Regal/UA Greenwood Plaza 12 - Englewood, CO - Mid 1990's

The Greenwood Plaza 12 was the premiere theater in the Denver area for many years. Lots of new technology would be tested there and installed before other UA theaters got it. 25% of the 12 auditoriums were equipped for 70mm. The place was full of awesome at the time. This is a tour with a handheld Hi8 camcorder. Hi8 was considered high end in the mid-90's. You had to be rich to even dream of owning one. Fortunately, I was rich... I worked for UA after all!

Man - I loved running that booth's Thursday night build-up / breakdown between 2005-2010. Nothing had really changed except #5 went digital. Since I left in 2010, I think it's all digital now. No other major renovations since the change to Stadium Seating in early 2000s / Late 90s. I have to wonder if their lease is up in 2017? With regal buying the Hollywood theater chain and now have their location at Southglenn mall, it may be very reasonable to think Greenwood Plaza might get closed. If not, they should be renovating again to the reserved seating recliners like they did for Park Meadows and Pavilions.

Joe Redifer! Master film handler! I took one of his training programs where he taught me you could fold 70mm in half if you only have 35mm equipment. He's just amazing!

From movie palaces to mega plexes. The last time I went to the movies there was a total of 4 people watching the show. Theaters can't compete with TV, computers and the handheld device you are seeing this caustic comment on.

Sadly, this place is closed now, although the writing was on the wall for a while. One of the best places to work during the time period shown in this video, before the theater-building blitz began in the south metro area and effectively poached all the business away from it.

I was asst managing over at the Cooper 7 at the time. I always loved the Greenwood Plaza. Actually took my wife there on our first date to see Jurassic Park.

I wonder how it is today? All replaced with Digital Cinema and perhaps a RPX auditorium?

Regal, I think. Regal took over UA in 2002 and so most UA's are Regals but there are a few UA theaters still around.

+Tyler Nersinger How we had to answer the phone until I left in 2010: "Regal Entertainment Group's United Artist Greenwood Plaza 12" They haven't undergone a branding change yet like Park Meadows and Continental has. Perhaps with the acquisition of the Southglenn theater from Hollywood Theaters, they may let Greenwood go soon....

about the movie trailer at 4:46, what movie is it for?
@sirstewartwallace7874

ThePoreproductions I can't find it but the dialogue does reflect an actual recall in April 1997. I was thinking The Truman Show and Small Soldiers but neither matched.
