It’s worth letting everyone know who’s trying this that the switch cover has tiny parts inside that can spring apart when reassembling- be careful take a photo of the switch components inside. Hold the two push buttons up together when you connect the button shelf back on !
I know this is an old video but thank you so much for making this! My puppy chewed my cord (for the third time 🤬) and my husband was so mad he refused to spend the $100 to get it replaced at the vacuum store again. I was able to do it myself thanks to your video! I'm the least handy person on this planet so if I can do it anybody can! Thanks again! 😁
asquaregarden Now I feel way less embarrassed that my otherwise well behaved 5 yr old Lab chewed thru mine too. What is it with these tasty dyson cords? Lol. Thanks so much for giving me the confidence that I can order a replacement cord off Amazon& do it myself!
The section for disconnecting the white wire at 2:38, where there is a small tab to release it, saved me a huge hassle trying to tug it apart. Thanks! Also, my T10 but worked to remove the screws on a DC40, I was panicking that I didn't have a T15 :)
Thank you for this! My dad used to repair my Dyson but he's since passed away so I'm slowly learning how to fix stuff around my house. I've had my Dyson 07 for about 15 years and it's still going. I accidentally broke one of the prongs on the plug and had a wee search on here and up popped your video! New cable is on route and your video seems easy to follow. Thank you for uploading, much appreciated xxx
Same! Thanks so much! My cat chewed mine and despite electrical tape it finally blew! The only thing I can say is when you remove that top panel with the buttons BE CAREFUL! there is a little white control arm and spring that fall out .. you definitely need those! They go to the silver button!
5 stars - you saved us the price on a new Dyson with your vid. Thank you! Tip to others, be careful when you guys take out the actuator (the ON and OFF switch with red and gray buttons). There are small springs in there that popped out when I removed that part after taking out the T-15 screws. Other that easily fixable hiccup (thanks to looking at another vid ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bd_eCgG5UyQ.html - this was great!
Can't fault a person for knowing their limits. In truth I fixed mine but ended up buying a Dyson V8 also. The cordless one is the main vacuum and it is excellent for maintaining. Now we only use the animal when doing a deep cleaning.
Just found one of this in the trash with the cord chew by a dog, i just deep clean the whole thing and will order the power cord to see if it's still works, thank's for the video it will guide me through.
I tried to find a T21 torx bit or screwdriver since your video said to use T21 screwdriver to remove screws. The closest I could find in the US is T20. When I searched for Dyson screwdriver, there is a repair kit with T6, T8 and T10 … no mention of T21.
@@asquaregardenhi, checking if you have a video for this as the spring and white piece fell out as I removed the front panel and didn’t realize this would happen as I found your video afterwards. Where do the two pieces go? I can tell they go with the grey button 😅
