I was 21 when this came out and already a rabid Zep fan, having all the albums on vinyl. But this release spurred me to get it, being my first CDs, and my first CD player. I went to a nearby mall, hit the record store and bought this box set, and with that under my arm, hit the Sony store a few doors down and bought a 5-disc carousel CD player. After getting home and setting it up, I loaded all four discs and hit play. That was a good afternoon!
Brief follow up: those two purchases probably constituted a sizable chunk of my bi-weekly paycheck as an apprentice electrician at the time, though there was almost certainly enough left over to pick up a case of beer, amongst other things, on the journey home. Did I mention it was a good afternoon?🙂
Your voice takes it over the top bro. Thanks for your vision in production of such grand music!!! I made there last show in Oakland July 24such a sad day for my zeppelin.o well i was there in one form or another.later mate. Devo on the block.
When the "pizza box" came out, I was 19 and I was only familiar with 1/2 of Zep's material. My friend worked at the local mall and got a discount for himself. It felt like a clandestine drug deal when I gave him the money in the car to go and bring me the treasure. I still continue to enjoy it. Loved how the order was mixed up because it gave the listener multiple surprises. No guessing what would happen next, unless you read the tracklisting.
Clandestine it sounds hehe. I can picture the whole scene. Yeah, listening to this running order is a world of surprises. Sometimes i spend hours making alternate playlists on Spotify, but it's not the same as the CD experience! Thank you very much for watching!
About 15 years ago with vinyl seemingly on the road to extinction, I sold my collection of 70s/80s/90s albums for peanuts. All the Zeppelin records went, including my four-album Remasters boxed set. 15 years on and after watching your excellent doc - a big regret!
Sorry to hear that! But hey, we have digital resources now for endless listening. I will admit i don't play my physical media that much! Thank you very much for watching, hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
I was at Robert's Manic Nirvana concert in Orlando on October 21,1990. Still have the ticket stub. That album almost sounds like Zep in some ways, and is one of my favorites.
This is where Zeppelin began for me. I remember being 10 years old and seeing that TV commercial on MTV all the time, I knew their names before I had heard the songs. Then when I was 14, around the time of unleded, I got the poor man's remaster from a pawn shop. Then my dad made me a tape of LZI and no quarter, that LZI side convinced me to play guitar.
You're the man. I love these. At 21:15, I remember that doc. It's here on YT. The early 90's was a great time. Led Zep re-issuing albums and lots of other great music. The X was great as well! What a time to be a teenager 🙂
Great documentary again JCM 👍 i remember when the remasters came out and the incredible buzz surrounding the band again! The MTV documentary was a revelation when i watched the Seattle '77 footage my jaw hit the floor! ACTUAL moving pictures of the band performing live in '77 must've watched it a million times! Also i think Jimmy's 2nd solo album ended up as the coverdale page project. can't wait for next episode 👏👏
I saw the documentary but well, quite later in life, i had the same reaction as you hehe. I was LIKE OMG, THERE'S MORE STUFF! Glad you enjoyed this very special episode. Thank you very much for watching. Hope you've catched Episode 3 on Coverdale Page. Stay tuned for Episode 4 on the Making of Fate of Nations!
I remember when this box set came out and listening to Hey Hey What Can I do. I had all their albums but listening to that new track for me felt like Zeppelin had just dropped a new song. Great stuff!
Have both the vinyl and cd boxes.. nothing better on a cold rainy winter Sunday then to dive into this set with a pot of tea and a bag of doughnuts 🍩… Heaven…😊
This boxset was my introduction to Zeppelin. I remember seeing the commercial on KTLA on Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t till 93 when I got my hands on the 3rd disk of the interview. I remember listening to that disc and it’s short song clips. I ended up ordering from Colombia House or BMG the four CD boxset. Still have them!
