Exclusive Upgrades were in the original game as well, they just would not appear as a buy option until you fully upgraded a weapon. Many of the exclusive upgrades in the remake are from the original game, the damage values are just different. The wrecking ball segment combines the driving construction truck and wrecking ball segment from the original.
You missed on Ashley's biggest change. While I liked her just fine in the original she was absolutely stellar in this one. Really loved her character overhaul.
The power of the shotgun feels more satisfying. In the original you could hit someone with a shotgun close range & heads wouldn’t pop off. Anytime you get up close with the shotgun it does critical damage.
I played the og recently preparing for remake. The og just has easier enemy knockdowns and the shotgun always preferred knocking them down instead of popping their heads. a year ago i played the vr version and that was easy because u can barrel stuff every gun. Not so possible with og
What? The shotgun in the OG RE4 and the weapons in general were way more powerful than the weapons in the remake. Headshots were more satisfying as well. Leon’s roundhouse kick was also more powerful and had a wider radius which was very useful for crowd control.
You actually make so much money in this game. There’s so much treasure on each of the 3 sections. The gem systems makes it even more profitable. You also get 2 exclusive upgrade tickets that save you well over 150k. I was complaining about there being more money drops than ammo/heal drops during my play through lol
The laser room was undoubtedly a nod to the then relatively new Resident Evil movie. I guess they really have purged all the early 2000s cheese out of this game.
I get that, but let's be fair; the laser room serves far less of a purpose without the QTEs attached to it, and since the QTEs are by large gone outside of a few select ones, keeping the laser room was more or less pointless. It was a nod to the movie, and a good one, as that was honestly the only good RE movie outside of maybe RE 2; I keep going back and forth on if I liked the RE 2 movie. But them removing it makes sense since the quick time events are no longer in the game.
That being said, while I do understand the logic behind removing it, it is still a shame and would have been nice to keep, even if it was more of a reference or easter egg, rather than it's own thing.
I finished the game yesterday. For me this is a great game, even thought i miss some things from the original, but since i have both, i can play any of them anytime. The one who brings me nostalgia is code veronica x, because it remimds me of the original resident evil 2 (my first resident evil).
They made this one different enough that I will have to still play the old one from time to time. Modern controls are nice but the voice acting feels a little bland especially Ada.
@@wolfbair7617sameeee, all the voice acting is so much better even Ada’s voice is better it’s just the delivery is occasionally kinda meh but i think that’s the vibe they were going for, she’s just there to manipulate Leon. i love the new merchant voice too he’s so much better
It'll be back if you read the files in the Throne room. U3 is the second verdugo, slazars other guard that seemingly disappears. The U3 fight will be back in the separate ways Dlc. Only this time you fight it as Ada, I'm assuming it's to replace Ada killing Krauser in the OG
Anyone else notice the last thing Leon says to Ada is “…this is where we go our separate ways”? It’s the title of her campaign from the original. Maybe it’s also a nod to an upcoming DLC 🤷🏾♂️
I thought that Yahtzee was exaggerating when he said that hunting rats was a sidequest, but no... Also, they cut the bit where salazar hijacks your radio transmissions.
There's more enemies missing. In the original game you had on the island the big guys wearing armor and using hammers, and the ones with miniguns. They were kinda of replaced by island versions of the bullhead (the bullhead is already kinda similar to the hammer guys, and in the minigun version they instead use a strange machine gun like contraption in their arms). Also, they appear much later while on the original you had to fight a mini gun guy already in the entrance (but now the stun baton guys are much more resilient than the other soldier to compensate, I think). Also, the ruins part in the end of the village is completely absent, and you only fight Dr. Salvador in the beginning, the cart scene and in the mines, while on the original game you had at least 2 more encounters with him, one after leaving the chiefs manor and the other on the aforementioned ruins sequence that was cut.
I finally got to play the remake and Separates Ways super recently. I was relatively blind to all of the changes the remake had made, but somehow the game was exactly how I remembered from my childhood meanwhile being new and fresh. I didn’t even realize a lot of the game was rehashed and rearranged until you pointed it out here. Guess I should play the original version again soon.
If Wesker was overhauled, I wonder if Resident Evil 1 Re'invented' would be a thing since this Wesker is much newer and different than the 'Gamecube' remake Wesker.
