I had a flush with 4 to a royal, released the 8 of hearts and got the royal👏👏👏👏

@johnsworldofvideopoker Год назад
Great Job, Teresita! Always hold 4 to the Royal. I was holding a 4 to a Flush over a 3 to the Royal because there is actually a better chance to hit the flush in that instance. But holding the 3 to the Royal over 4 to the flush is the proper play. I will no longer hold for the flushes any more in that case. It's 3 to the Royal! I've hit many Royals holding 3 to the Royal too.

Oh John, I heard you say holding 3 cards to the royal will be cut out. The largest percentage of my royal is generally holding 3. Given Bonus Poker doesn't pay squat for aces with the kicker. I would not throw away a chance at the royal in lieu of a pair. A few months ago I held a damn pair instead of holding 3 to the royal. Big big mistake. Cost me a ton. Just my 2 cents. lol I do not play Bonus but we all are striving for the royal...right? The way I see it is, I am going to be playing a million more hands so if I give up a pair, take the chance or the loss of a few credits.
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker Год назад
You “mis-heard” that. I said that holding the 4-card Flush instead of 3 to the Royal is a bad play and I’m going to stop doing that (i.e. I WILL hold the 3 to the Royal and stop holding 4 to the Flush. The only 3 hands that interest me in 8/5 BP is the Straight Flush, 4 Aces, and the Royal.😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

@@johnsworldofvideopoker OH ok. I had the news on watching the storm reports in Florida. My daughter has a house in Tampa. So I probably wasn't paying 100% attention. I went out tonight. The casino manager is a friend of mine. While we were talking she witnessed the multitude of times I had 4 to the royal. Did ok for the most part but no royal. Only hit 10 so far this year. I dumped a full house and got quads w/k. Another taxable...lol

Greetings from Torrance! Going south in the bankroll is just part of the journey. Great idea to switch it up. Doing so changes your rhythm and thinking. I have been pretty lucky lately playing Bonus Deluxe, but I don't play it for very long. I mostly do it to slow down my play. I'm more cautious when playing anything else(which is a good thing) Knowing when to quit a machine and move to another is the hardest. Part of my ego is wrapped up in getting my money back, but its good to stop, get up, walk around for a few minutes, clear your head, and find the winning machine. My spidey sense says that you are just a little bit away from the winning machine. Thanks again sir and please say Hello to Nimfa for me!

There's all kinds of old desert roads in & around Vegas, Baker, Barstow, and Laughlin. The history and the terrain of the area intrigues me because it allows me to see what the world was like not so long ago. These old deserted roads & towns are frozen in time. I find them to be charming remnants of another world before our own. Having grown up in rural Maryland until I was 18 riding horses all over the countryside was the greatest upbringing of all. Coming from that perspective helps me appreciate all things big & small.

Hi John, question. Do you ever play 3/5/10 multi hand. I’ve been playing it quite often @ $1 level. It has it swings but no more or less than single line. Is it better to play single line? Tia
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker Год назад
Hi Tia, I've yet to really explore the multi-line games, but they are, in fact, of great interest to me, because the multi-line games lower the volatility swings of the game. I've watched, Slotmassacre, play those (which sparked my interest in them) and I learned a lot from just watching him on that particular session. I'll be getting to multi-line play in the future, but I have some very specific goals to hit on 8/5 Bonus Poker on ultra high denomination coin in the near future ($20, $25, $50 Coin). I think it would be good for you to practice single line 8/5 Bonus Poker (on a simulator that "warns on mistakes" because that game is going to come in very handy for you in the future.
@markhayden4386
@markhayden4386 Год назад
The swings on triple play relative to single line play are indeed greater, but not triple. Bob Dancer has stated the bankroll requirement to play triple play is 1.2X of single line play. Multi-line play can be a "reduced" lunch when taking advantage of casino promotions and comps. For me personally I find triple play to be the sweet spot. A particular casino offers $2 9/7 DB (single-line) and $ 9/7 DB (triple play). I find the triple play in this example a much better value in terms of bankroll requirement and to max. promotions.