Nice documentary! I have the 4-CD version. The booklet itself is worth it and, of course, more music. It fits nicely next to my YES 4-CD compilation YESYEARS, which came out shortly after. Both brilliant in every way. I still have and enjoy both
YesYears was a great set, thanks for reminding about it, i know a friend who had it, maybe i will pay him a visit! Thank you very much for watching, hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
I remember getting the LZ Boxed Set for Christmas the first year it was released. ‘91 ?? I was so excited because of “Traveling Riverside Blues” and “Hey Hey What can I do” My dad bought me LZ 1,2 & 4 CDs in 1987 at age 15. Then I later bought PG, HotH, 3, Presence, ITTOD, coda in that order over the next 3 years. In HIgh School certain people thought I was weird because LZ was pretty much all I listened to. My dad had bought LZ1 in 1969 (he was 17 or 18). I always liked his story about buying it from the album rack simply because all 4 guys on the back of the cover had long hair. He gets it home and half way through Good Times Bad Times he stops it to go call all of his friends. 3-4 of his friends come over and they’re all absolutely blown away by LZ1. The heaviest music they’d ever heard. Good thing they had long hair. Oddly enough my dad didn’t really get into the next 8 albums so much. I remember by 1988-89 he had my double cassette Physical Graffiti and he loved The Rover and The Wanton Song. Seeing that orange boxed set cover stirred some Zeppelin memories I guess.
It came out late October 1990. Was put on display in every record store during the Christmas shopping season. Was 15 at the time; only thing folks my age bought was The Simpons Sing The Blues, Vanilla Ice's To The Extreme and Heart's Brigade. I got Rush's ATWAS and Jimi Hendrix Concerts, both on cassette. Why do I remember this so well? Had Christmas break off school, girlfriend's folks were at work all day, so we got it down and she finally started making some real girl butter, now referred to as "grool".
@ezsmith3765 Ah yes. Married her school pal years later; 25 years and two kids on. Still like the Orange Box, though. It's a big mixture of the right stuff, artwork is good and by the time all the other compilations came out, I already had that stuff on their original albums...the 2014/2015 edition are exception because of the extra content. But, the Orange Box is my Zep-mix go to after all this time. Rock on.
Glad the Orange cover brought back memories, it has a strong presence, the box set would always stand out in record stores. So cool you and your dad shared the Zeppelin passion. A GREAT BOND. Strangely enough, my uncle, who led me to Zeppelin, wasn't that much of a 1973-1980 fan, he didn't like Graffiti when it came out, to this day he's not a fan imagine. Thank you for watching! Episode 3 and 4 are out now. Stay tuned for Episode 5 Premieres July 29th.
Excellent as usual. I gotta say I had two boxes over the course of my life, if I still had em, I’d have sent ya one. Although I did use the 2nd ones booklet to take the centerfold out and hang it over my bed when I was like 15, and did take the picture from the Bath Festival in ‘70 and hung that up too. Nowadays I have a giant LZ I cover poster framed in my bedroom, and a Jimmy Page 1975 Earl’s Court framed shot on my favorite guitarists wall in my living room. I don’t know how my wife puts up with me! 😂 Anyways back on topic, as I said I had the set, and it was one that I loved. Even though I had the studio albums, and Coda, there was just something about putting that set on late in the middle of the night during the Summer time while I played Super Mario World in my room. Great times indeed. I can’t wait for the next video, sir! Thanks again for these wonderful documentaries on one of my top 5 favorite bands ever!!!
Thank you for sharing your perspectives of Zepp, that 1975 poster sounds really cool hehe. I like the Box Set's running order a lot, really. Glad you enjoyed this very special episode. Thank you very much for watching. Stay tuned for Episode 4 on the Making of Fate of Nations!
Awesome episode! I was dissapointed with the first zep cds' (the sound was really 'muddy and bassy')....played back to back with the remasters set (not the poor man's one-hah!)..much cleaner!!!!!! thanks again JCM :)
I was 14 when the box set came out but finances and a recession prevented me from getting it. Luckily a friend of mine who was in my Guitar Ensemble class my Freshman Year of High School being 1990/91 made me a dub of the box set on FOUR 90 Minute cassettes. Plus I had mastered playing the drums by then and in my guitar class I played with Seniors who introduced me to Zep bootlegs and we called ourselves Band of Joy and they taught me some of the live arrangements and the fact I played like a cross between John Bonham and Neil Peart of Rush (and looked like the short haired/clean shaven version of Neil from 1987 forward) and I wish I still had the recordings we did on stage at my High School. I remember the first time we played The Rover/Sick Again and at the sudden stop my drumsticks flew out of my hands and we started laughing and then I had to start again and played without fail.
