It’s amazing how they first confess their love for each other indirectly. Alex does it by saying “the man I love has vanished from my life,” and Henry does it by saying “I can love you.” They don’t directly say the magic words “I love you” initially; they each reveal it while talking about other things.
I love how Alex goes from “Get over yourself!” at the very suggestion that he might fall in love with Henry to a tearful “the man I love has vanished from my life without an explanation!”
@@sarahkoho7794 From Casey's McQuiston's book. (This part mostly where he admits he loved Alex from the start.) “When have I ever, since the first instant I touched you, pretended to be anything less than in love with you? Are you so fucking self-absorbed as to think this is about you and whether or not I love you, rather than the fact I’m an heir to the fucking throne? You at least have the option to not choose a public life eventually, but I will live and die in these palaces and in this family, so don’t you dare come to me and question if I love you when it’s the thing that could bloody well ruin everything.” Alex doesn’t speak, doesn’t move, doesn’t breathe, his feet rooted to the spot. Henry isn’t looking at him, but staring at a point on the mantel somewhere, tugging at his own hair in exasperation. “It was never supposed to be an issue,” he goes on, his voice hoarse. “I thought I could have some part of you, and just never say it, and you’d never have to know, and one day you’d get tired of me and leave, because I’m-” He stops short, and one shaking hand moves through the air in front of him in a helpless sort of gesture at everything about himself. “I never thought I’d be stood here faced with a choice I can’t make, because I never … I never imagined you would love me back.”
He loved Alex from the beginning but never expected Alex to love him back. It's like heartbreaking and beautiful I cried. Casey McQuiston wrote a beautiful love story. Just happens I love the movie a little bit more. Just wish they had added more of Henry's speech from the book.
@@Robaxca I do think Alex was a bit lovestruck and blinded to the Henry's struggles. It was all rainbow and sunshine for Alex until Henry's outburst pulled him back into reality.
LOL omg. everytime i see this scene where henry says "wait, there's something i want you to see".....i just keep picturing him showing him the front door and locking it behind him.
Alex left heartbroken but before that he stole one of Henry's shirt He went to Mexico and was killed in a homophobic brawl. Henry went to visit Alex's parents to pay his condolence. He went to Alex's room and saw his own shirt inside Alex's shirt and he took them home.
He's fed up with his public life and Alex means more public life, in his case in politics, while he wants to be an anonymous person in Paris and be a writer. Not coward. It's selfpreservation dear. He says it clearly. Then again, with an Alex one can, and he does in the end, succumb
Yep. It’s the reality of life. When u grow up with everything u need you choose not to give it up for love. It’s convenient. It’s easier to be called a coward than have nothing at all. These series are romanticizing everything😂😂
@@Traveler-30 It's a movie, not a series so my guess is you haven't watched it and you're confused. Also I wonder what you would know of royal duties and discretion. Henry is GAY. It's NOT about giving up confort but to choose being tied up for being a royal or tied up for being with a politician. He's a gay man that has had to supress any gay infatuation or affection because of his public status. He's tired of it. Besides he would NEVER have nothing at all. These people always have resources, look at Harry's mansion and lifestyle.
@@bcnmanhattan5022 henny loves Alex e need stop let everyone tell him he cant loves alex he can give up his heir be with alex i wish another guy girl into alex make henny jealous and realises he cant live without him i was os happy they stay together why will henny be jelaous he alex with another guy or woman ??.
Not cowardly to want to protect your heart, which is what he was doing, btw. To love and want someone as much as Henry loves and wants Alex, his heart was breaking because he couldnt have it. Or thought he couldn't have it. He was only protecting himself.
