It's really heartening to see The Doors members go from being super skeptical on working with Skrillex to being totally into it once the song comes together. They had a lot more in common than they thought. Great music transcends generations!
Jesus is lord. Repent of your sins, be born again, and turn to him to be saved from Hell! Turn away from all your sins before its too late. I love you and God loves you🙏🏼❤️
I love how they listen to his creation, then pretty much have the melody in their heads already, they just have to start ironing it out. What an incredible experience for Skrillex to have been able to work with his idols. Incredible track, made a little eerie by the fact that Morrison predicted the style of Skrillex's music 40 years earlier.
It's amazing how Sonny gets along with these old time musicians and how they end up jamming together and enjoying it, though the genres are so different. EPIC! Great video, great song!
i never really listened/liked their (doors) music, but i still have infinate respect towards them. may he rest in peace. youre lucky skrillex that you got to work with him :)
I used to be into skrillex when I was younger (the usual dubstep phase) but I grew more interest into indie and then now 60s rock as I’m 17 and the doors really are amazing and I just l started listening a month ago. Each member from the doors have so much talent and skill and contribution to today’s music and pushing the boundaries in rock with organ(ray manzerek) the ghostly poem vocals (Jim Morrison) blues guitar(Robby Krieger) and amazing drummer (John desmore). One last thing I’d like to share. The organist Ray plays two keyboards which plays bass piano and organ at once, like having 2 brains. It’s truly astonishing seeing these two artists come together to make this masterpiece. Just wanted to share about the doors and maybe you can look into them sometime :)
Music is something to be created and enjoyed by whoever likes it. There is no such thing as "real" music or "real" musicians as long as the music evokes an emotional response from those listening to it. Some want to get "amped"(dub, metal), some "chill"(jazz), some just like the lyrics to a song because they can relate to them. Skrillex(Sonny) did what every musician does; imagine sounds and make them reality with whatever talent and equipment you have at hand. Then hope someone likes it.
They know the music is not to what they're usually surrounded by or better yet interested in. You guys need to think that when you're in the music industry for that long, these guys know that from the beginning when they became 'The Doors' that music will eventually evolve slowly but surely. You think the music that they were playing wasn't different from what people were listening to when they were just kids? Of course not, but they came in, and became a power house of what we call classic rock today. I can't disagree with you that when they listened to what Skrillex has created before, they were seemingly baffled and startled by it. Though, they know anything can be music and just a simple scratch of anything can be created into something. I for one love that 'The Doors' came in and provided their knowledge and intuition of the matter to collaborate different genres of music from different backgrounds, eras, and familiarity into something that works.
I had no idea he worked with The Doors for the longest time! And 14:21The Doors hadn't made a record together in more than 30 years. Holy Shit--perfect collaboration. Do more guys! Do more collaborations!
Thank you for putting your opinion across in an unbiased and respectful way. I'd never really listened to The Doors before I heard this collaboration but this song definitely pushed me onto them. I guess in a way it's a kind of beautiful justice.
I would love to hear a longer version that used *everything*, including the stuff skrillex played at the start that's different from the released song, and the full guitar/keyboard parts that don't show up in the song either. I'd be tempted to try to make it myself cutting up this video but the audio quality isn't nearly good enough, and i'm pretty bad at fixing audio correctly.
lol bless his heart. Ray listening to what was already done and u could see on his face nu uh lol and then he said well lets go back to square 1. Robbie grooving to it. And John...idk what is up. They not get along? so sad. but overall product is awesome and i hope it opens younger peeps to go listen to the Doors
It was mainly underground in the USA for a long time because there was no Internet and the USA is so big. During the early 90's I was one of the few people involved with EDM. In those days it was impractical to discuss EDM with the average listener. Almost none of them would have known what I was talking about.
Yes, that's right. I used to listen to dance mixes on an Orlando radio station over the weekend nights. That was the only time one could hear dance music. The rest of the week it was just top 40 tunes. Some of the older generations are stuck in the past with rock. They still have idea what EDM is.
his main DAW (digital audio workshop) is ableton, he uses the plugins FM8 (For Growls), Massive (For growls), Sylenth, Melodyne, Gladiator, Kontakt, and a few others that i dont remember
I'm not crazy about Skrillex but this guy was arguably the last guy to succeed in bringing the Doors back together for the last time, so for that, respect.
I'm a producer. Skrillex motivated me to move into the house/dubstep production. I am not part of the mainstream 'movement' with Skrillex, I just listen to his stuff every once in awhile. That does not make me a gay emo. It's not right to judge others based on some music.
it makes sense if you think about it, they're talking about the whole over-all-broadest genre of music thats gonna be the future, and you can't deny its both dub step and electronic music =]
magic! awesome! there's no words I could say! there are so many people that doesn't like skrillex's music but they have to admit that he reunites the elite of the music. sounds easy but... bah! they are THE DOORS! the gods of music!
Music is all about creation! If you stay still you die... Morrison is a LEGEND but right now this is the new wave! I'm sure that Morrison would never agree with this move but i like that the old and the new styles are combined here!
I think it's beautiful when artists can create a unique cohesion between two entirely different genre's! The Doors = Legends. Skrillex = Phenom.... What a beautiful mistakenly odd concoction! LOVE LIFE!
i hate rigid people. i couldn't live a day like that! i appreciate everything. i hate how people say that things outside of their comfort zone have no value and dismiss them and act like they can't learn anything from it. it's really my biggest pet peeve with humanity.
Skrillex is a cool guy. I was not aware of his existence. I also did not know of this collaboration until I shared our new recreation to a big doors friend Jim Wall
This is Epic story, respect for idea to show how it's made. I bow down in front of all of theese ppl. Respect ! I love Jazz, Blues, Dub - Step, Classic ... Jesus, I Love Music. !
"i think the future of music may be like... one man with machines doing everything" - jim morrison. i dont think he'd mind being a part of his prediction
oh my god, finaly theres someone on youtube that can respect the fact that people have differant music tastes and's not just bitching about that everyone els is wrong and they are the ceneter of the universe
so funny to see dance music being so big and fairly accepted now in the States, in Europe it caught on in the late 80's early 90's, roughly 20 years ago. The only place for the Chicago and Detroit House/Techno musicians was Europe back then. Now all the big european dance producers have moved to America to catch the new wave and business opportunities there.
Ok Skrillex was just way ahead of this time Look at this generation producers even they can make some insane shit but still they can have what Skrillex used to have
