So from rubbernecking a bunch of groups... there really is a rather strong current of seeing the constitution as divinely inspired, so questioning an interpenetration of it is akin to questioning the bible and thus their religion. In a creepier direction, some groups tie it all together with 'prophecy', so it gets interwoven with modern prophets and their belief that some 'good christian' is just about to take the US back from the 'globalists' (read : jews) and bring about a state that god will be proud of for the end times.

There's a reason the Roman Catholic Church opposed translating the Bible into texts that non-clergy could read. It's the same reason that they opposed mass printing of the Bible following the invention of the printing press. As a Christian and as a researcher I find it's a good idea to read the whole "chapter and verse" to get the full meaning. It has also always seriously perturbed me why these so-called ministers like to truncate quotes from their version of the Bible leaving out the important details that give depth to their quote or shows how they are misusing the quote.

I like to engage with conservatives online, and after Roe v Wade got axed they really stopped dancing around what they mean. Previously many would act like they want freedom for all religions, now they are pretty comfortable just saying, "We just mean our religion, the official American one."