I got this box set mainly because of the booklet that came with it. I already had every Zep album (many times over and many forms...CD, album, cassettes).....what it proved to those who cared back then.....was Zep was the greatest band ever. Back then, you had your AC/DC camp, your Floyd camp, your Kiss camp, etc. etc. etc. etc. That box set was 4 greatest hits CDs. No other rock band could do that.
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories My best friend was into AC/DC, I was into Zep. We argued all the time! But back then, it was more of an Angus vs Eddie vs Page vs (fill in the blank) for your favorite guitarist. The "guitar god" was a very big thing in the 70s and 80s. Hard to be a supergroup without one of those gods. Riffs ruled. And then the glam bands came with tons and tons of incredible shredders....far too many to list. I mean a TON of them. Plus all the Plant clones, singing so high pitched that dogs howled. You would have loved it back then, judging by your outstanding playing now! You did right by putting down the video games and picking up the guitar. I wish I did that!
Malcolm Young was a better rhtyhm player than Eddie but that's just me. Don"t tell anyone! Hehe. Man the guitar thing over video games was just the power of Zepp. Sometimes i think of what if i followed video games and coding you know? Economic thoughts...
Man, my buddies & I in 7th grade could recite the Led Zeppelin commercial word for word…I still can at 45…it was on all the time on every channel back then…we didn’t even know who they were but I was intrigued…I asked for a Led Zeppelin CD for Christmas & the next year I got Led Zeppelin IV…my first CD ever & what a one to have (second was LL Cool Jay Mama Said Knock You Out)…I eventually got the poor man’s Zeppelin box set & listened to their tapes on my Walkman every time I mowed the lawn…special place in my heart during this time being so impressionable & cutting my teeth on the most legendary rock band ever..I was in good hands!
Ease up JCM😆 I was 15 when and I had poor man’s remasters as my dad got it for me for Xmas. I had all the other albums and was already a big fan. To be honest I didn’t know about the big box set until a year later. Awesome video as usual and dancing days is fun to play on guitar and a good song.
I got the 4 CD box that Christmas, I was 10 and just getting into them. I was getting more into music and playing the drums, I used to play along to LZ a lot. Your take on Disc 3 is right on, I played along to that one the most. Good pacing for breathers, water breaks, etc. I always thought it was weird to put Dancing Days in the middle too. As far as Disc 2, i hate the quick fade out on Hey Hey. I' think its an alright lil song, but I like how it falls apart at the end a little bit, for me that was part of its charm. I work at a used record store, I'll keep an eye out for disc 4! Once again, spot on job with the video.
Glad to know we think alike hehe. Man Dancing Days is just so weird there hehe. The quick fade on Hey Hey yeah...it's a bummer. You work at a used record store? Oh man that's so cool, if you see a copy of In Through The Out Door let me know, i have 43 copies and counting hehe! Thank you for tuning in! Stay tuned for Episode 3! Premieres this coming Saturday July 15th!
I had and enjoyed all the albums in the worst selling list, my favorite was Tyr by Sabbath, one of their most underrated albums. As far as the box set, when I was 12 in 1990 it properly introduced me to Zeppelin beyond the big radio hits. In 93 I got the 2CD box set 2 that had every studio track not on the first box set.
You know, i haven't heard TYR really, like in depth, i will check it our for some. Glad you bough the 2CD set, i have the very same one :) Thank you very much for watching! Stay Tuned for Episode 5 going back to 1993!
Once again my friend, perfect analysis of disc 3. Perfect, I don’t mind the track in but agreed that’s the best one overall with or without Dancing Days.
Dancing Days i enjoy the live versions or the rough mix, but man, the studio version on Houses i can't stand, the EQ is harsh, highs are way too high. I've tried to like it hehe. Thank you very much for watching. Hope you've catched Episode 3 on Coverdale Page. Stay tuned for Episode 4 on the Making of Fate of Nations!
