In this video, I share my personal experience of being rejected for permanent residency in Singapore and delve into the reasons behind it. With over four years of living in Singapore, a stable job in the IT industry, and a strong integration into the local community, I thought my chances were good. However, the rejection letter left me reflecting on possible reasons for my rejection.
One possibility is that it’s still too soon for me to apply, coming from France. Perhaps, more time is needed for me to adapt to the local culture. Another reason could be the limited number of spots available for PR each year, especially for individuals from Europe. With the current circumstances, I had hoped that fewer people applying during COVID-19 would increase my chances, but it seems that’s not the case.
Looking at my profile, I realize that there are areas I can improve on for my next application. Having family ties in Singapore could make the process easier, but I don’t want to rush into marriage just for PR. Career-wise, I can aim for a higher position or consider changing my industry to align with Singapore’s high-demand sectors. Increasing my contributions to local charities or volunteering my time could also demonstrate a stronger commitment to the community. Additionally, having more investments and assets in Singapore would show my long-term commitment to the country. Although I’m disappointed with the rejection, I am determined to continue applying and exploring ways to enhance my profile for future applications.
While some applicants choose to seek help from agencies, I prefer to navigate the process myself, at least for now. However, if I face repeated rejections, I may consider seeking professional advice.
To all those who are applying for PR or have faced rejection, I wish you the best of luck. Don’t lose hope, and keep trying. Success may just be around the corner.
