Resident Evil 4 on Switch is Missing Something Important... 

You can skip cutscenes. I believe it's the "-" on Switch.

If you are using the GameCube controller then you can’t skip cutscenes.

Correction: You can use the Gamecube controller on the Wii version of RE4, but you have to sort of trick the game into doing so. (Once you're past the screen that asks you to plug the Nunchuck into the Wii Remote, unplug the Nunchuck and plug in the GameCube controller.) You can also use the Classic controller as well. That's one of the many reasons why the Wii version is considered the best version: Multiple controller options, all of the extra content and meta tweaks from the PS2 version, and a true widescreen mode from the PS2 version with the real time cutscenes and visuals of the GCN version in the main campaign. I still prefer the GCN version b/c HURR MAH NOSTALGIA but man, the Wii version is just the way to go.

Before we go on praising the wii version as the "definitive version", the wii version did have some issues that I think people should be aware of. Control wise, the wii version was quicker due to lining up your shot much quicker. Most of the issues of the wii version are graphic and presentation issues. You did have to have a big green cursor on the screen, which was a bit of an eye sore. For some reason to achieve a widescreen presentation, Capcom made it a slightly zoomed in version of the gamecube game. Not the in-game camera, but literally zooming in on the image, which degraded the picture quality a bit. There were also small black bars around the entire image. When I say the entire image, I mean it. Top, bottom left and right. It was a bizarre presentation, even for the time players were wondering if they had missed some sort of picture setting. It did not look great back when it came out compared to the gamecube version, but it was the only version with widescreen support when it came out, and the controls did add something new for those who struggled with the tank like controls of the original. In this sense, it was the definitive version. However, when the 360 and ps3 versions came out, the wii version probably lost that title. The moment the 2017 XB1, PS4 and 2016 ultimate PC version came out, the wii version definitely lost the title of "definitive" version. Thanks for reading the history of RE4 ports :)

Silly Alex. You forgot you had a knife and can use it to break boxes! You also forgot that you can kick stunned enemies and knife downed enemies to conserve ammo.

The detail the sound and visuals and the switch version of the game was amazing I mean I think I stared at the water for a good 20 minutes so impressed seeing the bottom of it.

I played and finished this on the wii, I agree the controls were brilliant, made the game feel so much better. If they haven't included motion controls in this version I won't be buying it. Shame

1:29 - you can use the gamecube on any game on the "switch" but gamecube lacks the zl, press the left and right joystick button, select button and home button. 3:00 - the wii version was the best version. 4:55 - i perfer a cross hair over a laser sight in the game. 5:51 - resident 7 was okay, when aiming down the sights, it's not like most 1st person shooter does, show the iron sight or any other sights. 8:12 - lol, how did you not see that trap? 8:59 - use your knife to break the boxes (press and hold l the press a to attack). 10:56 to 11:02 - controller layout still like the classics, wish it play similar to the modern ones. overall, they should modern controller layout and motion like the wii version does.

£30, double what is should be and one feature that would loosely justify that disgusting price is missing.

I still play it on the Wii to this day because the controls are so good. It's the definitive version for sure.

The Wii version still remains as the definitive version as it has the original gamecube visuals intact, which some of them as been absent and/or replaced by inferior quality counterparts on the UHD pc edition(which the later console versions until switch port is based on)

No motion?!?! No sale... I can understand people not liking motion control like it appears in Skyward Sword or wii sports... but RE4 and Metroid used the IR pointer to really improve on the games... a woefully underutilised control scheme... which is why its so odd that the joycon put the camera on the bottom.

Too expensive, no gryo, no extras (eg. Ada's missions). On the plus side, it's one of the best games ever made

The Wii port is still the definitive version in my eyes, also I had originally owned the first version for GameCube that still holds up really well.

Just to let you know that you can play Resident Evil 4 on Wii with a Gamecube controller and Classic Controller addon. Weirdly the way you have to activate Classic Controller mode you had to Switch the game on with a nunchuck, then disconnect the nunchuck and connect the Classic Controller. I don't know why, its just how it works. And I know it is official as the actual classic controller buttons appear on the game screen.

Damn that sucks big time. It was the one thing I was hoping it would still remain, the motion control. Oh well, I guess it's one reason to keep the wii around.

I like motion controls in resi games post re4 , but I don't like them in re4. That's because you can't move and shoot, so every time you go into shooting mode you have to adjust pointer.

The only thing the game needs to beat PS4/X1 is anisotropic filtering.

Never knew so many people cared about the motion controls until the reviews popped up for this. I for one didn't care that much for them but obviously I'm a rare case lol. But for 30 bucks I agree that it should have been an option, but if it bothers anyone that bad just wait for a sale to pop up and get it then.

If you did a video comparison. Side by side the Wii versions Resident Evil Zero archives and Resident Evil Archives and Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition and compared them in a side-by-side video I miss switch versions fans realize aren't all that great when they look at how quickly you can get from area to area on the Wii versions compared to the switch versions proving the switch would have been better off getting the Wii versions of those games at least say one run better less loading time to deal with when it comes to the Wii versions this way they can meet him switch versions by changing their control choices but this way they could have done better

30 USD is a bit to steep for me, especially if it’s just an upgraded, direct port from the Wii. I’ve heard that this version was disappointing, after watching this video I’m definitely going to pass. Or wait for a price drop later this year, which I’m almost certain will happen.

Resident Evil 4 may be in the top 10 best games of all time. On the wii anyways.

RE:4 is STILL my favorite RE game. 1st time I played 4 was on my ps2. I loved the first ones too tho and RE6 to me was good also if you played with a friend in co-op

Another thing I've noticed is they've taken away the iconic blue tinge the whole game had. RE4 was known for having the blue tone throughout the whole game. It's subtle but very noticeable once you see it and despite it being a small change it completely changes the atmosphere. No idea why they would intentionally get rid of it...

Motion controls are overrated

Considering how I've put 120h in Revelations and well over 250h in Revelations 2 because of how well the gyro aiming is, I'm incredibly disappointed they didn't return for this one. Guess I'll use the rest of my Gold coins to get this at the $20 it should've launched at.

So the switch version does not have no motion controls, heard about it so many times. Can't believe it. Is there any chance the devs could implement this feature with a patch? Maybe they did not include motion controls because they not that precise.