😂lol! You couldn’t trust her with the CD ROM so you ran!! Awesome! Love it. So true. Jose, awesome breakdown of the remasters song list. Very cool analysis. I can’t decide where I stand with Dancing Days. I think I’m good with it. Not sure if D’yer M’aker was on that but that’s my least fave Zep tune. I remember that MTV Zep Weekend! I recorded the whole weekend on VHS tapes! That’s when I saw and heard Traveling Riverside Blues for the first time! I was blown away. Love that song. Excellent episode man!! Can’t wait for Unleaded!!!!!!!😮😊❤
Man i was freaked out the minute i saw a CD-R...it made me think about a future together and how she didn't value history lol. Dancing Days i can enjoy LIVE versions of the rough mix, it's just the EQ on the final version what really bothers me! At leats D'yer Ma'ker has GREAT sounding drums you now?
This episode is hitting on my first introduction to Led Zeppelin. That TV commercial for the box set really served as my own personal preview of what I would discover a short while later. It ran pretty heavily for a period of at least 6 months, so whenever it popped on, even if I wasn't looking at the TV but just hearing it, I instantly knew what the commercial was for before the "LED ZEPPELIN IS BACK" line. Initially I wasn't too keen on discovering Led Zeppelin for myself, but a couple of things changed that. First, a friend I made in my sophomore year of high school was a big fan of metal, but he was also a HUGE Led Zeppelin fan. At the time, I had recently discovered Bad Company, and he would make fun of me for liking such a "soft" band up until I showed him my copy of their debut album, and he noticed the Swan Song label. Shortly after that, he purchased the Led Zeppelin box set and was reading the booklet and noticed mentions of Bad Company in it. His teasing about me liking the band ceased after that. The second thing that really spurred my interest was in the fact that it was essentially forbidden music in my household. Whenever the LZ box set commercial ran, my parents also expressed a sigh of disapproval about it. I grew up in a strict Baptist church and attended the private school, and listening to rock music was strictly forbidden. Since I was well into my rebellious phase of my teenage years, naturally that made me want to seek out stuff that was forbidden to see for myself what all the fuss was about. What was an even bigger push, though, was due to the environment I grew up in, my parents made sure to expose me to plenty of Fundamentalist Christian material on the dangers of rock music, which in my case consisted of several books and documentary videos that I watched both at home and at school. Naturally, Led Zeppelin was one of the most prominent groups featured in all of them, as they pretty much hit all of the main categories of why good little Christians shouldn't listen to rock music: sex, drugs, and plenty of satanism. Man, those videos introduced me to all kinds of good music.... Anyway, sorry for this length, rambling comment. This episode certain brings back some old memories, and it looks like the next one is going to kick them into full gear. Excellent work as always!
I used to have this box set I'm not sure if I still do I need to check, but I still do have the CDs and their cases. There's also another remaster of all the albums just a few years later with the sound even better, and more in recent years Page remastered everything again and they also sound great
Great episode!!! Love that you use the picture, glad you got a kick out of it. Still have the the CD box set but still need a vinyl copy. They are hard to find and not cheap anymore.
Vance your picture really worked wonders. Thank you so much for sharing it really :) Hey i hope the party was great last night, good to see you have fun!
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories thanks !! if you need anything else let me know pictures of records CDs or ticket stubs programs if I have it I will send the pic.
I'll sure do. Man i don't know how i am gonna edit the Plant Page tours, there is so much stuff, like taking water from the ocean hahaha, do you have a favorite or favorite tracks by them live?,
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories the fact that they played songs they never did on Zeppelin tours like Hey Hey What can I Do or The Wanton Song were treats. I like the revamped Unledded versions of songs too. Sad to say I do not give Walking to Clarksdale much listens anymore I need to play it more.
Thank YOU very much for watching and for your Donation, i really appreciate it. Hope you've catched Episode 3 on Coverdale Page. Stay tuned for Episode 4 on the Making of Fate of Nations!
Another excellent episode with the signature JCM, the master craftsman. I must confess to you that I don't usually buy many albums, I have a great collection of Zeppelin stuff but they are copies. My late uncle, who was a sound engineer, used all his extensive experience and perfect equipment to reproduce all my father's albums on CDs and gave them to me - but he made me promise that I would never make another copy these CDs and I never broke the promise. My dad has always been a compulsive consumer of Zeppelin stuff, from albums to t-shirts, posters, books, everything! He has a veritable fortune in band-related items (well… he lost a lot of t-shirts to a certain Zeppmaniac daughter…) 😂 thanks for this interesting chapter in music history! Take care, see ya 😊 (I have fun seeing Plant’s face when JPJ says “also thanks to my friends for finally remembering my phone number” 😂 his expression is so funny, looks embarrassed, angry, amused, like “I’ll hit you later Jonesy!” 🤣
Bless your Father for instilling the Zeppelin fandom in you. Your uncle gave you great advie too :) The phone number line sums up the 90s, JONES can be beaten at the Zeppelin game hehe.
