In this video I remove the Harley Davidson tank emblems on my 2019 Harley Davidson Heritage and replace them with some vinyl decals from Vinylines. Get yours here: shop.vinylines.com/ Thanks for watching!
Nice video! Just bought a 2022 Softail Heritage Classic 114 and already wanting to remove the emblem from the tank. Thanks for the tutorial. Looks nice!
Looks so much cleaner! Got a 2020 Heritage myself. One of the only things I don’t like are those gaudy badges. Thank you for the great video! Ride safe!!
WD40 applied to the top section of the badge, followed by a careful use of a heat gun followed by fishing line works a treat too. The excess tape residue comes off easily with your fingers, a cloth and if needed a little more WD40.
👍 On the older bikes those tank badges used to be screwed on, there was mounting plate under it. Cheaper and faster to glue them on. I'm surprised there isn't a bunch of people telling you should of done this and done that, but you did fine, Patience is the important tool. I used to do prep work and take off badges, reflector and the like, I tried all the methods. If it works it works.
Well, like I said in the video, I know there are different way, but I had done this when i debadged my Tacoma a few years ago. Thanks for watching Ron!
Daaang, that looks nice. Good job picking the matching red for those decals. I was going to de badge mine but I ended up plastidipping those. I might debadge it in the future
have pulled the badging off all of my bikes except current (just have not got around to it) It takes some time. Looks like a dead on match to the pin stripping. Awesome look
Thanks I'm looking at videos to remove the emblem of my Road King Special 17' and I was wondering about the stickers instead of the emblem looks like it worked out for you thank you! 🎉
Hey JP....what was your reference to where you wanted it? The top one even with your fuel cap? You nailed where to put it. Just wondering what your reference point was. The vid skipped that process. Thanks, John
Thanks John, I just tried to center it on the tank as best I could to where the center of the original badge was, which was why I had the green tape on the tank. It came out as good as I hoped. Thanks again, bud!
Ok I instaled my flushed mount gas cap and fake cap as per your other video with great success. I already ordered my Harley badges and was going to debadge my 2018 Heritage but chickened out now your video has inspired me. Btw you vinyl badges where half the price of mine. I think mine are 3 inch badges what size are yours? Do you think if I remove my stock emblems after over 2 years of owning the bike the tank will show shadows of the old emblem? Its the Iron denim red color. The new badges are gloss black. Great vlogg very informative.
Robert Hodges I took the tank badges off my black Street Glide after it was 4 years old. After I buffed the area by hand I could still see some light shadowing/ghosting; easily visible. I then buffed the area with a dual action buffer using both Meguiar’s Polish and Machine Glaze #3. All the ghosting was completely removed, not visible at any angle or in any light. It only took a few minutes and the entire tank looked great. Get ‘er done.
I honestly have to say it was holding up fine and looked great, when I traded her in on my new Gold Wing. Haha, I think the company that makes the stickers makes them to last, but i couldn't say now. Thanks for watching and commenting!
That was a riiiiisky effort but it turned out well! Now order a plain black air cleaner cover from Arlen Ness, replacing that 114 logo, get Harley’s Nostalgia Handlebar grips, and a lower profile two up seat from Corbin, and you’re set!
@@JP1970 LOL!!! It’s always more fun spending somebody else’s money.... Just thinking out loud, living vicariously thru you, waiting to get the back side of this COVID mess... thinking thru the changes I NEED to make with the bike... never ending.
