I have been in this position a few times when you don't want to dance and your friends literally drag you to the dance floor to try to force you to do it, and wow, it's a shitty thing to do. Some of us are introverts and that should be respected. I know Alex meant well - he just wanted to help Henry "loosen up" and have fun - but honestly... don't do it, people. If someone prefers not to dance, just leave them be.
I have to say it is incredibly hysterical, that the song “get low” and the line “till the sweat drop down my balls “will forever be linked to a beautiful, queer love story. 🙏😌❤️
I wonder if Get Low has gotten a bunch of air time because of this movie. I'm old enough to be Henry and Alex's dad, so Get Low wasn't a song I was familiar with. It definitely was NOT the song of my childhood. The song of my childhood was something by the band Duran Duran. Maybe you've heard of them.
This is probably my favorite scene in the movie and one I rewatch all the time. You can tell that Alex is happy to see Henry and that Henry, despite hating New Years, is happy to be there, just to spend time with Alex. That moment they share, when everyone is getting low, is special for both of them, though Alex doesn't know yet what he's feeling. After the clock strikes 12 and the ladies start kissing Alex, you can see Henry's heart break a little. But, Alex notices and calls out for Henry. If Alex didn't care, he wouldn't have noticed Henry leave and certainly wouldn't have gone to find him, wondering what he did wrong. For those that didn't read the book, Alex has been low-key obsessed with Henry for years. Even Nora points this out later. Alex doesn't know what he's feeling yet and it doesn't click for him until Henry kisses him.
The dance scene with the slow motion is inspired from another movie, i don't remember the name, maybe it's dirty dancing, but the producer shared it and it was beautiful
Im as anxious as Henry in such parties. Further, his eyes seemingly thought “there’s no chance” after the kisses is also relatable 😢 great acting from Nick
Yes! He's amazing. And what's hard to fathom is that Henry is probably super experienced when it comes to guys so he's got no problem there, but when it comes to "feelings" and a crush, as he has for Alex, he's super vulnerable. As seen here when he sees Alex with the girls and thinks, I'll never have that with him 😢
When they're sitting on the couch together having fun and Henry is totally relaxed and having fun and then suddenly that girls comes crushing and he stiffens up a bit - I felt that. So many time I've been in this situation when I'm having fun with someone and suddenly someone from their life that I don't know totally crashes the situation and messes up the dynamic and I suddenly felt like I wasn't cool enough to talk to this person. I'm so glad Alex later noticed Henry sitting there alone and came back for him.
He's so heartbroken because he knows he can't do that. A few moments later he said "People who interested me... I can't date" And he was already in love with Alex....
That moment when everyone goes down and it's just them and it's silent and then everything comes back- like, serious Pride and Prejudice 2005 Mr. Darcy-Elizabeth dance vibes
3:28 I love this part so much, the feeling of enthusiasm for New Year and the song choice created a magical scene that was beautifully contrasted by Henry's broken heart
i cant stop keep coming back to this scene, this was so well made, that moment between those two where time slowed down, the songs, alex's dance!! everything is just so good about this. a true masterpiece
The part when they appear to ascend above the dance crowd gives me the feels 😮... The choreography in this scene is amazing with no CGI... as the actors dance down while Alex and Henry connect and rise up... ahhhmazing 🤩
3:00 So so so romantic! When Henry is looking at Alex, that little twitch at the corner of his mouth is so subtle, I can really see him being enchanted by Alex and nervous at the same time
This scene is so well acted and done. Each detail is awesome. Don't judged me please, I know there are many other depper and more meaningful scenes in this movie but this one is my personal favorite. Just love the dinamics between Alex and Henry among all that people, even when Alex hadn't even come up with the realization he was also into Henry by that point yet.
This movie. Ahhhh 1:59 Henry is fidgeting with his ring again. He does it in moments of discomfort/anxiety or vulnerability. I want to, on my next re-watch of the film see how many times he does that. I can think of a few off the top of my head. When he's about to talk to the king and realizes it's on Alex's finger, he does it in the residence after their make-out scene when he's about to ask Alex to come to the polo match (worried Alex may say no), when he's about to take it off by the plane (to give to Alex)- nervous about what giving it to him might mean, and I believe also when he is talking to Alex outside KP before they have their night in Paris, when he's talking about how he's a prince to his people, and also here. So. Many. Times. He does this... love it! Love the meaning behind it because it's a constant reminder of who he is and the weight baring down on him by his royalty. Ahhh just love this film so much! I'll add to this comment upon re-watch. Add the moments you realize he does this as well!
@@kekwayblaze3176 Because the song playing at the party when Alex says: "this is the song of my childhood" is a song featured in a video game from 2004.
I felt so bad for Henry. But in the book it's more clear that it's happening only because it's a kind of new year tradition for Alex and Nora his best friend to kiss each other in that manner that's a kind of joke, in the movie it's look like Alex is very fickle, kissing litteraly every girls, lol
Dance At The Gym, where Tony and Maria first set eyes on each other.....oh yes!!!! Say it loud and there's music playing, say it soft and it's almost like praying.....