Fantastic stuff as always and perfect timing on a Saturday, merci! JCM, I actually have 2 copies of the 4 compact disc set, one I initially got when I was single and the other my ex gifted me on Christmas, the second copy remains plastic wrapped. People may ask, " why two copies? ", I say, " why not?". I also have two copies of Glenn Gould the complete jacket edition - 80 CD set. There was a second set available at a Vancouver HMV, the last one HMV had, so I scooped it and had it transfered to Toronto.
Every true LZ fan knows that no box set compilation or "greatest hits" album can ever truly do the band justice. Owning all the original full-length albums is mandatory. (But, yeah, I broke down and bought this crop circle box set just so I could finally get the song "Hey! Hey! What Can I Do?" on CD format.)
I like your style. I love your use of musical pieces that create a sense of anticipation, a building up to something..just like Led Zeppelin with their music
I appreciate it JRShield! I guess watching so many documentaries as a kid helped hehe. Thank you for watching! Stay tuned for Episode 3, Premieres July 15th!
Fortunately I still have all the original vinyl in excellent condition. When I saw the 4-CD box set with booklet in a used record store in the early 90s for ten bucks I couldn't resist.
Bought it the day it came out and the two disc set that later came out. I might even have a promotional blimp from it? I huge collection but I have never written down my inventory. Looking forward to this episode. Hopefully I can catch it live. Hope you’re doing well,Jose. ✌️
Thank YOU very much for watching Michael, this 90s adventure is quite an experience for me, revisiting so many alleys. Hope you've catched Episode 3 on Coverdale Page. Stay tuned for Episode 4 on the Making of Fate of Nations!
I wanted that set but couldn't afford it at ther time, a friend of mine bought it so I recorded it onto some TDK SAX Chrome cassettes. I could never get enough of Traveling Riverside Blues, and Hey Hey What Can I do.........Then a few years later (and I hope you cover this set), a new box set came out with ALL the studio albums, and on the Coda album was some extra tracks, one of which is Baby come on Home ( I love this song and its a great recording), the rest are Hey Hey what can I do, Traveling, and White Summer. It came in a cube type box, was called The Complete Sutdio recordings, there were five books with the CD's, each Book has two albums except for Physical Graffiti which has one (double album). The out-takes at the end of In my Time of dying were there, and the other out-takes before Black Country woman which were all missing on previous CD releases. They were completely remastered, I think they are actually the best that were done. All the artwork of the original albums were in those books. There was also a 6th booklet with some pcitures and a story of Zeppelin.... I am sure this was released in 1993. I still have it, in mint condition, I am sure it was 1993 when my ex-wife bought it for me for Christmas..... Loved this episode!!
Every song great.I just like hearing living, loving maid after heartbreaker. It is also missing on mothership album. Thanks jcm for all your research and time to put these together.keep on trucking!!!!!
Not me. Back in the day, when I'd make cassette recordings, I never put LLM in there, at all. But, I realize, that for millions, this was the way they heard there radio stations play it HB/LLM. But, after all these years, I can listen to LLM after HB with a different perspective. (Zeppelin never performed LLM).

Three Tenors album was a mother's day gift in my family, and the others versions after: In Concert, with guests, etc, and Pavarotti and Friends and Andrea Bocceli albums, my mother was a big fan of all that! 😄 For the 1990 Led Zeppelin boxset yeah, they needed money at that time!
That CD was in my house too, endless plays it got hehe. El CD predilecto para cenas familiares. My mom had the Bocceli album too but soon Led Zeppelin started playing through the speakers when teenager JCM got hold of the Stereo lol. Thank you very much for watching. As a massive Zeppelin fan since the early 70s I was lucky enough to score this box set for free as my band at the time were signed to the same publishing company as Zeppelin, still my favourite rock band of all time. 🎶💓🎶
Oh that's nice, you got it straight from the company itself, so cool! Cheers to your box set! Thank you for watching! Stay tuned for Episode 3, Premieres July 15th!
