I changed out a section of old marine anchor chain and checked my ground tackle before the start of the hurricane season in Florida for 2024. I also got surprised with a GoPro hero 9 black courtesy of Sailing Abroad RU-vid channel. Thank you so much Quinton and Christina for this camera. Be sure to check them out on their RU-vid channel Sailing Abroad: / @sailingabroad6528

I know it sounded like 8500' of chain but I meant 85'-100' of chain 😅

I'm in the next anchorage over (maximo) that harbor gets nasty .... definitely need a large danforth.... everyone thats been dragging in there is using c q r or spade anchors, the bottom is mud and sand there...... truuuuust me, Danforth is the way to go there

I would add the Delta wing anchor to the list also. But your right the Danforth holds really well here also, that's what I use for a backup. Heavy and quick burying seems to be the trick here for me as well as checking the anchor often. I've noticed that too, that the CQR seems to unbury it's self alot here, seen a few drag using that.

I leave the anchor down at 15' and tow it a bit till it's clean. Works every time. I don't think those links will go through a windless. That zink chain?

It's a zinc coated towing chain

@@PennWolfsSailingAdventures oh... you do what you gotta do to stay functional. I just replaced 120' of galvanizing 5/16" chain for $700 😢 (Canada).

How hard was that anchor to pull up by hand

It's always a chore. Kinda like trying to push a car.
