Refried beans made with lard in the Instant Pot. Easy to make & super delicious! You can easily make these beans on the stove top if you don't have a pressure cooker.
Hey TJ!.... refried beans are really delicious super easy to make thanks for sharing my brother. You and the family have a great week and stay safe out there.Cheers!
Wow, TJ, those refried beans look great! Thanks for sharing that the hand held blender was hard to clean. Sometimes, it seems that trying to save time or effort just creates more work later haha I like that you sauteed the spices--that should really bring out the flavor. You are right that beans thicken as they cool and soak up water, so thanks for the tip about making them slightly runnier than you want. Thanks for a great video about this "magical fruit" haha!
Turns out that refried beans are pretty fun to make. The most difficult part was only making one fart reference in the whole video 😀. Thanks for watching!
I do enjoy a good refried beans, you did a great job my brother! I dig the lard usage, more authentic! Its better to have too much water then not enough. Great job!
Even as watery as these looked they did thicken up even before I was able to take some photos. The first time I made these, they dried up so much I could use a knife & fork. Thanks Dude, have a great week!
It is pretty easy. Takes a little time for the beans to cook but other than that it is totally worth it compared to the canned stuff. Thanks for watching!
Culinary Undertaking oh yes, I’m sure it tastes so much better than the canned stuff. Just another question: Is there an alternative to replace lard? I don’t eat pork and actually never knew it had lard in it 😝
@@WeaveTheStory Just about any fat should work in place of lard. I almost used some duck fat that I had but decided to keep it traditional. Butter, margarine, beef tallow, or most cooking oils (olive, avocado, coconut, corn, peanut...) should also work. I have personally only used lard so I can not say for sure which substitute would taste the best but I doubt any would overpower the beans. I hope this helps & thanks for the great question. Let me know if you make these and which fat you use and if it turns out well.
Oh yea I love refried beans, in fact I have to get a recipe out myself. They taste so good, and like you said they're CHEAP! They're so filling too, and yours look really good TJ. I wanted to let know I checked on the messages, and I didn't see any unanswered. 😃😃
Something is messed up with my RU-vid. I get responses from some comments but not others. I have no response from your last 2 video comments that I made. It's no big deal, I just want to make sure you get my comments so that you know I'm still watching all of your vids. Hopefully RU-vid gets on the ball soon. Anyways, thanks for watching & checking your messages.
@@CulinaryUndertaking Absolutely, I've had some problems myself lately. No notifications, loss of views and now this. I seriously hope they get it fixed 😃
I love refried beans, especially with any tex mex I make at home!! Let's support each other as we grow! I'm Brad your newest fan and I hope to see you soon!
Well, I app-lard your effort. Some puns just escape the mind like the result of eating magical fruit. I know, I know, fart jokes are the bottom rung of punning but there you have it.
looks good, i think a good substitute would be beef tallow if a person can not have lard or pork product, just saying if someone has health or religious restrictions
That's true. I'm sure almost any fat would work: avocado oil, butter, margarine, olive oil, duck fat, etc... I used lard since it is the traditional way. Thanks for watching!