When I first started in video poker, I was a 9/6 DDB player and gradually found that my bankroll lasted si much longer on 8/5 BP. And the longer the bankroll lasted, the more and more Royals I started hitting, so I’ve been married to 8/5 BP ever since. How are you doing with hurricane Ian, right now, in Florida?🌎

@@johnsworldofvideopoker I'm so blessed. As you know, I'm on the eastern side of the state and central (about 90 minutes south east of Orlando). We had some rain and some wind. Nothing more than our afternoon thunder storms that we get every day during this time of the year. We didn't lose power either. Unfortunately, the western side of the state are in a very dangerous situation. There are many modular homes that are beachside over there. Well, were there. Insurance claims are also a challenge (if they even have insurance). When we first move here back in 2004, we experienced 4 hurricanes that year. When we bought our home in 2005, we had to get third party insurance. We couldn't get any major carrier to give us a policy. After 2004, they refused to issue any policies. I'm concerned that mobile home owners aren't insured at all. Sorry for my long story. I'm just fine!

I’m glad to hear that your safe and sound at your location. My heart goes out to all the others. I love Florida. I did Navy Boot Camp in Orlando (back in the 70’s when they had a base there), I did my A & B Schools in Pensacola, and I was stationed at NAS Key West. My brother-in-law and his wife live in Jacksonville. We visit them every 2 years. And they visit us in California every 2 years in-between. We thought about moving there but we still love California and it’s vicinity to Vegas. Time will tell. But we do visit Florida often. Take care, Yvette!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

It's funny how losing sessions will sometimes go on run together for a very long time. Your playing a 99.1% BP games (except when your playing 7/5) which has a theoretical loss of less than $1 per $100 played and yet I have strung together 10+ sessions where I have gotten my brains beat in and losing at a 30% clip during tht play. . The only thing to do when your in such a streak is to realize that it is random and in the long run, if you can hang on, things will get better- but it is often hard, very hard, to keep that in mind.
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker Год назад
Yes Sir, there are a lot of "mind games" going on with video poker! Matching wits against a machine that has been programmed to beat you and has an edge over you is quite the challenge. It can be frustrating at times, and at other times euphoric. But either way, when you add it all up, it sure is fun! Take care, Kirt>

What’s up with the 7/5? Are they starting to downgrade?
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker Год назад
I merely “stepped down” in the denomination in an effort to preserve the bankroll and then go back up after a good hit or two to the higher denominations. There is some 8/5 BP at 50¢ coin at Red Rock but I would have to move from this machine in the middle of a filming session, so I didn’t bother doing that. A lot of casinos have 6/5 BP on 25¢ denominations, 7/5 BP on 50¢ denominations, and 8/5 BP at the $1 coin denomination and up. Here in SoCal, all denominations (from 5¢ coin all the way through and up to the $100 coin denomination) have 8/5 BP pay tables on all machines. I’ve made $68,000 on the mid-tier 7/5 BP pay tables at casinos that only feature that pay table at all denominations, so while it isn’t optimal, it doesn’t faze me a bit on “short visits” during a session. And actually, it only matters if there are a lot of full house hits on those visits anyway.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

I was there from the 20th through the 27th. Not sure when you arrived but it would have been nice to meet you. I understand your reasoning for playing Bonus Poker especially when you are playing higher denominations. But you lost me on something: you’re playing a 7/5 game. Triple Double is 9/5. Why is that a worse game percentage-wise? Is it because it is considered a higher variation game?
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker Год назад
Thanks for commenting, Mark. When, Slotmassacre & I, first started hanging out together 2 years ago, we used to hit Vegas 1X-2X per month with Bigkats, Doc, and Curtis. That was all through the pandemic after Vegas opened back-up again and all the following year as well. I foresee that ramping up again in the future, but for this year, at least, we've all been spread out all over the place and at different times. I wasn't there on the 20th-27th while you were there. I would have gladly met with you and played some video poker with you. As for the 7/5 BP game, that is a mid-tier game and when 8/5 BP is available (usually at $1 coin & up) of course, I'll play that. But if I'm on the same machine & have to step down for a "short visit" a lower coin denomination (in an effort to conserve a diminishing bankroll) I will continue to play, even if it's 7/5 BP (on 50 cent coin). I used to play at a casino where the 7/5 BP pay table was the best pay table that they had in the place, and yet, I still won $68,000 in Royal Flushes from that casino. So I'm not all that adverse to playing the 7/5 pay table (on short visits) at such a low denominations as the 50 cent coin. I will not, however, play it on $1 coin and up. For sure, I always play 8/5 BP on High denomination coin.