Something I don't see many people notice: The U3 boss is just a reskinned Verdugo boss fight. You fight them both on a timer, you fight them both in a maze of cramped corridors, you have to shoot canisters/barrels to deal real damage to them, you have to navigate their maze to push some buttons, they attack from above and below with QTE-dodge moments, they have quiet eerie music, their footsteps are super loud over the music to induce anxiety, and they are generally not that hard to walk around when you realize they're just a damage sponge wall and have QTE-dodge-able sweeping attacks. And since RE4 Remake still has the Verdugo fight... I mean, we don't really need to do the same fight twice.
This game follows the laws of alchemy well. In order to gain something, something of equal value must be offered. Overall the game was improved tenfold and paves the way for more REmakes. Code Veronica? RE5!? Resident Evil 1?? Sky is the limit!!
@@00rabbit7 i guess, it makes sense still a shame they left it out, i don't think the movie was that much hated though, like it wasn't a masterpiece but i didn't saw people losing their minds how awful it was but that's just me rambling
@@wisconsinbadger5948 it being silly is part of what made it a good part of the game. This remake went clearly full serious mode eliminating silly moments like that and that's one of the thing i hate about this remake
If the original is the 2005 classic then the remake is 2022 classic. It is familiar but different from two games. I love both games, I just finished it and can't stop thinking about it. This game is my GOTY.
@Nighhhts I have a similar list although I'd put RE7 before RE2 Remake. For the longest time RE7 was my favorite game in the series but RE4 Remake has surpassed it.
I'll put the Resident Evil 1 Remake as way better, this game is good. It pales in comparison to that remake, in fact it doesn't even get to sit that the table.
@@Nighhhts if RE2 was longer it could compete.. RE4 jus has so much to explore & the gameplay is better in every way. This remake has now became my fav over RE2 remake
Personally, The U-3 boss fight possibly being removed because of not having build up or appearing out of nowhere is kind of dumb to me because video games for years have always had unexpected bosses. The 'Del lago', 'El Gigante' and 'Verdugo' boss fights being one of them in my opinion.
5:50 You know I have to wonder given that the original resident Evil was split into two discs if maybe they wanted to put some of these things in but just did not have the memory
Why does everyone seem to hate the sliding puzzle so much? It is one of the easiest puzzle in RE, you literally just move the slides in one direction until they fit. Also the hexagon puzzle has a simple solution but you wouldn't know until you look it up, it was so frustrating to find that out.
That ashley sliding puzzle was so easy you just move the center left to center middle than starting from bottom left just rotate all edge pieces clock wise then it's done. Growing up no matter how many times I shown my younger and older brother I still had to do it for them
99% of this remake was superb, but, not adding re5's voice for Wesker was a bad move, this, probably, implies that in the re5 remake they will change his super iconic voice 😢
I've been playing this game a bunch these past 2 days and was surprised to find out that I like the og actually better; The pacing, the characters, the level design, the voice acting (minus Ashley) and the way the plot progressed just felt more natural than they do in the remake. I kept viewing the remake as a "what-if" scenario the whole time I played it, rather than the "definitive edition".
@@Abner_Aharoni What is it missing exactly? It’s pretty much one to one with the OG or even better with callbacks and story changes. And that’s someone who loves OG RE4 and thought it was the best RE game, but this might as well top it. Don’t really get how y’all think this is “missing something “. Y’all just too nostalgic, simple
im sorry if my english is not good but have a question you see in the original remembered when run out of ammo if that happens instead of what you normaly do reloading is better just upgrade the capacity at this way you can do like yellow herb whit life i dont know why but is something that players dind use or know basicly has multyple effect it increase your ammo and reload to full bullet something like that so my question is if this avalible on the remake
@@Despy_TMD apreciated the answer now il be prepared this is a detail that all shall be noticed because in the original it was a life savior spread the word for the players
@@MR.__G ok but i cant believe that a life saviour feature so awesome was take out nerfed on the remake its just a bad decition from capcom i most played by my self to be sure my dear player please tell me that im correct and if i dont lets ask for a patch or some kind of update do you agree with me
"Resident Evil 4 remake really is more of a reimagining of 2005 classic" this just annoyed me and I'm not even 6 sec in a video yet, I just finished the game, it is very good and it really feels like the classic Re4 2005. It's almost identical and something while playing deep into the game you kinda forgot that it is a remake. Capcom doesn't need to just upgrade the graphics of the original and that's it. They did something special here, it is beautifully executed and some changes are for the better some is to make it more broad than the original which is a good thing, It is a remake.
