This. I've been a die-hard RHCP fan since I was 12 (in late 20's now). One of my cousin's gifted me an RHCP greatest hits CD and I fell in love. I actually stopped listening to RHCP when John left, not just cause he's my favorite member but I just felt like he was a crucial part of the band and without him it wasn't RHCP. Josh was great, I just wasn't digging their sound at the time. I didn't like I'm With You and completely tuned out, never listened to The Getaway either (should I?). But this album is honestly very good. When I first heard Black Summer I wasn't feeling it. But after listening to the other songs on this album, and then finally listening to the album twice the whole way through, it's grown on me immensely and I'm actually very impressed by it. I've been obsessing with RHCP again since.
@@DreamTerrorist ironically they did Dark Necessities with Josh and that song is better than anything on this new album.. But I'm glad John is back. He has been with them on their best albums throughout the years.
At first, I didn't like it, except for White Braids and Pillow Chairs, I feel it's the "Hey" on this album. Very cool, especially the end. I think Anthony mentions California on every album just to spite those who notice it....now the album's grown on me like an alien. It's one of those repeated listens, and something catches you and it stays in your head. fucking brilliant. It's like taking LSD. You don't feel for an hour, then you down 3 more and in 20 minutes you're balls deep tripping...that's what Unlimited Love is...Welcome back, John.
I totally agree, I think that White Braids and Pillow Chairs is easily the best song. But every song on here will have a part that gets stuck in your head.
After all these years those myths continue to create magnificent albums, the ones that enter your head and will always remain there. I hope they never stop making songs
This is a very uplifting album with many excellent songs. "RETURN OF THE DREAM CANTEEN" is also amazing! "The Drummer", "Tippa My Tongue" and other songs are brilliantly written. Good job guys!!! I listen to them all day and night!!! Thanks guys!!! Thank You Red Hot Chili Peppers!
I am dying for a copy in purple and yellow!!! I can not wait to see them live in Santa Clara, got one section back from front row!! Been a fan since I was a kid and my first time seeing them, had to see them with John back with the band!! Childhood dream right here!
@@ryanscheid9553 look forward to sharing that experience with you!! Are you planning on bringing a sign or anything? I kind of want to make a sign saying “Welcome Back John!”

I’ve become a rhcp fan since 2012, and I was so frustrated then when I knew John had already left rhcp. John’s return and the making of a new album are totally a dream for me as a ten years fan. Hope one day I can go to the concert to see my favorite band playing!

when I saw the thumbnail I was stressed that you guys'd pull a Gorillaz and release another 14LP set, but it seems you learned your lesson after IBY. Now we're taking tactics from the Pumpkins!
