Rescue 50 responding as the 3rd due rescue company assisting Station 48 (Ronks) on a vehicle accident involving an overturned school bus. Willow Street Fire Company. Rescue 50 is a 2002 Pierce Lance.
When it's you or yours needing emergency help, the truck never goes fast enough. That driver was very smooth and purposeful with every maneuver. He (she) handled that truck beautifully at high speeds. The only thing that irks me is how people don't see it important to get out of the way. When I'm out on the road (I'm a package delivery driver) and a siren is approaching from back OR front, I get onto the shoulder, even the grass if I can. I get out of the way to let the emergency vehicle pass quickly. I will pull over on a 4-lane highway, regardless of the direction of the approaching vehicle, just in case it has to come onto my side. I guess they don't teach emergency etiquette in driver's training nowadays.
For those saying such a long ride, this is a rescue truck not an engine. 50 states they were third rescue in. This is a mass casualty. Companies from numerous counties are responding. I hope these kids are ok. Hearing the call for lifeflight cannot be good. Thanks to rescue 50. These are great videos.
It can never be said enough, Thank you to all first responders. Rich or poor, young or old, white or black, smart or dumb, nice or mean, first responders are going to help you and me with every last effort to keep us safe. And that is what's truly beautiful about them. Thank you first responders, even when we forget to say it.
Well there were children involved in this collision, and they were potentially seriously injured. If that doesn't make any first responder flip in the lights and sirens and floor it to race to the scene, then I don't know what will.
This is a great video for how to handle stress, anxiety, and so many emotions while still keeping composure handling the rig and keeping the crew safe. Job well done Sir, one of the best apparatus responses I have ever seen.
Nope...more important for them to get home to their loved ones. People are selfish nowadays. Nevermind it could be their loved ones dying that the ambulance/police/fire rescue are trying to get to.
People in Grand County, CO move over for us all the time when we are running hot to an emergency call. I'm a firefighter with Granby Fire Department, Grand County, CO
Eric Paulus it's in the big cities where the selfish douche bags reside. Can't tell you how many times i've seen idiots take forever to move out of the way for Dallas Fire Resuce here in Dallas cause they're not paying attention, they're either on the phone talking, trying to text or change the song. It's a little better in the Dallas suburb I live in, most move out of the way for emergency vehicles right away, it's the city idiots that are more hard headed and selfish.
Love 'em or hate 'em, a Roto-Ray will get your attention like nothing else. Personally, I love 'em. They have a unique look, and the single white lamp give a unique strobe pattern that informs traffic directly ahead, "Hey, I'm comin' yer way ... MOVE!"
That was awesome it was like i was sitting right there. Best footage. My dad is a retired police officer. I remember riding in his car when i was little (of course not during a call). But i often wondered what it felt like. No wonder their adrenaline is so high by the time they get there long or short distance. When your going that fast. Im a RN and my adrenaline is soring when a code is called by the time you run and get to where it is your ready for what ever is going to take place. This video is better than any TV show. Thanks well done. It really makes you aware of how hard and how these people put their lives on the line for us. Amazing😀
Gotta love the Federal Q siren. You can literally tell how pumped up and dire the situation is based on how long that thing stays wide open..... No siren says "GTFO of the way" like that thing does.
1. Damn that was a long drive 2. That truck was flyin... had my adrenaline flowing 3. I could've watched that for an hour without getting bored 4. Sad reason for the call :(
At 7:56 y'all just said screw that stop sign! Love it! When I'd respond to calls where dispatch requested we step up our response there was a few stop signs we blew at a high rate of speed! Keep up the great work guys!
It's not the drive there thats long, it's the drive back to the house. Where my department covers is a large portion of a county, over half actually, and to get most places it's a run like this. Great video. Lots of good driving here too.
Just a reminder if there is no median separating you from the road the fire engine/ambulance/police car is on, you should pull over COMPLETELY and STOP until the emergency vehicle has passed. Itdoesn’t matter if you’re going opposite directions, or if you are two+ lanes over. If you can, you need to get the fuck out of the way. The bus at 1:52 is the perfect example.
You gotta love the difference between urban and suburban areas and how drivers behave. In suburban areas, despite having plenty of room, they move aside the road and let the truck pass. In other videos from urban areas cars just WON'T move,
An overturned school bus, not good at all. Thoughts with the first responders, the friends, the families and the community. Good video though - you guys were haulin' (as I'm sure anyone would to such a call).
Sucks when we get calls at the opposite end of our Township. Super long response times like this. They're usually car or ORV accidents out in the boonies that give us those super long response times.
Man, I forget how far away the help is sometimes when my town has three fully staffed FD's, no one station is more than five miles from my house. The nearest is a quarter mile away. Anyway, much respect to you guys, especially the volunteers, nobody knows when we'll need you!
Our response time from dispatch to on scene is 20-30mins or more. Then 1hr to ED by ground. It's funny when we get new people who come from the city. They forget there is no back up coming.
Some people in these comments are critical of the speed of the rig.. but from what I saw the driver did not maintain a constant 70mph... he checked each intersection and direction change before speeding up.. nothing wrong with his superb handling of the rig.
I'm amazed how traffic on both sides of the road stop so you have plenty of room. In Australia most driver ignore emergency vehicles no matter what directing on they are travelling. Even when they right behind a car the driver thinks it's his road go around. It disgusting how they drive.
stephan burgess well to be honest Australian emergency vehicles don't look all that real, so that's probably why. I think they also sound like French sirens. Very...erhm, bad.
I loved a siren's and that is a great siren of a Q with power call sirens running together its perfectly safe for to warned traffic out of the way of a response fire engine that's awesome dude.👍😎😀
Whenever I hear sirens, I’m immediately pulling over even if it’s in the other side. Because seconds matter and if I can help them get there safer and faster, then I will
I don’t know where this taking place but I do know that people move or stop for the fire truck and that’s something drivers is Tulsa don’t do. God driving guys.
Did everyone survive the accident? I hope they throw the book at the guy that caused it! Not only do you cause a school bus to crash, you then decide to run from the scene and leave injured kids that could have needed immediate help!
Those sirens are manual?? or they have both automatic? I notice sometimes its off when low/no traffic and when traffic or intersection come it turns on.
Not really a bad response time. I know of a district with 126 sq miles and one station, takes 25-30min to get to one part of the district. Add to that getting members to the station and it could be 35min to get there from the time you call.
Woulda had you guys beat distance wise if we didn't get recalled. I was so confused because the pager woke me up and all I could make out was Rescue 23 and East Lampeter Twp. I was like County must mean East Hempfield Twp. Wasn't till I looked at my phone and was like oh this isn't good.
FireRescue 50 I think the longest ride I've been on was several years ago was a Truck run for a dwelling in 21's first due. It was on the Brubaker Valley Pike. Must of taken 20 minutes to get there since we had to go up through Lititz during lunch rush hour. It was near Lake Speedwell.
Lol. While speeding down the road with flashing lights and sirens, responding to an overturned schoolbus another schoolbus deems it acceptable to pull out in front of them. Crazy! Where was this at?
James Smallwood no it's called a rotoray it's a ln extra set of lights on a fire apparatus that helps attract attention of motorists of when in motion of response to get people alerted to move out of the way
