Don't mind if i tell a small joke. My Chinese Singaporean friend went to France 30 years ago for vacation. He spoke to the subway staff and asked for some information. The French staff refused to speak English (and I was told that French are very proud of their language) and he replied in French. My friend was totally clueless on what he said. He suddenly thought of an idea. He spoke to the staff in Mandarin and the staff could not understand a word. The staff unintentionally and with no choice - switched to English. Mission accomplished.
That "uwu" bird is actually male Koel bird's mating call and they are irritating AF! I mean like if no female respone after calling for so long, get the hint!
Sacré bleu! Wah lau eh, "clean bug board", can buy 4D liao 😂 Honestly, the clean bug board on a Friday was the most shocking thing to me. Bugs have a tendency to surface on Friday 4.45pm, or on weekends.
I was assaulted & robbed in Paris during my first week there & lost all my baggage on the last day during checking into the airport hotel. I hate Paris..
Hi Amandine, au top la video, très intéressante. I’m also French and my girlfriend Singaporean, I hope I’ll be able to join her and move there for good soon. From my few trips there already I pretty much agree with all your points
@faryalalam7730 There are courses which you can use your SkillsFuture credits if you want to break into tech. You might not necessarily go into software engineering, but there are other roles available too, which rely on people, communication and organizational skills. There are also sales related roles too. On a side note, there are websites like Glassdoor if you want to know the range of salaries for a position and company reviews. In the future, if I may suggest, you can ask about compensation packages in a private message. I think Amandine @NewtoSingapore was pretty nice and open, but asking publicly about compensation is often tricky.
@@RyanTeo oops sorry. Don't get me wrong, but I really like Amandine. I watch her vlogs. They are interesting, informative and she presents herself nicely.
Don't really understand why Amandine would apply for Singapore PR. At the end of the day, France is a better country to work, raise a family, retire. There really is no contest between the two....
That's not my point of view - everyone likes different things and looks forward to other things in life! For example, I find working in Singapore more interesting and challenging!
@@NewtoSingapore When you get older you will understand what I'm talking about. I grew up in Singapore and love it to bits. In fact I would love to move back for a while. Are there industries/companies where Singapore is at the cutting edge like France? France has quite a few multinationals that have cutting edge technology. I can't think of any in Singapore....That's why most STEM graduates in Singapore end up in finance. As a French citizen, if you don't like France you can easily move to other EU countries. I have a French friend who moved to Denmark, and is doing R & D in offshore wind. With a Singapore passport or PR status you cannot easily move to say Korea or Japan....
@@NewtoSingapore Yes "ROJAK" is local salad of mixed fruits and vegetables with a sweet and sour sause. "Rojak" in Malay means mixed. Local people will using this word ROJAK to make short conversations like when mixed marriage or mixed blood children or you got bad accident or your car fully damage they use " ROJAK " 😄 Face reaction: things damage "finish rojak😏😕" mix blood: " I'm rojak" 😁🙂. So most "Asian" not only in Sg they like to or use to speak english mixing with their mother tongue✌🏼👍🏻
Cold water "solidifies the oil", when I realized that I stopped drinking cold water right after eating something oily! And feel way better! Everything makes sense!
The tickets for rehearsals are given to students who go to government schools or the elderly from old folks homes and stuff like that so one way to go with them is to volunteer to help with those outings 😅 usually you have to be a parent of one of those students but sometimes it's still possible.
I got lucky once, my boyfriend worked at the organization 2/3 years ago so it got ticket for us! Best time ever! Otherwise as a foreigner, you would never get this chance really!
Amadine, drinking hot soup prior to a meal as we can see are in Chinese and Japanese cusine. This is one of the way to kind of expand the stomach for food. Drink cold water contracts the stomach. As we age, cold water is not advisable for the body. Japese Restaurant here server very Hot and cold tea, we can ask for luke warm. :)
Hi Amandine I have been living in Europe for 45 years... Singapore is a great place to live..... safe clean and foodie...... Europe is fading....not safe drug users and dealers are everywhere and lots of crime....😢😢😢😢😢
@@Ccb88888 Every place in the world has good and bad, at the moment, Europe is going through a tough period - especially politically! That doesn't mean that the scenery and the life there are not to be experienced ^^
I've always been interested in Singapore as a country at least to visit. I already speak some English so the language part is no problem. The strict laws I have to learn so I won't get into trouble.
If you are a normal citizen and not a hooligan, you should not have an issue with the laws in Singapore! Wishing you a good time when you get to visit!
@@NewtoSingapore High costs of living, stressful, poor work life balance, cars and housing are very expensive. Foreigners enjoy cheap public transport. Food is comparatively cheap to most foreigners.
@@steventay5834 Both foreigners and locals suffer from the high cost of living, the same for housing and the price of cars. Concerning the poor work-life balance, it's not depending on your status but the work culture of your company. Both foreigners and locals can enjoy the affordable public transport and the food 🤷♀
You can share your expenditure, but it is not advisable to share your own salary with others, I don't think Singaporean would like to share the salary too.
i found ur channel ard the same time as my move to sg abt 16 mos. ago & it’s been so fun seeing how similar our experiences are! especially since i’m dating a sgrean as well 🥹 u seem very lovely in person, hope to connect w u in the near future amandine ❣️
Bonjour . Getting PR approved is much harder these days . I know of a Malaysian Chinese who has been here for 15 years and has tried for the past few years without success . There is the political and economical side to it . However , if you truly like this country , you may want to try again but not too soon . Give it a 2 years rest before you try again . Meantime , try to integrate into society by joining local activities , helping out with a couple of local charities and if you are good in sports , join a local women's team . Naturally , marrying a local is a big plus but not an absolute necessity . Good luck .
Yes, I think it's natural anyway to integrate more with the community as you spend more time. If one is motivated and want to spend his time in Singapore, it will eventually happen 🤷♀️
Hello, from what I've heard, if you have waited for a long period, it's possible that it's a good news, you might have to wait just a bit longer to know!