Hard to believe watching Jimmy in 1990 saying he was 2/3rds finished with his "next" solo album. Now, it's 33 years later, where is it at? It just seems like he wasted so much time and opportunities to get back on stage on some level. He could of handled Zep business, and still been actively creating new music. I mean he finished those Zep remasters approximately 7 years ago. And, the reunion concert was 16 years ago!
Spot-on 👏 I keep saying this to a lot of people. Whenever he's asked about a new solo album or his solo career he'll usually give some long-winded and nondescript excuse about it whilst saying that he's been busy with some Zeppelin reissues or some book or something. It really doesn't hold any water as an excuse. The Rolling Stones, the Who, ex-Beatles and ex-Floyd members (others of course) ALL manage to put out new (or fairly new) music and tour whilst putting out retrospective archival releases from the past at the same time.
I think Jimmy's 2/3rds ended up on Coverdale Page. We should never underestimate his 80s depression and what it did to him. I think it's a miracle he's alive really.
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Storiesyea, that's what I was thinking when he said that. I imagine all the zep riffs are used up by now & his demos and live recordings were stolen many years ago. I think it would of benefited Pagey if he had went back to production & studio work in the 80s. Would of kept him busy and might have helped fight off the depression.
I bought the big set brand new in 1990…IN VINYL 😎. 6 LPs! But Jimmy was right - the original CDs sounded like dog-doo. So, his remastering efforts have been much appreciated on my end. Seriously, though, your story about the lady and the CD-R 😅😂😅😂😂😂!
The only things that I didn't like about the '87 Physical Graffitti CD were the print of the cover on the jewel case cover (I guess this was the problem with the design of the double cases, they were wider than most album covers) and that fact that the end of In My Time of Dying got cut off
Yeah, the cut off of in My Time was a sin, you are right. The double jewel case was such an unnecessary thing to do right? Takes up more space and it really feels like they could charge more money just becase it looks BIGGER lol.
I still have my odd mix of 90s cd's, cassettes, and my only bootleg - Destroyer (live 76/77 *but you know that right ?) I over looked Remasters as I already HAD the songs :) I was such a Zep Head in my 20s.
I agree, Dancing Days was my least favorite... until the release of ITTOD. You'd think The Wanton Song should follow Nobody's Fault... at least it does on my mixes! I imagine Candy Store Rock is a favorite of Jimmy's - I love it.
Jimmy has a fixation on Candy Store Rock maybe hehe. I am yet to like this song 100%...it's tough. But hey, we can agree on Dancing Days that makes me Happy. Thank you very much for watching!
As a big Zep fan, I did not jump in on this CD set. But I don't blame others that did. A friend of mine got to know the owner of a CD shoppe, and the owner let him purchase and take home the boxed set the night before the next day's official release. "The Rover" was my favorite song from PG from the get go, in 1975. I was amused that this song did not make it into the this first boxed set. I eventually got the 3 CD compilation from Time-Warner, and then later the "LZ Complete" Boxed set. Looking back, the big double jewel case CD containers for releases like PG and TSRTS were all just excess to me. Later, the CD mfgrs changed and began putting 2-Disc sets in a case or holder that was about the size of an original single CD case. At the time Zeppelin 4-CD set came out, there were lots of other boxed sets, with an album sized booklet that were being released. Or maybe Zep was the first one, I can't remember.
I agree with you that the Double Jewel Cases were unnecessary, specially when the booklet's were underwhelming right? hehe. Remember the Long Box CD's, i read the music industry decided in 1993 to drop them as it produced much waste. Thank you very much for watching!
I purchased the 4CD-Box Set in 1994. At that time it was more affordable to purchase as compared to when it came out in 1990. Well, what can I say...the music is great. Mr. Page needs to release live shows from 1971 (Japan), 1973 (San Diego), and 1977 (Cleveland and Cincinnati show).
Hey Eric, how you doing! Interesting it was cheaper in 1994, well, it battled its way against 3 other Zepp sets hehe, maybe that's why. I agree Page needs to release the shows, but remember its Robert the one holding out on these...won't green light them. UGH! haha Thank you for watching! Episode 3 and 4 are out now. Stay tuned for Episode 5 Premieres July 29th.
