Ok...I like the other exposed spings better. You can easily see a broken spring. That being said, I have this type and ordered them. It took a week. I was quoted $800 to $1000 to have a pro do it. That's a rip-off if you can do it yourself. It was an easy job for me. Good video. 👍
Great video. Local installer want $495 labor to fix mine so I'm going to replace it myself. He even went as far as saying I would probably need to replace the entire door.
I just picked up my Torquemaster springs at my local Wayne Dalton distributer. For a 16ft x 7ft, 123 lb, 9000 series garage door. The new springs came in the tube. It came preinstalled in the metal tear drop 16 ft tube for $93 bucks. Makes the DIY job even easier! My previous springs lasted 6 years. I was getting quotes from $500 to $900, some contractors even suggesting to convert to torsion. 😅🤣
My torque master springs just broke and the guy that came out to look at it made it seem like a huge pain in the ass to get them replaced. Said a lot of companies won't do it and you have to wait weeks to get the parts. Quoted me $1000 to switch it all out. I politely declined.
I wish I had the tools and the patience to do this myself. Going to have to pay someone else to get this done. Great job, definitely make it look easy.
Thanks for the video, dealing with this right now. ordered my springs and they should be here Monday so went ahead and started removing things. I cannot get either of the plastic pulley ends to come off???????
@@toledoupsguy6064 you can try spraying some WD40 in there. Maybe try a block of wood next to it and light tap with a hammer to see if it will free it up.
@@HomegrownHowTo little tap of rubber mallet and they came off, thank you again. I haven't watched the reinstall yet since I don't have my new springs so this may not be an issue at all, tubes aren't as long as the old springs.
I got new springs and cable but my cable drum is stuck and I can’t get it off. It seems to be off on the groove where you slide in the drum. Any ideas?
@@HomegrownHowTo I tried that today but it is still stuck and not coming off. Quite frustrated as I just need to take off both drums to change the springs
