since the 50s. If they didn't invent that stuff back then any teenager in his bedroom could have invented it. And another thing is people giving all the credit to Hendrix for the RHCP albums John played on. Rolling Stone say constantly ' Frusciante mimicking Hendrix on Under the Bridge '. Hendrix didn't do shit on BSSM so fuck off.
I remember teaching myself to play guitar when I was little, I never heard of the Ramones, I used to only downstroke , a friend had to show me that I could also strum the other way. Does that mean I invented the downstroke technique?
Thank you for posting this tribute. The Ramones did not care if they looked strong or muscular. In fact, Joey would hide it if he did. However, it is nice to superimpose a TOUGH image on our heroes.
This is just okay. They need to be harder, faster and more fucking raw for this to be very good. It doesn't capture the Ramones energy, sound, speed, etc.. I want to like it more..its too slow and doesn't have that edge. The Ramones weren't the best musically..but they had that fucking edge and attitude that just effected you for reasons you can't even explain...
heysplangy Ha! I am a big fan of RHCP but this version of Havana Affair feels weak, limp, and trite to me. If you get more out of it, that's great too. I saw RHCP recently and I still dig them live as well as recorded. ...but in this case..it comes across as bullshit to me..at least on youtube..
Seriously? They suck? Not fast enough? Since when did punks ever cared about that? Lame, talentless singing my ass. If you were punk then you wouldn't care about quality. You'd care that they were tributing the Ramones and trying their best (or worst, depending on how you look at it). And before anyone thinks otherwise, I am a fan of the Ramones. I've never heard anything by RHCP 'till today. I am not just a fan trying to defend them. Maybe the band is punk, maybe it isn't. But this cover was pretty damn good.
I think it'sgreat that it's kinda slower than Ramones' version : it fit the Red Hot very well. They put their soul and their way of doing music in theses covers, I really like this.
This is why I hate when people say...Oh punk sucks, it so easy to play. These are very talented musicians (I respect the hell out of RHCP), but the performance is just lacking any real energy, as hard as they try. Three chord songs are hard to play like The Ramones
Gotta say... this is... just OK... drumming is just not good ... Ramones was all about the fast hihat and down strum of the gat... it has to be chunkie ... this as said is OK... but playing quarter notes accents doesn't capture the Ramones energy
Come on Anthony should stop messing up great punk rock songs with his stupid voice acting -.- RHCP are a great band but it looks like he doesnt have a clue how to sing punk songs ^^... see also Iggy Pop's Search and destroy... he didn't do it well...
me gusta mucho con el respeto que interpretan los covers, dan lo mejor de si cada banda, los ramones se lo merecen, son de las bandas mas grandes que existieron y solo 4 amigos......
awesome...I've alway's been a chili peppers fan. But this video show's they loved the Ramones too. My 13 yr old likes the chilis too. This gives us more to share. Thanks for posting this.... I wonder...did they do "beat on the brat"?
i saw the whole vid of the show- no band can do Ramones as the ramones did and sound [not even cj marky and collaborating musicion] i always knew about the Ramones and theire impact, but only recently i started to really listen to them and this is because all the covers RHCP and JF did so thanks RHCP- thanks Ramones thanks R&R
