Comment Part 2 When you do multi-part calls/vids, LOVE that your now adding links, you should also label them Parts 1 & 2 (and use similiar naming structure). Makes them easier to find. THANKS!!

First, i like very much your videos and how you try to explain everything. Although i think and i stress "I think." You could have jumped from the high side to the low side at the service valves. Less loss of refrigerant. I don't claim to know all . Just a thought. Thanks for the good job. Did you or could you do a tour of your tool bag a what works for you. Thanks Delawareman

Nice job Curtis and I see you used a press fitting and tool again. And I am sure it was a joy not to spend all that time running nitrogen and brazing. And once again having a happy customer. I need to look at your video again to study on how to get all the refrigerant cycled back into the compressor as it looked like you closed off the high pressure side valve to allow the gas state refrigerant to enter the compressor but not be able to leave the condenser in a liquid state. I am studying up so maybe one day I can get an hvac cert just to work on my own stuff but do it correctly. And just cycling back the refrigerant back into the condensing unit is sure a good way to save refrigerant and charging costs and then just vacaum out the system and charge it as needed.
@jthonn
@jthonn Год назад
Years ago, maybe they still do I don't know, but you could buy a condenser with the refrigerant in it. It stores it in the accumulator. So he did the same thing, so you don't have to go through the whole recovery bit.

There's a kit a the parts house I've used once to repair a leak on a trane coil. You slid the copper and aluminum together in the "coupling" then heated it with a propane torch. I thought for sure it would leak but it never did and was still tight until I replaced it 5 years later.

Thanks Curtis watched again so lock down high side first like I thought except my unit has a Allen key hex style let refrigerant cycle back in until you here a clattering clunking sound then slowly close low side line or gas state refegerent side. Then proceed except my unit also has the allen key hex ports on the high and low side on the air handler too. So wondering if the high side on the air handler would have to be closed too first just like the condenser.
@HVACGUY
@HVACGUY Год назад
Most air handlers don’t have valves to close
@gabrielstern4992
@gabrielstern4992 Год назад
@@HVACGUY mine does for some reason as it came precharged also with refrigerant in addition to the condenser it can handle up to a 100 ft lineset precharged. Without needing additional refrigerant. Thats why the alan key valves were on the air handler in addition to the condenser. As it requires opening the valves on the air handler in addition to the condenser. To release the refrigerant so both work properly. But thanks watching you do the condenser procedure was real helpful too bad you are in Georgia and not Pennsylvania. As I would hire you in a second. To do my work I need done. Which is a lot to correct another hvac companies horrible install and replacing another older Armstrong Lennox package in wall unit from 1990 that was a split hear pump with a horrible way undersized comfort pac that was not even a true heat pump system. As the correct exact replacement would have been the Lennox magic pac 3 ton unit. But I decided, I don't even like them and I am going side discharge inverter for the condenser. And a real spit. But how the hell can an hvac professional undersize a unit. 1200 square feet to 1500 square feet is 3 tons. Especially for cooling. Not 1 and a half tons. For a heat pump application And how the hell can you not figure out on a multi floor condo a open return sucking into a closet space is not adaquite either. And you need at least one proper sized return for the upstairs. Anyway I am figuring it out myself and intend to have a competent contractor like yourself do all this for me the right way but it is going to cost 10 grand just to have the ductwork redone and have everything installed correctly and to my satisfaction. None of this hurry up a do a horrible hack job and charge 10 grand that's wrong. Your customer are lucky they have you. To do such good work for them.

@Balticblue93
@Balticblue93 Год назад
You cannot properly pump down a system without at least one gauge, usually a compound gauge to know when it is empty. Listening to the sound of the compressor making a chattering noise is NOT an approved method by any standards. That is exactly why he had pressure in the line when he was removing the TEV. Noticed how the video editing cut out and came back to after the venting of the refrigerant? The amount was far more then "de minimis" venting because the pump down was not done correctly. Notice the compressor was not making crazy noises like it is about to explode, that is why you use a refrigerant recovery machine through a filter drier or pump it down properly with a gauge attached to know where your level is. He should have recovered from the high side. But a recovery through a filter drier would have been "best practices".

@bill944
@bill944 Год назад
Low side pressure/temperature will generally be sub freezing and adding refrigerant will not get it above freezing or allow any increase in the pressure reading. Also, you can hold the txv sensing bulb and the low side pressure should rise, if the txv has failed the pressure will not rise.
@franciscoflores2718
@franciscoflores2718 Год назад
If your liquid line pressures are going up to like 500psi. This would also tell you if the piston was clogged. But the TXV can also be back if your superheat is fluctuating.

@leahciM_silliW
@leahciM_silliW Год назад
I would surmise a plugged capiliary line to the sensing bulb, plugged capiliary to the equalization line, or a failed diaphragm. I believe the spring design on these valves are for the valve to fail in the closed position (i.e. no refrigerant going to coil) What does everyone else think?
@MariosACandRefrigeration

on that txv it lost the charge ,when he cut it nothing came out,on some systems they forget to install the strainer,when the solder the 3/8 line,and pluggs up some techs heat the bulb on accident and loose the charge on install and say the valve was defective,but most of the time the bellows losses charge by age or rust.
