We often use "Turbos" or "Bite blocks" to correct deep bites (overbites). This is a clinical video illustrating how easy it is to remove them with the correct technique.
I just got mine yesterday along with my braces and my oh my, i really wanna get rid of them! I never really knew how much i loved chewing on my food until now 😭
I still have mine after two years, when I got them I felt beyond uncomfortable as if the dentist made a mistake, I felt like I couldn't live like this but after two weeks it was all normal lol. I'm getting my brackets removed tomorrow, so hopefully, they also get rid of my bite ramps too in the same session! The sound of the drill makes me cringe so much..
I dont know why, but mine fell off the day after i got my braces done.. I was trying to chew on soft white bread. So what exactly was the cause of it falling off? Curious as heck 😂😂😂😂
@@drdougortho how would you suggest removing them yourself? I really hate these things so much and if it weren’t for these things I probably wouldn’t be regretting braces right now
@@johnathonjagodzinski4516 Hey, when I first got them on I could barely eat and everything was a pain. It was totally unbearable. But it DOES get better with time because your teeth shift and so on. After some time, I got so used to them that I forgot they were there. Plus, those blockers are there for an important reason, so you really so need them to stay on. So stick in there with patience and just know that soon you'll be used to it in a few weeks! Just eat soft foods and protein smoothies in the meantime:)
no, molar ones usually need to be polished off fully, not popped/snapped off like i show here. But all orthodontists do it differently, i would say most don't do it this way, thus why i shared it for other orthodontists to see an easy way:)
Hi, I just got bite turbos yesterday. they don't hurt but I feel like when I eat they get smaller. I got them on my back molar. I mean they are doing there job which is to stop my top teeth from touching by bottom brackets, but I wanted to make sure that is was ok
@@maxlarock8788 mine too bro i can literally only chew with 2 molars the rest of them I can’t touch them is like im toothless i just be swallowing food now its my 3rd day hopefully it gets better
Thank god mine both fell off with in a week of each other. Not telling my orthodontist or mom though lol. Cereal has been the stone cold killer of my bite blocks
I just barely got mine on, but mine are behind my two front teeth on the top. my issue is my molars don’t touch and am not able too chew. If I try I hit the blockers. I’m just not sure how to help myself.
@Super Nova hey When did you get urs removed or is it still there ?? I just got mine 2 days back and at the same position as urs ... How am i supposed to eat 🥲
@@sunandamukherjee9111 I still have mine in and it’s almost been about a year. It hurts and feels like the end of the world at first but you’ll get used to it eventually. It doesn’t hurt now
What does “biting on your braces” feel like? I told my tech that one bracket was scraping my gums and she added these turbos and they’re AWFUL. I’ve never been so uncomfortable in my life. Every time I close my mouth, just the feeling of them touching my other teeth makes me have a breakdown. But I have to have it closed because I just got rubber bands as well and having my mouth open causes too much pressure. I’m absolutely miserable and there’s pretty much nothing I can do about it and I’m like 90% sure I just want to Jill myself and get it over with 🙂
@@drdougortho I’m not so sure about that. I have sensory issue and certain feelings bother me no matter how long I experience it. I’ve literally been crying ever since I left the orthodontist. Everything my teeth touch the turbos it gives me chills in a bad way and I cry again
I just got my braces on and one of the bite blockers fell out, I’m not really sure what to do because it dosent seem to be causing any harm, plus the other one will eventually wear away aswell
Hey there doc, I have those white colored bite turbos. Recently, my dentist tried to remove them, one of them was completely removed, while the other one is still there, it is somewhat damaged and it is creating great trouble. What should i do?
Hey Doc! I need your advice! I have metal turbos on my two front lower incisors.. and today my dentist tried to only use the second tool you showed here to practically yank them off. Problem is, it was an incredible pain, like she was going to yank the tooth out as well! Can this be used or something less painful?
Did they end up coming off though? I don't like the metal ones bc they can be harder to remove... but the only way to do it is to "pop" them off... it doesn't always hurt as much as you described. I'm sorry!
Unfortunately, No. I asked them to be removed on my next visit if it’s going to be that painful since I’m 8 months pregnant and could not take it lol. Thanks so much!
Hey there doc! I've had bite turbos for a about 6 months now and it's been well and fine. Ortho assistant tried to remove them today - didn't use a device to cut any parts, only tried with a tweezer looking thing to pull them off. All that wiggling without them even budging was unbearably painful and I had to tell him to stop. Not sure if my pain tolerance is just terribly low or if I should request if they can do an alternative method? Any thoughts?
I’ve had top braces for about three months or so, and I just got my bottom. They put blue stuff on the bottom of my 2 molars on the left and right and it’s sore and hard to chew on. I was wondering if I could take them off myself dew too discomfort.
There is no way to remove them yourself. even if you could you would likely start biting on your braces as soon as you ate and they would break off. Do not try to remove them yourself.
is there any way to remove them at home? one of my bite blockers fell out and when i told my ortho she said that it’s fine because i don’t need them anymore, but didn’t remove the other one? so mouth feels uncomfy and uneven right now.
@@drdougortho yes Dr. absolutly, but if you use braces, would you choose mbt, roth, or damon system, putting the bracket more gingivally or as presicription, if the pat. refuses tads, what are your options?
i have had mine for 3 years, braces then retainers. but i haven't gone to my dentist bcus the retainers are too painful and i wore them only for few months and i got new one bcus old ones were not fitting and i wore new ones for a few more months and stopped wearing them again. should i just consult my dentist and get my bite pad removed?
@@drdougortho When I got retainers, they said the bite blocks which are on my molars would get broken down on its own as my jaw gets adjusted. Will they cause cavities? I practice good oral hygiene everyday
@@anirudh5957 I've never seen a reason to leave them on someone after treatment, so I can't say specifically for you. They should not cause cavities but it's possible if they were not done properly.
you see what is necessary to take them off here in this video. This is NOT something you can do or should even attempt on your own! Call your orthodontist and ask to be seen to adjust yours!
I had these blocks that were molded onto the bottom of two of my molers. around 3 days later the right one completely broke apart and fell off in my sleep (its been 2 months and I still have the left one). they said the put them on so my teeth on the right side won't bite on the bracket, but even with the blocker gone my teeth don't touch the brackets, so why did they put them on?
There are various reasons to use them, I can't comment on your specific situation. But one is enough to change your bite short term, but the other likely needs to be replaced asap.
Its been a week since i got braces and i noticed that my teeth became sensitive and as if they r going to fall off, when i touch my front teeth they kinda hurt, is it normal?
my ortho placed these blockers from my back teeth, my front teeth are not even touching the brackets. She said it’s to fix my bite, there must be a mistake
The reason I got mine is literally just because I have the new guy as my ortho, and they messed up putting on a bracket, so now I have to live with this for a month and a half 💀