I have rock and roll ethics yes, i couldn't sacrifice my Zeppelin teachings for a night of fun you know? haha. Thank you very much for watching. Hope you've catched Episode 3 on Coverdale Page. Stay tuned for Episode 4 on the Making of Fate of Nations!
Hey hey (what can I do?) and Travelling riverside Blues are 2 of the most underrated B-sides there are and to this day it's a mystery to me why they weren't included on an album? But I guess when the source material is THAT good..
Yeah, imagine these were the outtakes....speaks wonders of the level of artistry the band had!Thank you very much for watching! Hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
Reminded of why I don't miss MTV News & Kurt Loder; his delivery of "...jam on the Yardbirds classic cover of THE Train Kept A Rollin" nearly sucked any enthusiasm I have for that song; at least there's still "Stroll On" from the Blow-Up soundtrack.
Nobody beats him, absolutely! Thank you very much for watching. Hope you've catched Episode 3 on Coverdale Page. Stay tuned for Episode 4 on the Making of Fate of Nations!
Reserved my box set , picked it up on release day, traded it to cd store owner for the full box set when it was released, In retrospect not sure if it was the right thing to do, Still have it in mint condition. I guess I really wanted it and money was tight with a little one in the house.
If it's mint condition, it's worth keeping, congrats for that, it's quite hard to preserve records! Thank you for watching! Episode 3 and 4 are out now. Stay tuned for Episode 5 Premieres July 29th.
I bought the albums...then bought them again on CD....then bought the first boxed set. That was it for me. Everything after that, and from here on out, I get from torrent sites. I refuse to pay for the same song a dozen times just because Page re-re-re-re-re-masters it every two years. lol
I still love this box set mainly for the shift in context thanks to the fluidity within the very lose and gradual and chronology. Even here I find that Jose once more puts his unique twist on the running order by introducing the logic behind it that I’d not spotted. I still prefer both the box and the 2CD “Remasters“ versions over “Mothership”. I remember being so excited and switched on when this project dropped, but I certainly have learnt some more here which is only to be expected from JCM. One trivial point; Jimmy saying he’d not written with Robert for 10 years. Jose didn’t they write “The Only One” on “Outrider”?
Sorry i hadn't responded to your message yet, it's been crazy here hehe. Mothership is a horrendus product, no question. Thank You so much for watching this one Paul. You are RIGHT on The Only One, i think Jimmy believes they "didn't write" it because he had everything pretty much set, but yes, Robert contributed his parts and the record has a Page/Plant credit so yeah, Jimmy got his facts mixed up!
Another great idea for another great JCM LZ documentary - bravo I recall the Crop Circles release. MTV was all over it. A whole weekend with TRSB and TYG videos They did a wonderful sequencing of songs - especially the HotH, PG disc 3 You are right on about Disc 4 Nice to hear Hey Hey What Can I Do in the place it deserved The LZii was rest of the songs cds were lackluster in comparison You can get them inexpensively in good shape for reasonable prices
hahahah that's a great name!!! Here we are, born to be kings We're the Remasters of the universe Here we belong, fighting to survive In a world with the Biggest Box Sets
Zep has a deep well of rarities . Not sure why the repackaging of the songs are handled this way . Dont they know that even on a bad night they were good ?
I was in my mid 20s and quite familiar with the music when that box set came out, and couldn't wait to get a copy, so I bought them as cassettes. Sadly, they've disappeared but I still have that 'pizza box'....lol.....couldn't bring myself to throw it out although I have no use for it now.
I know the feeling, that's called respect for the Artwork, and that is a great virtue! Thank you for watching! Episode 3 and 4 are out now. Stay tuned for Episode 5 Premieres July 29th.
@19:00 now THAT is hysterical.....don't we all know a douchebag or two like that! Incredible work man, as always. I bought it new in 1990 when I was 23. Seems like yesterday :-(
Hahahah yeah, those douchy dudes are funny, i lost count how many i've met at record stores lol. So cool you bought it on release date, man you lived a very special time in rock and roll history. Glad these documentaries bring back memories! Episode 3 and 4 are out now, #5 premieres Saturday July 29th!
