After seeing Dragoon tank Phantom Limb before getting killed, I'd like to think he's not senile but simply lacking blood supply from his new body situation.
+CJusticeHappen21 The Day the Music Died was February 3, 1959. Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens were killed in a plane crash. Of course here, Holly and the Big Bopper became Red Mantle and Dragoon respectively.
@Henchman Twenty1 lol any time Iowa is ever mentioned on screen, it's to illustrate how boring the location is. As an iowa resident myself, I can confirm, not too much to travel here for
@@toomanyaccounts lol idk if we're a statistical anomaly or not, but the only astronaut I've ever met is from Iowa, and I myself hope to make it to Mars one day, fingers crossed that spacex pulls it off lol
I hope everyone has picked up on the single most f*cked up part of this backstory. If it's accurate, it's implying that Dragoon is in fact "The Big Bopper" and Red Mantle is in fact Buddy Holly. Two famous musicians who died in a small plane crash in 1959. =3
I can't believe dude went from playing base in an unknown duo to learning magic for the sake of becoming a super villain. Must be some pretty smooth two year programs for the sort of thing in the world of the Venture Bros.
I love how in "1659" they're dressed in Renaissance outfits. By the way, who are the three people above Big Bopper and Buddy Holly? Also if the trend of recruiting rock stars and faking their deaths continues in the VB universe, that means that Ritchie Valens, Elvis, Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Kobain, Ronnie Van Zandt, Keith Moon, Janis Joplin, Cass Elliot, Brian Jones, Duane Allman, and Gram Parsons are also supervillains.
The Guild likes rock stars, at one point their leader was David Bowie (or a changeling closely associated with Bowie), and his minions were Iggy Pop and Klaus Nomi.
1959 - ~1912 = 47 years. Fantomas looked to be around mid 30s in ~1912. Meaning he’s roughly 82 here. 1912 - 35 = born in 1877. Assuming that Fantomas had children late like my great grandfather did, Phantom Limbs father born around 1926. Phantom Limb maybe in the 50’s
this gave me interest to the show because those two are Buddy Holly and Big Bopper. it just makes it looks interesting. I'm a big fan of Rock N' Roll though.
If you love musicians being reinterpreted as supervillains, then this is hardly the only time they do it. David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Klaus Nomi and Freddy Mercury are also there.
I thought they were the rest of the people who were involved in the plane crash, Ritchie Valens and Roger Peterson. I suppose that doesn't work since that leaves one extra.
I think he said Febuary 16th OF 59', but they specifically asked the VA to muffle the line and say it in this misleading format for the exact reason that it sounds like Dragoon said something else. Gotta love old people. =3
In the commentary for the movie, Publick and Hammer said that Valens was most likely killed by Red Mantle and Dragoon as initiation for them to join The Guild.
+Vineet Honkan That would be the Big Bopper. Born 1930, died 1959 along with Buddy Holly, who is Red Mantle, and Ritchie Valens, who is a loose thread in their story.
+Connor McLernon maybe ritchie actually died in the plane crash, with the other 2 faking there deaths. or maybe, faked the crashed, ritchie survived, OSI came and made him an agent, considering he was assumed dead.
+Matt Steitz also, having listened to both The Big Bopper and Buddy Holly, I'm going to say based on red mantle and dragoon' voices that it's plausible.