So glad they removed the security lasers (a reference to the first RE movie) and the U-3 fight! Even as a kid I felt they made no sense in the game. The giant walking Salazar statue and the lava room were very silly too. The QTE are finally gone! They were repetitive even during the first play-through. I will just miss the gondola ride: it was fun to snipe the ganados before they got too close.
The placement of u-3 right before the krauser fight was always kind of weird to me. Also glad it was cut. One of the less memorable moments from the original
@@hypersonicattack the only memorable thing about it was the cheap one shot deaths and almost unavoidable damage when fighting it in such a closed space in the first half.
Cutting U3 and the lasers was the worst decision they made. U3 was by far the scariest boss in the game and the laser room was such a big deal at the time I remember it being in the commercials for the game. This remake is a disappointment.
@@michaelmiguelicutti2829 to each their own: the scariest boss for me was the village chief. The original RE4 is still one of my favorite PS2 games of all time along with Metal Gear Solid 3 and Shadow of the Colossus, but I’m glad they removed most of the cheesy parts for the remake.
@@michaelmiguelicutti2829you’re seriously mad about the lasers and U3? the remake is still fantastic without both of those things, and U3 will more than likely make it in ada’s dlc. i know the nostalgia is blinding and you wanna relive your glory days from when the OG came out, but the remake is incredibly good on it’s own. they both are.
I never liked the new supply case upgrades. Getting more pistol ammo is great but it lowers the chances to get the other types. The attachments to the case are forgettable or overpowered. I wish that the starting case had no upsides.
I must say that the remake almost felt like a comedy in certain parts. The original characters were better. But regardless. This game is absolutely amazing
@@adhirg There are two garrador's in that room in the original game, and there are more regenerators due to the backtracking where you defeat a tougher one.
Yup. Earlier when Leon fought several of them to get one of the chimera heads and Ashley was on the second floor. She threw one of the lanterns with blue lights and said that the knights don't like or something like that. There was also a document about it.
Okay a few things, the Ashley puzzle wasn't that hard, Salazar wasn't just a wall of flesh there was that big old creature in front of him with the big one I all the tentacles around you hitting you and if you go down below they have those little spider plagas running around, Louise dying to a knife to the back is kind of meh, he survived pretty much all of the same stuff you did and he dies to a knife in the back. In the original having Sadler basically rip a hole through him was better because you'd believe he died to that, the laser room is an homage to the first Resident Evil movie it didn't come out of nowhere.
The remake is 10 times better than the original. Ive been doing speedruns for the original RE4 for the past 10 or 11 years and I can say without a doubt the remaster is Superior.
@@SadBheeseChurger bro i grew up with re4 the only things they cut are the lifters sequence and the big salazar statue sequence which was altered a bit in remake. Other than that the remake is complete
Not due to "changes", but the cut aspects, I find the remake to be marginally worse, but the remake is still a superb game. As with every remake it seems, I have to recommend people play the original as well. Also, despite the cut content, the remake is around or a bit longer than the original due to the ability to go back and collect items and do optional side tasks. Oh! One thing I will say, however, is that I like the merchant even more in the remake. It is disappointing though that you can no longer make him go "What are ya buyin'? What are ya sellin? What are ya buyin'?" in quick succession. It was just a goofy thing I liked doing in the original. I also thought it would have been an awesome opportunity to give him and the dog you save some more character where after you save the dog, the merchant would have him by his side. Missed opportunity honestly.
I didnt like how they changed some of the dialogue when he meets Luis like when he says "I have just one very important question... you have a smoke?" Or how they took out the rail section where the farmers throw picks at you.
I impulse bought this after work last night after never playing a Resident Evil game. Bought into the hype. Hesitant to open it because I played a few minutes of the demo the other night before bed and definitely didn't love it as much as others do. We'll see how I'm feeling later in the day
