This video from Sears PartsDirect shows how to replace the detergent dispenser on a dishwasher. The dispenser in the dishwasher door houses the main wash detergent cup and the rinse aid compartment. A hinged cap covers the detergent cup until the electronic control board-or the timer, in some models-signals the cap's latch to pop open. During the last rinse, the rinse aid compartment releases a small amount of rinse aid. If you find any dispenser parts damaged or the dispenser doesn't open when activated during the cycle, you can replace it using the steps in this video.

The dispenser in the dishwasher door houses the main wash detergent cup and the rinse aid compartment. A hinged cap covers the detergent cup until the electronic control board-or the timer, in some models-signals the cap's latch to pop open. During the last rinse, the rinse aid compartment releases a small amount of rinse aid. If you find any dispenser parts damaged or the dispenser doesn't open when activated during the cycle, you can replace it using the steps in this video. Wear work gloves to protect your hands. Now, let’s get started. Unplug the dishwasher or shut off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher. To verify that power is disconnected, make sure the control panel doesn’t light up when you press the buttons. Remove the Torx screws from the inner door panel. Support the outer door panel with one hand as you remove the final screws so the outer door panel doesn't fall. Separate the outer door panel and control panel slightly from the inner door panel. Disconnect the user interface control wire harness from the control panel. Pull off the outer door panel and control panel. Unplug the dispenser wire harness from the inner door. Remove the mounting bracket screws and pull off the mounting bracket, letting it hang by the dispenser wire harness. Release the locking tabs and pull the dispenser out from the inside of the dishwasher. Insert the new dispenser and engage the locking tabs. Reinstall the mounting bracket and secure it with the screws. Plug in the dispenser wire harness. Reconnect the user interface control wire harness and attach the outer door panel and control panel to the inner door panel. Reinstall the mounting screws. Reset the house circuit breaker or plug in the dishwasher to restore electrical power.

Thanks very much for the video. I have just adapted your advice to change the dispenser on my Blomberg dishwasher. It was fiddly but there is no chance I could’ve done it without following your video step by step! So thanks for the video, you guys have saved me £££ 🙏🏻👍🏻

Very good video, thanks! Some slight differences in my unit, a 1983 GE Triton XL: the cable to the control panel was a wide ribbon cable that looked like it wanted to snap if you said harsh words to it (I said plenty by the time I was done with this project), my unit had TWO plugs for the detergent dispenser, and one of the two plugs was nearly impossible to unlplug--why, who knows (protip--pay attention to which wire/plug goes to which receptacle so you can plug them in again properly!). Worst of all, the door/control panel on the front of mine is TWO pieces, which made putting the door/control panel back on & replacing the screws a 30 minute ordeal that took two people--one to get everything lined up and held in place, the other to put the screws in. It kept wanting to fall apart *just* when you'd get it perfect. My best cuss words got a workout, and I admit to flipping off the dishwasher at the end, but that was mostly for the door reassembly.

So after we (OK, me) added Tarn-X (hey, the bottle was little and so close to the rinse aid??)--YES, FREAKING TARN-X--into the rinse aid dispenser, this video SAVED me! I called the number on the back of the owners manual for help...they we NO HELP! I really thought I might have to buy a new machine so as not to poison the family! Although I was able to figure it all out, I wish you had shown what tools you used. Please assume that you are doing these helpful videos for Ms. Average. I have a menagerie of tools but know the names or purpose of very few. THANKS AGAIN!

I have no end it on the door or a place to put any soap there is a small gray box that you have to unscrew two holes there are two slots one to put water in and want to put water out the cover on the gray box has a small hole but there is no indent on this model
